@june0024 You have a good point and I agree with you, but one thing for sure is that VC will never compare to jordan , he's a good player but that's it..
@LaloLabrador He was never a Jordan comparison... Like one video said, Carter has his + side that Jordan didn't have...

Jordan can shoot at any part of the court [except the three], can defend, make some plays and is also as reliable as Carter can be... So yeah... Both have their ups and downs... @LaloLabrador No wonder why... He's playing in a team with Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki and Lamar Odom together... And when he was a Raptor for the first 3 or 4 years. When he took them to that point in 2001, that was when he was at his best. But he was lazy, doesn't matter what his scoring averages show. There were many nights where he was barely involved as a New Jersey player. If he played like he did for raps in 2001, new jersey would have gotten past the 2nd round.
But nevertheless he was the reason why I started watching basketball, having missed Jordan by 2 years.
Old Dr. Jack Ramsay really saying rookie V.C. might be better than rookie MJ. Did he see the numbers? Of course he has 3pt range, for all kids born after 1975, that's all they know. The 3 was new to MJ.

@GeniusSelfproclaimed true, that's my favorite one we'll never see one like that again every dunk was original and just vicious and the swagger he brought to it is un-matched he knew he was gonna win
in my opinion carter is the next jordan, he may not have the skills mj had on the court, but his dunks are unreal and he's got alot of hangtime in the air like mj..nuff said!!!
@swiftdan8 Can you read? I said in his prime, meaning when he was the age of Lebron/Wade/Durant/Dwight are right now. Didn't realize I was talking to a child, sorry.
@swiftdan8 Durrrrppp no way a bunch of 20-25 year olds are better then a 34 year old man, thanks for the brilliant remark Einstein. Fact of the matter is, Vince in his prime would dunk all over Lebron, Wade, Durant, or Dwight.
Outside of verticle leap ,Vince wasn't anything near the athlete MJ. For those of us old enough (i'm 29) to remember MJ can recall how he would go hard 48 mins a game and once eving averaging 37ppg. Jordan was the greates up untill his mid 30's which is soimething we wont likely see again.
That only shows how much bullshit the media throws at you.
Kids are easily manipulated into swallowing it blindly.
Just look back in history... Penny Hardaway was supposedly the "next MJ" and his delusional fans said he was even better. Then it was Grant Hill, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, LeBron James and now probably Blake Griffin.
In 30 years kids will STILL talk nonsense about how their favourite player is "better than MJ".
Vince Carter had more talent than Kobe. Kobe just worked harder to be better than people who did not practice like AI , TMac, Vince. Tmac and Vince had some injuries, but so did Kobe, and to think about it Kobe still has injuries TODAY and still the top 1 or 2 player.
@CuttyRay Because Jordan and Carter both came out of UNC and had similiar styles, not to mentio they were physical freaks. There's really no comparison, but Carter is the best player to come out of UNC since Jordan.
It's amazing that this was a conversation at one time. What's even more amazing is that I see comments about VC possibly being better than MJ. Youngsters are so blinded by sportscenter highlights. MJ was at 31PPG at 50% from the field at the time and is one of the most savage defenders of alltime. And MJ did it in the brutal 90's. This eras rules are made for players to have easy dunks. See how often VC get impeded or hit at the rack now go watch MJ and you'll understand. Kids are so dumb.
@TheMyth619 Yea but you can never compare 2 players by their stats because it all depends on who's on your team. A VC fan could argue that Vince had a bad team.
@homeskilletbiscuit49 True but a VC fan would mostly be young or not a true fan of the game. That would be a horrible debate. MJ would still be considered better even before the titles. VC is not even in the top 20 among greatest shooting guards. Not just stats or accolades MJ had him intangables. If you would like to debate in VC's favor I'm game. Great dunker and athlete nothing more. Soft, not clutch, not a winner, doesn't elevate players around him and this is compared to pre 90's MJ.
@TheMyth619 I'm actually more of a hockey fan to be honest... But with I would agree with you that MJ is one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time
@homeskilletbiscuit49 Great. MJ is the greatest bar none. Gretzky Is the greatest hockey player IMO. VC is not even a Mario Lemieux. It's like an Alex Ovechkin fan telling you that he could have been as good as The Great One.
