  • i hate being left handed.. finding one of these is like seeing a unicorn!

  • As I see them. A "Stick-In-Your-Backer"

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat dream bass man !! nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey , I want to learn Bass Next and I wonder if a Rickenbacker would be a Good Bass?

  • @TayEmification a rickenbacker as starters bass?

  • @TayEmification As a beginner in bass, I might suggest you get something cheap in price but good in sound quality. Spending 1.6k on your first bass might not be smart if you find that you aren't interested in the instrument.

  • Der Einzige, der den richtigen "KNACK" hat!

  • @kylewb3 We sell them as quickly as we can get them. The demand for them far exceeds the supply. Keep an eye on our Rickenbacker page on the Bass Emporium website for availability. You can find the link in the description above. We update it whenever one of these beauties arrives.

  • paul mccartney´s bass?

  • i love that bass!!!

  • Hey there mate,

I was wondering: What amp have you got your bass through?

    Rock on \o/

    Elucaleb

  • @Elucaleb - We are running direct with a Radial DI box directly into the Canon video camera. No amplifier involved.

  • SCOTT PILGRIM!!!!!!!

  • Aw man! Rickenbackers are meant to be picked and rocked like hell! Get those strings rattling against the neck!

  • all the bassists i know that use ricken backers use picks

    lemmy

    paul (mcaurtney)

    chris (squire)

  • I have an 06 Jazz Deluxe, not worlds apart in sound, but god, this is beaaautifuuulll

  • As far as I know Rickenbacker has in fact done a lot to change their production methods in the last decade. Anyway, good video!

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, I wish you'd demonstrate it with flats as well.

  • SCOTT PILGRIM!!!!!!

  • great video.

  • is that the bass line to The Peoples Court?

  • I play guitar, I'm a strat player. But if I were to take up base, this more than likely would be the base i would get, 2nd choice fender Precision. Or maybe both if I could afford it.

  • You guys put together great demo videos. All questions are anticipated and answered. Pros and cons of each instrument is evenly presented. The demos are great. Thanks!

  • @poonthra2 That is why i bought it in Jetglo.

  • It looks just like the Rick bass from "Scott Piglrim vs. the World", down to the sunburst color.

  • @CJAproductionsINC The bass in "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" is a fireglo Rickenbacker 4003.

  • amazing clear tone

  • i love your guy's videos. thank you!

  • I'm not sure I could ever get use to a shellacked fretboard.

  • @dvdfrnzwbr Hi - this is not shellacked, but is the same poly finish as used on the body. Ric has always done this (expect in a few cases) and it is really quite comfortable and fun to play.

  • @dvdfrnzwbr If you've ever played a maple neck Fender Jazz Bass, you've played a coated neck.

  • @dvdfrnzwbr I own this exact bass, and the poly finish on the neck is hardly noticeable. If I compare my Fender Jazz bass to the Rick, they feel almost the same as far as the fretboard goes.

If there is anything that you would have trouble getting used to is the shape of the neck of a Rickenbacker. My Fender C-Shaped bass neck (not the modern C) feels so small compared to the big Rickenbacker neck. Its great but hard to play for a bass player that is used to modern basses.

  • Oh my god , this bass is my dream , how i wish could have one someday

  • Such a shiny fret board.

  • You will lose some loudness - particularly in the low end. It makes the bridge pickup quite thin - but, does give you that Chris Squire kind of vibe.

  • @bassemporium when I pull the vintage pull thingy, my bass loses a lot of loudness in the sound. is this normal? thanks

  • @zapadlowsky Give us a call at the store. We'd love to help you find the right amp. Our phone number is 1-800-445-5578 and we're open 10am-6pm (Central) Tuesday through Saturday. Hope to hear from you soon.

  • @bassemporium Do you have a rickenbacker 4003 for customers to try out at your store?

  • This was recorded direct through a Radial Pro DI into our Canon video camera. No EQ, no processing, just the bass itself.

