Correction to Flicka's schedule that I posted awhile back: March 4, 2010 recital is at Occidental College, Los Angeles, NOT San Fransisco. Sorry for the error. She performs on April 22, 2010 at Carnegie Hall in what her website is billing as "Flicka and Friends." She's being honoured by the Metropolitan Opera Guild on April 20, so I'd guess that quite a few of her MANY friends, including Kiri, may appear. Keep checking her website for updates.
rahhes5, I'm also disappointed; but found that there's a special concert: 'Flicka and Ramey' at Orpheum theatre in Vancouver on June 11, 2009, (8 pm) with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. After some consideration we decided to travel a very long distance to attend this concert. Probably this wonderful singer will gradually(?) retire in a few years; and we just don't want to miss this opportunity.
I, too, attended the recital with Flicka and Sam in Vancouver -- wonderful! Flicka is retiring in 2010, but has numerous recital dates set , several with Sam, others with Kiri, and the rest on her own. You may already know by now that the Met Opera Guild will honour her on April 20, 2010 and she will perform at Carnegie Hall that same week. "Engagements" section of her website hasn't been updated, but you can p.m. me and I can give you the dates I know of so far. A Canadian fan.
yes, please give all the dates that you know, I noted that she'd be singing in Calgary on Feb.24,2010. But I'd love to see Kiri and Flicka together as well.btw,linnyloo2, have you watched Flicka's commencement address for Cleaveland Institute of Music?Very inspiring and humorous. It's on youtube.
Dates set as of July 10, 2010: July 17 - Park City, UT; July 23 - Shippensburg, PA; Sept. 13 - Seattle, WA (w Sam); Sept. 18 - Kitchener, ON; Oct.4 - Boston, MA (w Kiri); Oct. 10 - Toronto, ON (w Kiri?); Feb.11, 2010 - Urbana, IL; Feb. 24 - Calgary, AB; Mar. 4 - San Fransisco; Mar. 17 - Palm Desert, CA (w Kiri); w/o Apr. 20 - NYC (Carnegie Hall); May 10 - Chicago, IL; May 11 - Cleveland, OH. Enjoyed watching Flicka's speech at CIM. See clips of her in 3-part doc on Kiri: "Spirit of the Arts."
¡Gracias!
I have met her personallly in my law firm, and she is as gracious, kind, and loveable as everyone says in these comments. She is one of a kind of opera greats!
Thank you so much for posting this! Merteuil is one of my favorite female characters in all of French literature, and Frederica von Stade is probably my all-time favorite mezzo, so I've been hoping for ages to see this! Do you have any suggestions as to where I could buy a copy of the whole thing?
is it possibly to get a recording of the opera? in any formate?

Thanks to Oneguin65 for post this video... and thanks to Flicka for so much moments... and minutes... and hours... of pleasure.
She is not only a wonderful singer, but an uncommon actress, and overall, a great, great person.

I couldn't have imagined her playing such an unsavory character, but she does it well!