@TheMyth619 let the youngsters think what they think man. theyll never be convinced. only people that understand basketball through EVERY era can appreciate how great MJ was, cause like you said the 90's was quite possibly the physical decade in pro ball history. i agree with everything you said, but the reason this was a conversation at one time is because people will always look for the next jordan, they anticipate it, and because of that players who have done nothing draw that sad comparison
Its funny i respect the defense of the 90s but the rules were changed to give a perimeter players a change and keep big men from scoring so easy. People have to realize that players like Kobe, ray allen, dwayne wade, lebron, melo, would still find a way to win if they played with those rules in the 90s and it still seems like handchecking is allowed in the playoffs every single year.. the nba has a safety concern
@gottgaame Yes and this very point proves what MJ did in an era that was built for bigs. To this day nobody has put up MJ stats despite the rules to their advantage. Why else would Gary Payton have the best years of his career in the new era rules. Why else would Nash get MVP and be a threat when he was sub par in the 90's. Why else is Kidd and Grant Hill playing at a high level still. The rules make the game easy. If you like the soft play that's your choice. I'm a fan of defense.
@TheMyth619 I disagree with the ideas that people think it was harder to score because of the rules... charles barkley shot well over 50 percent during his entire career and he shot about 60 percent in the 1989 season, consistently it seems that jordan was great but he has one of the most amount of shot attempts ever in the nba. So if kobe, lebron, barkley, and other greats took as many shots they would probably score more points than jordan, Probably..
@gottgaame Now think about the fact that MJ has a higher shooting percentage while shooting more shots. Simple math. Also look up efficiency rating. The game is more than dunks and highlights. Only a long time fan and person that studies and plays the game can see these things. Hence most of the professional basketball world see this. Same thing is happening in the NFL but most would be blind to see. Your logic is highly flawed. If KB or any great took more shots their percentage would drop.
@gottgaame Would would you rather have a player that can put up 30 at 50% shooting with contact or someone that can put up 24 at 45% shooting with open lanes and no contact. Simple math. Not even adding being able to create his own shot, is clutch, and knock down freethrows. Don't need to add play lockdown D. The players you mention can shoot all they want. You might get a lot of 40 point games and 40% or less. Basic math.
@gottgaame You can go to NBA.com and lookup the many rule changes to enable peremeter players to score. All since 2000. All this is to raise ticket sells and excitement. 3 second to keep bigs out of the lane. Now there are hardly any good bigs. No contact or hand checking. If you know anything about basketball you'll know that this would disrupt even 3 point shooters if it were still legal. Go watch an old chicago, detroit, or knicks game on here and you might understand if not in denial
@TheMyth619 dont forget about the 5 seconds to the basket rule..dont get me wrong.. MJ's performances were spectacular..he only put up so many shot attempts because he wanted to win..what it ultimately came down to is him wanting a ring..going with what you said..yes i have watch many playoffs games in the 80s and 90s..but watching the bulls vs heat 2011 playoffs..you can notice the lock down defense..the nba took away the rules because they dont want violence to be the attention of the game..
@TheNeeks6 Well, I have to disagree, those two are phenomenal players in the mold of an A.I, and he played a big chunk of his career when hand-checking and more physical D was allowed and he still used to lead the league in scoring. Rose and Wade are more athletic than Iverson, so I feel they would be just fine, but players like aaron brooks, ty lawson, jameer nelson, bradon jennings, etc. would suffer.
He played in the tail end of the 90s so he did experience a bit of the era You don't even have to mention the contact he didn't have to face to see there's no comparison. Jordan was passionate and willing to improve, Vince started strong in the beginning, and stopped caring after team success didn't come easy for him.
vince = washed up ... i went to a magic game and he put up 48 ... with 5 secs left he had the chance to put up 50 with a fast break dunk and he dribbled out the clock like a bum ... mj would of made it a show
@xxscrimagexx oh ok well i wrote my message before he got traded. well i feel bad about that. now i dont see him getting to get any change to win a title. he is my favorite player but i hope he does good well while in Phoenix. that is a pretty big trade.
He was fearless his first few years. He was headed in the direction of greatness until his injury which left him too shook to go to the basket. Then he fell in love with the jumpshot and became passive all together. A mental thing as someone suggested early.

