@FloppyCat1990 as an experienced shooter, absolutely not. First of all, in .50 AE it only holds 7 rounds, the recoil is terrible, and it has a notoriety for jamming. If you want a high-powered self defense hand gun you're better off with a 1911 .45 ACP, or a .40 S&W I would recommend a sig or glock for .40

@dk2853 The DE holds 7 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber for a total of 8. The recoil is not 'terrible' unless you can handle it, and it is a very reliable handgun. The reason it jammed on you is either because you are limp wristing, then gun wasnt cleaned properly, or the magazine was malfunctioning, I had to replace the spring in my factory magazine so it would feed properly. For human targets, it is kind of overkill, but not for larger targets

And the fact is, there are a lot better self-defense hand guns, its heavy, the rounds are expensive, and like you said yourself its overkill. In a self defense situation, I would rather have a .357, or a sig .40.But its personal preference, however you will find almost nobody recommends a Desert Eagle for home defense, its a powerful toy basically. Fun, deadly but not practical

@RotaryPoweredRX Im not hating bud but you have to have a mighty strong wrist to rapid fire 4 rounds in a 2-3 inch group on a target 20 or so yards down range. now the 50 does shoot incredibly straight but kicks like a mule and i just don't think rapid fire with one of these things would be accurate. look at the muzzle in the video, it points at everything almost.

@VaMoneyCow heh, I didn't say how large the group was, but I did indeed hit the target at least. And yes, the DE is very accurate and does have a fair amount of recoil, but with proper grip and a bit of muscle its very manageable. I just got a new grip for it and its so much better than the factory, gonna test it out once I get my aftermarket magazines. (the spring in the factory magazines are too weak and lead to feeding errors)

@Xarras94 thats because they are agents. since agents can "bend the rules of the matrix" (ex. dodging bullets, super punches, unlimited ammo etc.) it means they can also "bend the rules" of physics when firing weapons. which means they can reduce the felt recoil. (if you want to think if it in reality, the actors were using .50 A.E. blanks in the guns and since blanks are just gun powder and the shell it produces little recoil.)