  • @bassemporium ah. I got Ric4003 but in Jetglo. And still can't choose amp for it.

  • So sweet sound. How it was recorded? Amp?

  • @g4geetar Feel free to give us a call at the store any time. We'd love to find the right bass for you. Our phone number is 1-800-445-5578 and we're open 10am-6pm (Central) Tuesday through Saturday. Hope to hear from you soon.

  • I dream of this bass at night :) Is that weird? :P

  • why use finger, i play with my finger but when i pick up my rickenbacker play with a hard pick

  • hey man, I am torn between one of these and a fender jazz 50th anniversary. I have pretty small hands, which would suit best?

  • @g4geetar They're both fantastic basses, but the Rickenbacker is more of a niche instrument and is not nearly as tonally versatile as a Jazz bass. If you already own a Jazz style bass, then go for the Rickenbacker, but if you don't then the Jazz is a must have. Jazz basses have slim necks and they're well suited to people with small hands, Rickenbacker necks vary from baseball bat thick to Ibanez thin.

  • remember kids,Paul McCartney owned this bass first, not Scott Pilgrim.

  • @NotRealFiction Paul McCartney

  • dear santa...

  • 3:36 ! 5:01 <3

  • So...Shiny!!

  • I own both a 4003 (2007) and a 4001 (1980), and the two basses are quite different. The cutaways on the 4001's are much wider than the 4003's, plus the neck on the 4001 feels a bit rounder. However, the 4001 is a bit more comfortable to play around the 1st fret than the 4003. And lastly, the 4001 weighs a little bit more than the 4003.

Those are the differences I noticed between the two instruments. As far as sound goes, they're not much different. But I prefer the 4001 over the 4003.

  • Rare to find one but even more rare for a lefty! :(

  • Hey I Watched! So Great Sounding Bass And So Great Demo You Done! Thank You! I Love All Instruments! I'm Just Only A Guitarist Who Play And Sing Feelings From My Soul And I Going To Create A Touring Show Band And Maybe The Whole Show! At The Monet I Looking For People To Make That Possible Especially The Drummer And The Bassist But Also All Others EG. Mixing, Lighting, Dancing, Servicing, Cooking, Organizing, Helping People Etc Maybe Someone From This Thread! I Give Thumbs Up! All The Best!Assa!

  • I've got one, and I can say: if you can buy one, BUY IT!!! it's the most awesome thing i've ever laid my hands on. my life has never been better. BUY ONE!!

  • what does the neck feel like? Is it more like a Precision bass or a jazz bass

  • Man I want this bass, please God,anyway.

  • The stock RIC strings are DiAddario: you can tell by the color of the ball ends.

  • @Philosopher131 The ones that we have been getting are Ric strings. The D'Addario have colored ball ends - these are the Ric strings with the solid silver balls.

  • Hi - these are the stock round wounds that come on the bass. They are Rickenbacker brand, but not sure who the winder is.

  • what kind of strings are on this ric, and are the rounds, any idea?

  • Aaaahhhhhhh I want one.

  • If memory serves me well, this was added about 5 years ago.

  • @bassemporium can u give me an exact year, I got a 2006 modle and I want to know if it has push pull

  • @ymfarhi I don't know the exact year - pull up on the Treble Tone knob - that is the knob where it is located.

  • @bassemporium It's 2006. Thanks for your help. My new Rickenbacker 4003 is better than I ever imagined it would be!

  • When was the push pull added?

  • This is exactly how a demo should be done!, a nice introduction overviewing the bass followed by playing with many tonal varieties with clear explanations! If anything i was you would have shown how it sounds with different techniques but great demo!

  • how much is it?

  • @DavidKim1985 probably around $2000

  • @DavidKim1985 bout $2500

  • Scott Pilgrim!

  • Beautiful bass!

  • Best basses on the market in my opinion, but thats also why they are so freaking expensive. Werent Rickenbackers much cheaper before they got so famous?

