  • i like the first actress very much, i think her acting is fantastic... the others are great too but you can see that the words aren't original... i don't know if i say it right but i think you get the picture... although i'm an actress too and i know that on video theatre looses half of its power .. and this could be easily the case here :) the singing is amazing of course

  • I loved the originality of each individual character... great job :)

  • I fired two warning shots, INTO HIS HEAD

  • BACK Again for that black girl she cracks me up to no end

  • Compared to the movie, this fits the stage way better! The comic yet powerful tone is amazing and great! I didn't really imagine it could be like this!

  • Saw you as Velma in Sydney Caroline, 2009 i think. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! That whole cast was amazing. You and Sharon......what a powerhouse! I look forward to seeing you again in Oz . MWAH!

  • Velma is Ninny 'Legs in the Air' from Moulin Rouge...

  • Terrible.

  • I know a woman who is EXACTLY like the Pop lady XD

  • YES !

  • is velma the girl from moulin rouge?

  • @myork11 ohhh lol thanks

  • Honestly... It's so much better in the movie...

  • was this a parody ?

  • I like the movie better. In addition to the amazing vocals and classic Fosse dance routines, the performance was so powerful and brutal. This was just kind of flat and unimpressive. However, the reason I love the movie is the same reason people disliked the original broadway run, which the movie was based on.

  • The most humorous Cell Block Tango ever, totally new approach. I love it.

  • Did Caroline O'Connor recently go platinum blonde? I saw a Velma in Chicago not too long ago... I can't remember the name in the Playbill, but she looked an awful lot like Caroline except for her hair color.

  • The last one is definitely the best in my opinion:)

  • this one is very good

    but the movie version better

  • "Pop" is hilarious but she's thrown the timing. Milkin' it.

  • YOU POP THAT GUM ONE MORE TIIIIIME

  • The woman who plays pop Michelle Robinson, she was in it for 13 years. She was my dance teacher this summer.

  • The woman who did the 'Pop' part was AWESOME. So insanely calm! And HILARIOUS!

  • I LOOOVE this stage version and they way that each character was goofier than usual! Very entertaining and different ( :

  • Each little story is really cool with a different personality and everything, but they don't really fit with the song... The song is so aggressive, and the characters don't seem like they would sing song itself.

  • why didnt they stick to the original fosse choreography? :(

  • is this the original cast??? wow they're awesome

  • @mizemotion no it's not

  • Caroline O'Conner reminds me so much of Liza in this clip!

  • i love you

  • this is more comedic....

  • @melonsgurl5 you have to remember they have a live audience in front of them and are trying to interact with them. On screen its all sexy and powerful but here i think they portray real women and the characters have more personality.. I actually much prefer this version then the movie.. just saying. :)

  • i could definitely see how someone who saw the movie first would be very underwhelmed by the stage show as the stage version is a very stripped down version. the movie was bigger and flashier and someone expecting the same would be dissapointed. the show is very basic and VERY vaudeville with virtually no set, small cast, and almost no costume changes but both are phenomenal in their own rights. Both are just completely different versions of the same amazing show!

  • yea. i was like...this sucks...but your are very right.

  • love this!!!

  • I always love Donna Marie Asbury's monologue, she's so funny!

  • IS the secound girl singing about stabing her man 10 times the girl from Disney's Thats so Raven? It looks and sound slike her!!!!

  • No, her name is Donna Marie Asbury. One of the best Junes Chicago has ever seen!

  • @disneyboy1 Annaliese van der pol? No, i can see her as the part though, but she played Belle in Beauty and the Beast

  • the first lady is hilarious!!! love her!

  • I don't like Caroline O'Connor as Velma, honestly, but I love this rendition of the cell block tango. I think it's fresh and comedic but still gets the point across.

  • Interesting to see the difference between this and the movie version.

I can see why some people would prefer one over the other, but you just have to look at them as different shows altogether.

I reckon it's good, but some of them do need to slow down there lines just a tad. It's sorta hard to catch everything.

  • I liked it (:

  • i bet they change the intonations every show :))

  • Haha this was way funnier than the movie version I love them both

  • I don't like this at all...

  • Personally I also hated this rendition. Awful.

  • If you saw the film first, then I don't blame you for having this opinion. I clicked on this video expecting to see the same routine (and vocals) as the movie and I was disappointed because they were so different...I guess we always favour whatever version we see first.

  • I saw her in Australia. She was epic <3

  • I've seen the play and the movie. Hate to say it but I liked the movie better.

  • seriously! what did you like in the movie that you didn't like about the stage show?

  • i love roxanne carasco

  • Since when was Chicago a comedy? The movie version is better.

  • Chicago is a dark comedy!!! The movie is very different from the Musical. The Musical is funnier and more rude and sarcastic. The Movie is too Nice. Like Hairspray the Movie!!! The Musical is better and funnier!!!

  • No it's not. This is what "Chicago" is supposed to be. This came before the movie

  • I saw the Broadway version recently in NYC, and it had a different, much BETTER cast. I fell in love with Chicago. I think that if I had seen this version, I would have left disappointed and would not have bought the soundtrack so hastily...

  • see i feel like caroline was an amazing velma but its more the others i was put off by:P

  • I love Caroline.

But she is SOO much better in the current Australian tour of Chicago.

She is soo amazing to watch live.

But I'm glad that she's back in Aussie so that we can have a piece of her! :)

  • i saw the musical on saturday on broadway.. well.. it was better and not that "funny"...

  • I liked this version. I thought the first girl was funny

  • Gee, I love the movie version, i was thinking about watching at the star city theater in Sydney, but now I am not sure I want to... I was expecting so much more than that.... Very very disapointed.

