Interesting style of fighting... A good test of athleticism, both fighters looked good. I would have given this fight to Tamura on the basis he was the dominate fighter and he was the aggressor in a supposed draw.
This fight was ruled a draw. Tamura used a rope escape which is a point lost. Shamrock hit Tamura while grounded and Frank was not in a grounded position as well. That was illegal back then in Pancrase and that was also a penalty. At the end of the fight since both fighters lost points, the fight was ruled a draw.
tamura never got close to finishing frank. frank had him several times and used ropebreak 3 times. if this were pride or affliction frank won via submission. even though tamura controlled the pace frank was the only getting close to victory. even ufc would have scored it frank.
actually it was more the other way. this is the first fight in rings that i know for sure was legit. from the creation of rings until this fight, all of the fights were works. pancrase was almost all legit with an occasional work thrown in (shamrock v suzuki 2)