  • Wow. Geddy Lee's gone bald. :-) Lovely machine.

  • OHH MY GOD CHRISTMAS IS COMING PLS SANTA GIVE ME THIS BASS AND I'LL BE A GOOD BOY IN THE REST OF MY LIFE :D

  • @jplanta95 im getting a morley power wah boost XD NEXT CHRISTMAS I WANT THISSSSSSSSS

  • I didnt see u slap, r they good on slapping?

  • @Brian19451 they are EXCELLENT for slapping!!!!! i had 1 on my first tour and everyone thought i had a muTron on it

  • how much it costs?

  • the best demo of this bass on youtube....thank you

  • No - since the neck/body design, woods, etc. creates the majority of the tone, you will still have a jazz bass "signature sound". The only way to get a Rick sound is to get a Rick.

  • so is there a way to make my jazz bass sound like a rick by getting 2 pickups with the same polarity?

  • Wow. It almost sounds like a Jazz Bass. xD

  • But sooo worth it!

  • My dad used to have one of these.. But he sold it.. Why couldn't he just look into the future and realize that his future daughter plays the Bass, and wants a fukken Rickenbacker.. They are sooo expensive..

  • its SO SHINY I WANT IT

  • the first riff is from a song? I like it, would like try to play it.

  • so shiny... beautiful

  • Im pretty sure you can say it both ways

  • it's rickenbacker not rickenbocker!!!

  • Sweet for a 4 string! Too bad I quit playing 4 strings in '95. With the strong growth in the 5 string, I can't believe so many 4 strings are still available and selling.

  • @RonnyOnBass personally i like keeping it simple and go for 4 strings over 5 strings hands down. A lot of people think like I do, plus I think they look better hehehe

  • @bassbeatle To each their own... I think the 5'ver looks MILES better! Plus, a five string is much simpler for ME!

And it takes a more intelligent person to realize this. Just goes to show the intelligence of the masses!! LOW.

  • @RonnyOnBass it doesn't take intelligence to be an instrument snob. give me a break.

  • @soopahsoopah I'm glad you could admit your lack of intelligence, you MORON!!

  • @RonnyOnBass I hope you don't hit the B as much as you do the caps lock key. You've pretty much shown who the moron is. Posers like you that put form over function make for crap music every time.

  • @soopahsoopah TROLL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @RonnyOnBass I went from a 4 to a 5 and back to a 4 again. Didn't like the string spacing on the 5. And anything more than 4 strings is pretty much for lazy people unless you're a jazz player or your name is Les Claypool.

  • @yaoifanboykitty A moron is a moron and you can't change that! Dude YOU are a moron!! A 5 String takes more intelligence and it is definitely evident that you are lacking in that area BIG TIME!!

  • @TheBadAssKiller no he isn't, more then 4 strings are mainly used so players don't need to adjust tuning for certain songs. Example is metal, metal artists constantly need to change tuning on 4 string, so most use 5 so there is no need to change constantly. So to be fair, it requires less effort then 4 string.

  • @VigorousElf Well that too, but people around here are so lazy they just get a 5 string so they clan play open B instead of simply moving to the 7th fret on the E.

  • @TheBadAssKiller If you actually use a 5 string to its full use, then it serves a purpose. But most bass players around my area that play em just use em so they don't have to move their fingers as much. No need to get butt-hurt over my preference in bass guitars pal.

  • @yaoifanboykitty Glad I will never live in YOUR world!! Mines too intelligent for that!!

    Have a nice day!

  • @TheBadAssKiller Sorry pal, but you're pseudo-intelligence doesn't impress me. I'm sorry that you're existence is so bland, and your bass skills so poor that you have to stalk me on youtube and talk shit. Why don't you just shut up and go play some bass...

  • @yaoifanboykitty Morons will be morons and you pal, are a BIG one!

  • nice man...now send me one. hahahaha I'm poor and I really want one
