China's military is actually nothing more then a huge defense force, comparable to Ireland or Sweden. @Ding760 No seriously, China doesn't have the Naval Logistical powerhouse needed to launch a sophisticated enough operation to take out Taiwan. China's military is actually nothing more then a huge defense force, comparable to Ireland or Sweden. China actually will never be taken seriously by the military world until they can obtain the logistics to mount an invasion of Taiwan.
That said, China is advancing at an alarming rate and should be considered a threat to taiwan in the next 20 or so year

I do not really think what you've said justifies your claims. As what you've said merely shows you or I don't know whether China has the logistical capability or not, it certainly doesn't show they DON'T have that capability.

@52111centrumcz the chinese MRBMs designed to target carriers do not have ranges of 5,000 miles, they have ranges i believe up to 800 miles. China to Seattle is 4,349 miles, 5000 miles are ICBM territory. The Virginia clas subs especially the newer ones being built were designed to handle the threat of diesels. And in wartime i imagine a carrier battle group to be searching for opposing subs a little bit more carefully than in peace time

diesel-electrics are by nature that capable. Because unlike nuke powerplants, you have no cooling pumps and no turbines that generate electricity - only solid state power source (battery). The only time a diesel-electric is louder is when its changing depth quickly (descent/ascent) which leaves acoustic signatures, and when its charging batteries near the surface (50 hertz and 60 hertz) vibrations from the diesels/generators.

At this point, China's best indigenous fighter is 殲-10 multi-role fighter. It has no operational carrier to project power at sea. Its land force are alright, but do need updating to higher quality equipment, whatever is lacking in quality, they make up for in quantity.

As for MRBM's making naval forces irrelevant, how? Especially with the RIM-161 and the AEGIS BMD in general.
As for diesel subs, those are hard to defeat no matter what. But understand that the US is introducing new sonar in the LCS's and Virginia class subs, and the P-8 has a hydrocarbon sensor that detects diesel fumes released by any ship.
Naval warfare is still there.
