@weightfeather1 Hi , I get the same relief by wearing my prosthetic arm. Thanks for the interest, this is a documented therapy for phantom pain sufferers, I cannot use the mirror box beacuse my right arm stump is too short . Its called the ramachurian effect.
Your hand covering is remarkably realistic looking, with nails that need trimming. It even looks like you have a scar on your thumb! May I ask what prompted you to get an osseointegrated implant? Do you have any issues in bathing, swimming, or so on? And may I ask what you do for a living?
What prompted me to get osseointegrated is to get my shoulder function back which is not possible using conventional socket prosthesis. Before the implants stuck out I wore a shoulder socket with a mechanical hinge, even though I had a good shoulder joint. I could not use it due to the shortness of my remnant arm. Clinically this is called disarticulation. I have no issues with swimming, bathing as normal, just being sensible. I am an Engineering Co workshop director. Regards Mark
Only a hand, no hook. The hand in particular is very important for relief of phantom pain as the visual feedback and touch feedback tricks the brain into thinking you still have an arm and hand which soothes the unemployed part of the brain which is getting trauma signals. Very complex and definitely not physcological. Until you lose an arm or leg you take these things for granted. Phantom sensation/pain at best is minor tingling where ones fingers used to be at worst severe pins and needles.