Personaly, I think it's an insult to any player in the league today and any player that dominated the league before Jordan, to say that's he's the best ever, or the best that will ever play the game. It's bullshit.
notice that john elway's retirement is mentioned at the bottom of the screen, which means this was made in 1999. at the time, vince was young and had the athleticism of jordan. he just never had the drive, which has become apparent today. he sure as hell is the best dunker ever though
@MrSchfiftyFive Only title Vince has is the best dunker. A mediocre 3 pt shot, which can allow him to drive sometimes for dunks. No post game, not a good midrange shot, cant shoot well, cant dribble well, slow first step (which is why he needed the 3pt shto to open up his game) and inability to make his teammates better. VC is a dunk highlight reel and nothing more. McGrady was a real player, but his injuries stopped him & personal problems. VC got hurt in 05, closer to the end of his career
Kobitch isn't even close MJ BUT Kobitch still using moves MJ till now...That is why people said Kobitch next MJ....Ha ha ha ha! fucking STUPID!!! people....Miami the best team today...
michael jordan is better, but you have to say michael when he won rings had scottie pippen like the 3rd best player in the nba then dennis rodman the best rebounder and defence. and always had great 3 point shooters
@gabrielcarlothomas Well look at how stacked the Lakers are. When you took out Mj on the Bulls, the scoring lead decreased. When yo utake out Kobe, the Lakers can even extend the lead. They got Theo Ratliff coming off the bench and 3 good point guards and 4 All Stars in Odom, Gasol, Kobe & Artest and almost everyone on that team can shoot 3s. Thats crazy stacked.
@Shermstyle23 what?...the bulls had some great players for that time..dont compare to todays time..Lakers can string some reg. season wins maybe without kobe but definitely not the number one seed and come playoff time they dont even sniff a championship, don't make up lies just because time has passed.
I completely agree, Vince got screwed in all his developmental years as a Raptor. Never had the same coach for more than a season or two, never had any say in who gets drafted, the team should've thrown everything AND the kitchen sink to keep T-Mac there but they didn't. He was on a team that didn't wanna win...MJ was also the ONLY player to win chips without a dominant big man. Wade had Shaq (and I believe Zo on the bench). VC had Lawrence Frank as a coach, old J-Kidd and gay RJ.
Vince Carter compared to Michael Jordan, what a joke. Vince doesn't have the strive which is sad because he could of been. I mean look at where Vince Carter is now. Kobe Bryant is the only one that carried on success.
vince carter. the greatest player...that never was. he wasted his talent. to me, he could've been and should've been the greatest to ever play. his ability is beyond belief, but his mental game...doesn't even come close.
he had the chance to be jordan..but now, he can't even match kobe.
@vicehoundelite Great point! Vince was much more like a Dominque Wilkines than an MJ....but the medias been so busy trying to find MJ's replacement that they tend to lunge for anybody that had athletic ability..
no one is close to michael jordan.. lebron, kobe, dwayne wade and vince carter they are good players but they are not close, not even close. PERIOD...
vc when he came out was the only guy people really compared to jordan unfornately it never clicked in vcs head he needs to drive not settle for 3s and play deffense he needs to play d
Vince failed just like all the others including Kobe. They don't realize that Jordan came from nowhere without expectations. He made his legacy from the ground up. These guys like Vince and Kobe coming in already have a legacy and expectations coming into the league. Any slip up in those moments gets exploited. That is unfortunate for those guys. But its also their reality. An injury? People starts speaking negatively about you. Jordan sat out almost an entire season. But not a word.
Ok guys, i have a question: first one to either sent me the messege or comment below me the CORRECT ANSWER i swear ill subscribe to your channel and give you my eternal gratitude. ok, so there was a sick video on mjs entire career and drama like his dad, baseball, etc andstuff on espnnot too long ago but like a little before he went to the hall of fame. It was on espn, and i cant find it it was awsome it kept going back to this dark room and the old fashiond video player with the circles? TYVM
@BaseballBEAST456 i didnt have enough room lol so i just wanna know the name of what it was called i cant find it anywhere i hope i described it good enough. I dont think it was in my own words cuz i already tried looking that up:)
If only if Viince had played hard and had that Toughness and the Killer intinct, Vince had all the skillz, but in order to be great, u have to have that Mindset of being Great, and Vince doesnt have that.
but MJ is the real player who can shoot the freethrow on clutch time and everything is equal to his attributes ...
i admit that VC is my most favorite player but he lacks of shooting skills and due to his high flying capabilities it led to his nightmares now when i see him dunking he is just an ordinary player but has a mentality of a superstar
@putangina101010 ...u are wrong...last year b4 2 or 3 years carter practiced on his shoot and now he has rly good shooting skills...(especially on 3 points ) .!
and of course you all forgot that vince was injured and missed almost all 04/05 season. injures was a big factor in his career. i'm not saying that he is as good as or better than MJ, but he probably would have been as close as anybody in the league now.
if u must know,he played in every single game that season 04/05,actually he was named player of the month and of the week several times ...and took the Nets to the playoffs in the last week!
@Cerkadmz Not even close. So whats the reason Vince didnt do as well before 2005?! Look at the stats on MJs and VCsrookie years. MJ was way ahead. We shouldnt even mention VC with the likes of Kobe and LBJ, much much less MJ. MJ had a near career ending injury during his 2nd year in the league with the achilles, but he came back and did all the things he did. VC was a big reason they lost in 2009. VC is a no show in the clutch and is inconsistent in many other games.
I got to feel bad for Vince. He had/has talent, but he didn't have Jordan's WIN OR DIE!!! approach and people bega hating on him when he didn't play like Jordan.
I disagree, VC could have been the best in the game if he stayed in Toronto and played to his full potential, remember pple forget he puts up 20+ pts without giving it his best! he is probanly the most gifted player ever
If Mcgrady and Vince would have stayed together they probablly would have a title

