ok.. im making one for my class and i want to make one like yours.. if i can. I cut the Styrofoam like yours but i dont know what i kind of motors to get..? and what battery did you use and also can you PM me all your parts because i have no clue what im doing and my project is due next week! i was planning to use a computer case fan but it couldn't lift the foam up so i decided to use motors.. please help me!!
1. ive deleted your other comments, please stop spamming.
2. Please read through the comments, ive answered a lot of question. The price depends on what electronics you are going to use, since this is the stuff which costs. You need a cheap small servo 8$
a receiver about 18$ and two motors and two speed controlers (ESC) which will be about 40 $
All these prices depends on where you live, try to find them as cheap as poossible :-)
well, if you mean the "rudder" (that would be the big wooden plate at the rear end of the craft) its just something i cut out myself :)
But if you think about the little red thing, with the rudder on top of it, then you think about the servo. A servo is a small motor, but it does not just rotate as hell, but stops at the angle you want it to stop at.
You can buy it in your local RC shop, just ask the guy at the disk, he will be glad to help you :)
you give the motor more volts ie. battery with higher amount of volt (V) output, but you have to MAKE SURE that your esc can support it, and same for your motor, else.. you will have a lot of fun :D ... -for like 2 minuts and so, and then it will release the hidden smoke trapped in every electronic :O
But you just gotta build a well working hovercraft, and eksperiment with that. Then when its working properly, you can try make it look a little better, maybe put a "cockpit" on it :)
Hi there, thanks to Google Translate, i think i now understand what you said, since i do not speak.. Spanish? sorry if im wrong :)
"I would love to make one myself
and not disarm a rc car, but have the real equipment.
I see your hovercraft and I was delighted and I see that responds well to rotate
: D
good job!" So well, thanks a lot :D And youre right, it responses pretty well, and its more easier to make one of actual RC stuff, than using something heavy from a RC car :)
I'm having a little break here on YouTube, but i will get some videos up of my new plane when i get it builded, and probably some pianovideos, among more nerdy stuff :)
Well no, cuz then the hovercraft itself will start rotating more, than if the prop is more in front (or in the back) since there is more mass to move... i guess xD But anyway, it does rotate more than if its not-centered... like helicopters starts rotating... :)
Good choice!!! They're Mabuchi 380PH motors. Going brushless may make it hard to control though. i'm glad to see people have the sense to use Mabuchis, they're the best. You can get'em online pretty cheap. Electronic Goldmine has the 380SH motors for $1.79 right now!
Here where im fom, we are using "mode 2" you may be using "mode 1" or 3 or 4 though, what that means is were the different channels are located on your Tx, like your left thump controlls Throttle and rudder and your right one controls ailerons and elevator, that will be on "mode 2" TO BE CONTINIUEDE====>
hi,hope u can give me a 'lift' on my soon to be assembled hover craft.since u r having 2 escs and only 1 receiver, how do u fit the 2 esc ends to the receiver?
first you take the 1st ESC and plug it into the receiver..... and then you plug the 2nd ESC into the receiver! :D :D :D not that difficult, huh? ;) the thing is that many ppl tends to take the middle lead out of the servocable from the esc to the receiver, you dont have to do that! :)
As for your umbrella skirt, i would think it should work? is it the shape which causes you problems?
Happy hovering to you too ^^
Btw, please upload video wenn you got it to work :)
YES!
As skirt i just used a plastic bag which i have cut to work as a skirt, you should be able to figure out how, by whatching the vid... a CPU fan or other pc fans, could work, nut they are TOO slow and TOO heavy-compared to how little power they have... if you realy wanna kick ass with a homemade hovercraft :D you should buy some rc equipment, and some cheapish old brushed speed400 motors, then you can build a hovercraft which will be able to go on grass/water/snow/concrete and so on..... :D
Thx, some friends and I are gonna build rc hovercraft as a ninth grade school project. I gotta stick to the budget and will use an old rc car and two or more pc-fans.
You're welcome :) An old RC car can realy help you! the more "prof" the car is, (wallmart VS. an rc shop) the better it is, you should try mounting a propeller on the motor which is in the car, it should be something kinda like a speed400 but if you stick to using a pc-fan, you will realy want to keep the weight DOWN :O ! you should be able to make a stearable hovercraft with an rc-car and to (OR ONE) pc fan(s)
The power from the batteri (2S) is going through ((at least one)) both the ESC's and into the motors (two motors), then the ESC's is also providing power for servos and the receiver and whatever you plug into it, apart from the motors, everything gets about 5V
... i used one ESC for each motor, the motors are two Graupner speed 400, or two Permax 400, they are the same just different producents.....thanks for commenting
What? you mean buy one from me? ohhh im using them right now in an other project... you can buy one for just about 30-40$ (200 danish kroners. nearly the same in norway i think)depending on how much current it will take before it says PUFF ;)

Have u ever thought of using a pc-fan?
DualDesertEagle 2 years ago
Yes I have, and I have tried it, but a Sp400 motor is WAY more powerfull! :D
I would gues you could use a pc fan on smaller ones, but they a quite week, unless you give them a little more volts, but then they dies faster too :/
Have a great and nerdy summer ^^

hiddenglass 3 years ago
What? you mean buy one from me? ohhh im using them right now in an other project... you can buy one for just about 30-40$ (200 danish kroners. nearly the same in norway i think)depending on how much current it will take before it says PUFF ;)
I'd like to see some photos and maybe a video :D
nerdboy19 3 years ago
No! do i need to have one on my hovercraft??
-Hg
hiddenglass 3 years ago
You need a Electronic Speed Controller (ESC/Speedctrl/speedcontroller...) between your receiver and your motor, the ESC takes the commands from the receiver and converts them to signals to you motor, your ESC should be conected to your batteri.....
you need a ESC to use a motor on what ever you are building which is controlled by RC, to say it the easy way :)
