Perfect bottom deal. Be mindful of "useless" patter as a sign for handling. But still, killer bottom deal. P&T were checking the deck for doubles, and I'm willing to bet they found them. Now, if he had a stellar deck switch...
i dont understand why penn and teller were talking up his bottom dealing skills like it was so special and all that 14 years of time every day practicing. the center deal is much harder.
maybe its because penn and teller arent sleight of hand gods. just watch ricky jay and his art with a deck of cards, just mesmerising.
CAN I ASK HOW YOU PULL THIS UP IN A REAL GAME? at the end the other players will use the deck for another hand and discover that there are 5 more cards
Yes, adding cards to the bottom of the deck is one method, and I agree it looks like he did that as he bought his left hand up from under the table.
But... How did he know which manufacturer's cards P&T were going to bring so the ones he added to the bottom matched? Must be a couple of dozen to choose from so even if he had a few different ones ready to choose from under the table, it seems a bit hit-and-miss.
@DHStudios how does he get the royal flush to the bottom if u look at the start of it penn and teller look at the start of the deck about the first 10 cards and then he shuffles it one more time and benjamin does cut or shuffle them and how is he ment to locate the cards wile blindfolded
@XMAGICZ07 he didnt locate them. he held a royal flush in his left hand and when they handed him the deck he just added the royal flush on the bottom. in 2:51 - 2:57 its pretty easy to see when you know its there.
after they looked at the entire deck they saw theres another 10 through A of diamonds and they realized how he did it .
He starts with the cards in his left hand and puts them on the bottom of the deck when they are handed to him... as he deals he uses really good slight of hand to pull those cards from the bottom...
@castoni2 He does. It's a bottom deal. 2:53 is when he brings them up to the bottom of the deck as DHStudios said, once you're in that position you can deal however you want and deal a bottom card whenever you want. If the audio was in sync you might even be able to hear the slight difference in sound when he deals a card toward the front.
@castoni2@DHStudios is right, @2:51 he is holding the royal flush in his left hand and when he is given the deck he quickly puts it to the bottom. @2:55 you can even see a little gap at the bottom of the deck.
@IcyClaw25 He adds them after P&T have already handled the cards. Leading up to 2:53 his left hand is under the table, secretly holding the royal flush cards. At 2:53 he uses really quick sleight of hand to bring them under the deck. You can notice a little break in the cards that he shimmies around at 2:54-2:55. Then he draws the cards one by one, drawing the bottom card 5 times and setting those aside.
@BWeManX As an added bonus, he wants the cards "face down" so importantly for 2 reasons. One, it's because if they were face up you could tell if he was bottom-drawing. (IE: If he drew normally, the card would change every time. If he bottom drew a card, the facing card would stay the same and blow his cover...) Also, he wants everyone watching the deck, and not his free hand, when he slides his cards under the deck.
@castoni2 DHstudios is right though

2:53, when he brings his left hand under the deck, he already has cards in his left hand which he is putting at the bottom of the deck.

i dont get how he expects to actually fool pt at that angle, and have them inspect the deck in the end...
so this is likely to be staged

At 2:54 to 2;56 look very closely at the bottom of the deck, you can see he applied some extra cards, there is your royal flush.