  • uuuuh i like the movie better. they're too comical here. i like that attitude in the movie.

  • i disagree. i think the musical is much better.

  • the movie version is so much better

  • Comment removed

  • it isn't the best, but it's a different attack, so yeah, kudos to that

  • Caroline O'Connor ...The same lady from Moulin Rouge...!

  • the movie version of this song is way better. this one is to comedianish.

  • good song... but definitely not the best i've seen

  • 2:48

  • 6 Wives!!!

  • this was almost exactly like the broadway play

  • IT was funny but missed the tango...

  • It's kinda dull without all the dancing and guys. there wasn't even any tangoing. =P

  • Wow...that was ridiculous. Pop was definitely funny and Lipschitz was believable. The rest were like characatures. And not good ones. :o/

  • I'm really excited to see Donna Marie Asbury in this clip because when I saw the show she understudied as Velma and she was fantastic!

  • i like how they made it like they were confessing

  • this was fuccin hilarious

  • What an incredible show.

  • omg the girl who says squish is donna marie asbury= amaizng

i lvoe her..my aunts are in chicago so i met her numerous times..so talented

  • Oh my gosh Caroline O'Connor is PERFECT for Velma!

  • Well, the pop part is COMPLETELY AMAZING. She is fabolous.I have no idea who she is, but she is THE BEST. She is art...FANTASTIC!

  • 1000 percent agreement

  • yes! she completely surprised me :D I'm used to seeing these aggressive and sexually provocative "pop"s, and there comes this strange looking, timid woman and fits the role perfectly

  • @quickquickfast she is the best!!!!

  • @quickquickfast you took the words rite out of my head!!!!!! wow best i have ever seen it done i was on the floor rolling!! she's brilliant and she speaks for like 30 seconds!!!! Bravo!

  • @quickquickfast her name is Michelle Robinson, i was a dancer with her for a job this past April in NYC, she is AMAZING. :)

  • @quickquickfast omg i just saw saw a video of her doing this in 2002. they love her in this role clearly!

  • @quickquickfast i'm doing this musical this weekend and im playing liz omg im totally gonna do this at rehearsals!

  • lol June is hilarious

  • I really think that catherine zeta jones studied her chracter really well, you can hear the way she sings the song is similar to Caroline. Just the way the broadway's velma kelly would do the act.

  • @kamubegoakujuga which one is Catherine?!!!

  • @KaraokeKid22 ummm shes not here, she's in the movie version... the velma kelly in the movie version...

  • the Pop part made me laugh

  • That's amazing; it's such a different take on it than the movie! I loved it. :D

  • The first lady made me chuckle

such a different take on it than the movie

    Fantastic though

  • This is excellent.

It's a shame about the sound quality, but it's still hilarious!

  • is the brunet one Moulin Rouge's Mimi???

  • Who were the actresses?

  • Did they know they were being video taped?

  • Nope!

  • Oh. Cuz it looked like the second lady was looking riht at the camera.

  • This is pretty funny. I only saw the movie...but this is AMAZING!!!

  • That first woman is Michelle Marie Robinson, and she's still in it! When I saw her, she had the whole theater in stitches!

  • she has been in it since the start of the revival... she is the last one left... i was part of a seminar taught by her

  • No she hasn't. Denise Faye was the original in the revival. Michelle Marie Robinson was a replacement.

  • i meant in some capacity, not as a permanent player, my apologies

  • Aw that was lush. At first I was a bit like erugh what's this gona be like. But then I watched all the way through and it was really good. Xx

  • I love Chicago so much!!! Ann Reinking's choreography owns.

  • Wow, that first one is currently on Broadway, the third one too.

  • that first girl is HILARIOUS!

  • And the second girl is faking the accent she wqs the understudy for velma and she laterplayed the role. Her naame is Roxanne Carsssaco

  • who are those guys at 4:11 behind velma? weird. wow, they really took this as more light and comedic lol. I like it better as serious and angry

  • Those guys are the male ensemble members. The ensemble sits on stage the whole show. There is nothing weird about the monologues being comedic. This was written as a comedic number and was performed as such before the movie was made. This is the Broadway version that played before the movie and is still playing.

  • oh yea I understand that. And I think its funny, but I like it better angry. Its more funny to me that way. But this way is great too. =) At least comically people will get the jokes better lol

  • This is fantastic !. I especially love the 2nd girl & I love her accent where is she from ?.

  • wonderfull

  • i like how all the girls are pretty (liz's hairstyle is a little wierd) but still i like it.

  • That first lady was freakin hilarious!............"ya know how people have these little habits that get you down?"

  • Seriously! It was soo funny!!

  • "so i said to him, i said "bernie... DON'T POP THAT GUM ONE MORE TIIIIIIIMMMMEEE!!"

  • .....................and he did

  • omigosh this is brilliant! and they all look beutiful!

  • GREAT CLIP! i wish the sound was better...

  • Is that... Roxane Carrasco playing Annie?

  • Yes! Weird huh?

  • Great video...almost looks like they know the camera is there...several of them play right to it.

Had the pleasure of seeing this cast in NYC...all the women here are fantastic. Caroline was a wonderful Velma...a powerhouse!

  • Caroline wore a different outfit for this show or she wore something extra to the regular outfit. But normally the Velma dress was a one piece. I like how she made her own look!

  • She was in Moulin Rouge!!!

  • I'm so glad there is finally a clip of her on the web, thanks

  • any of caroline's i can't do it alone? - i love her doing that

  • oooooooooooooh thank-u thank-u!!!! it was great to finally see this! xxxx
