What you are describing is actual etching into either the clear coat, or the color coat of the paint in which acids eat away some of the paint.

Sadly, washing will only remove contamination above the surface, so removing etching will require polishing. In some cases, you may need to compound, in some cases you may need to wet sand, and then compound and then polish.

If a few passes with an aggressive compound doesn't do it, there is a chance the etching is so deep it can't be safely removed.

As explained in the video, the importance of this video is two-fold: 1.) It allows you to SAFELY (Meaning without swirling or scratching, which a normal car wash WILL do, I guarantee it) and 2.) It allows you the convenience of cleaning the affected areas only (I used this method 3 times on this trip, and often the rest of the car was fine, so I could just treat the front and that saved time and energy), AND you can do it indoors, any time day or night.