@swiftdan8 Durrrrppp no way a bunch of 20-25 year olds are better then a 34 year old man, thanks for the brilliant remark Einstein. Fact of the matter is, Vince in his prime would dunk all over Lebron, Wade, Durant, or Dwight.

atomicbomb76 9 months ago

Learn to think for yourself and respect the GOAT.
megatroll 11 months ago
Vince Carter had more talent than Kobe. Kobe just worked harder to be better than people who did not practice like AI , TMac, Vince. Tmac and Vince had some injuries, but so did Kobe, and to think about it Kobe still has injuries TODAY and still the top 1 or 2 player.

@TheMyth619
Couldn't have said it better.
I salute you sir.
megatroll 11 months ago
@TheMyth619 Yea but you can never compare 2 players by their stats because it all depends on who's on your team. A VC fan could argue that Vince had a bad team.
homeskilletbiscuit49 7 months ago
@homeskilletbiscuit49 True but a VC fan would mostly be young or not a true fan of the game. That would be a horrible debate. MJ would still be considered better even before the titles. VC is not even in the top 20 among greatest shooting guards. Not just stats or accolades MJ had him intangables. If you would like to debate in VC's favor I'm game. Great dunker and athlete nothing more. Soft, not clutch, not a winner, doesn't elevate players around him and this is compared to pre 90's MJ.
TheMyth619 7 months ago
@TheMyth619 I'm actually more of a hockey fan to be honest... But with I would agree with you that MJ is one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time
homeskilletbiscuit49 7 months ago
@homeskilletbiscuit49 Great. MJ is the greatest bar none. Gretzky Is the greatest hockey player IMO. VC is not even a Mario Lemieux. It's like an Alex Ovechkin fan telling you that he could have been as good as The Great One.
TheMyth619 7 months ago
@TheMyth619 Ya I get the comparison but to be honest I think that Bobby Orr was a better hockey player. He just had a short career.
homeskilletbiscuit49 7 months ago
@TheMyth619 vince will never or never can be mj...bad comparison...but i believe vc is the best dunker ever.
bosh8867 7 months ago
@TheMyth619 let the youngsters think what they think man. theyll never be convinced. only people that understand basketball through EVERY era can appreciate how great MJ was, cause like you said the 90's was quite possibly the physical decade in pro ball history. i agree with everything you said, but the reason this was a conversation at one time is because people will always look for the next jordan, they anticipate it, and because of that players who have done nothing draw that sad comparison

