technically I didn't have to really, its just that AOC is an very large install, and my MBP hard drive is split 50% 50% with a windows install / osx install, meaning that i have a limited amount of space to work with. That's really the only reason.
as in MBP you mean Man Bear Pig? jk but hey i have a macbook and i want to play the game i need to use bootcamp and all that stuff but u think i need a external harddrive also how much they go for?
@Liniont, Parallels doesn't support hardware 3D.. If you want to play with Windows, you have to use Bootcamp, not Parallels. Last one is more useful for desktop applications.
you install age of conan on the external hard drive and just load it through the external hard drive but I'm not sure if he's running windows on his mac by using the parallel program which allows mac users to run windows and OSX at the same time with that program you can pretty much have the best of both worlds I recommend everyone who owns a mac and wants to play windows games on it to look in to that program you can find more info on it on the apple website just gotta do a little digging
I love my mac.. I thought, "damn, AoC will show up it's limits..." Then I read the bulletin board.. "unplayable!", "dual 8800GTX, 8fps!" etc.
And what should I say? Since the first minute Early Access, I play with 1920x1200, high settings, NPC- and general sight distance on 100%, no AA, no bloom (I hate it) and I had noch crashes, no freezes, only small problems, and a performance of 18-25fps in Tarantia, 30-80fps outside cities.
I play on a mac pro, 8x 2,8GHz, 2GB RAM, 8800GT, 24" screen.
2.4ghz core duo, 2gb ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, windows xp pro being run with bootcamp 2.1 on low settings i've gotten in the upper 40's before for fps but 26 is pretty average.
Mate, what are you specs? I've got a 2.33ghz c2d, 2GB ram, and my bottleneck, x1600 256 mb. I'm wanting to play it at native rez, and everything else on lowest - do I have a chance?
I've got the same spec MBP as you, and reading mac forums, it looks like we'll have to play on the very lowest setting (in terms of effect and resolution). So probably 800x600 resolution or 1024x768 :(
pretty nice. at what setting are you playing the game (low, med or high?). is it playable? looking foward on playing it on the new imac with geforce 8800 gs, hopes it performs ok. grats on the vid!
i don't get why you had to use an external drive.