Its funny i respect the defense of the 90s but the rules were changed to give a perimeter players a change and keep big men from scoring so easy. People have to realize that players like Kobe, ray allen, dwayne wade, lebron, melo, would still find a way to win if they played with those rules in the 90s and it still seems like handchecking is allowed in the playoffs every single year.. the nba has a safety concern
gottgaame 4 months ago
@gottgaame Yes and this very point proves what MJ did in an era that was built for bigs. To this day nobody has put up MJ stats despite the rules to their advantage. Why else would Gary Payton have the best years of his career in the new era rules. Why else would Nash get MVP and be a threat when he was sub par in the 90's. Why else is Kidd and Grant Hill playing at a high level still. The rules make the game easy. If you like the soft play that's your choice. I'm a fan of defense.
TheMyth619 4 months ago
@TheMyth619 I disagree with the ideas that people think it was harder to score because of the rules... charles barkley shot well over 50 percent during his entire career and he shot about 60 percent in the 1989 season, consistently it seems that jordan was great but he has one of the most amount of shot attempts ever in the nba. So if kobe, lebron, barkley, and other greats took as many shots they would probably score more points than jordan, Probably..
gottgaame 4 months ago
@gottgaame Now think about the fact that MJ has a higher shooting percentage while shooting more shots. Simple math. Also look up efficiency rating. The game is more than dunks and highlights. Only a long time fan and person that studies and plays the game can see these things. Hence most of the professional basketball world see this. Same thing is happening in the NFL but most would be blind to see. Your logic is highly flawed. If KB or any great took more shots their percentage would drop.
TheMyth619 4 months ago
@gottgaame Would would you rather have a player that can put up 30 at 50% shooting with contact or someone that can put up 24 at 45% shooting with open lanes and no contact. Simple math. Not even adding being able to create his own shot, is clutch, and knock down freethrows. Don't need to add play lockdown D. The players you mention can shoot all they want. You might get a lot of 40 point games and 40% or less. Basic math.
TheMyth619 4 months ago
@gottgaame You can go to NBA.com and lookup the many rule changes to enable peremeter players to score. All since 2000. All this is to raise ticket sells and excitement. 3 second to keep bigs out of the lane. Now there are hardly any good bigs. No contact or hand checking. If you know anything about basketball you'll know that this would disrupt even 3 point shooters if it were still legal. Go watch an old chicago, detroit, or knicks game on here and you might understand if not in denial
TheMyth619 4 months ago
@TheMyth619 dont forget about the 5 seconds to the basket rule..dont get me wrong.. MJ's performances were spectacular..he only put up so many shot attempts because he wanted to win..what it ultimately came down to is him wanting a ring..going with what you said..yes i have watch many playoffs games in the 80s and 90s..but watching the bulls vs heat 2011 playoffs..you can notice the lock down defense..the nba took away the rules because they dont want violence to be the attention of the game..
gottgaame 4 months ago
@gottgaame I agree to a point. I think smaller quick penetrating guards like D-Rose, and Wade are definitely helped by the rules changes though.
TheNeeks6 3 months ago
@TheNeeks6 Well, I have to disagree, those two are phenomenal players in the mold of an A.I, and he played a big chunk of his career when hand-checking and more physical D was allowed and he still used to lead the league in scoring. Rose and Wade are more athletic than Iverson, so I feel they would be just fine, but players like aaron brooks, ty lawson, jameer nelson, bradon jennings, etc. would suffer.
thety5489 3 months ago
@TheMyth619
He played in the tail end of the 90s so he did experience a bit of the era You don't even have to mention the contact he didn't have to face to see there's no comparison. Jordan was passionate and willing to improve, Vince started strong in the beginning, and stopped caring after team success didn't come easy for him.

Neptunz05 1 year ago
notice that john elway's retirement is mentioned at the bottom of the screen, which means this was made in 1999. at the time, vince was young and had the athleticism of jordan. he just never had the drive, which has become apparent today. he sure as hell is the best dunker ever though
MrSchfiftyFive 1 year ago
@MrSchfiftyFive Only title Vince has is the best dunker. A mediocre 3 pt shot, which can allow him to drive sometimes for dunks. No post game, not a good midrange shot, cant shoot well, cant dribble well, slow first step (which is why he needed the 3pt shto to open up his game) and inability to make his teammates better. VC is a dunk highlight reel and nothing more. McGrady was a real player, but his injuries stopped him & personal problems. VC got hurt in 05, closer to the end of his career

Shermstyle23 1 year ago
