I've watched a number of these destructive Boston Terrier videos, and the common thread I see through all of them is a) extensive use of baby talk, and b) the dog owners referring to themselves as mommy and daddy. Coincidence?
Petting him affectionately shows him praise for what he did, dont respond in such a lenient manner, you are confusing him and he is going to remain destructive. It takes some stern tough love and he will know better.
@uhdragon2 How do you know he was caught while chewing the books? I don't see that in the video. He might have been sleeping beside the books when the owner came in. But in case he was chewing the books at that moment, you are right.
UH OH. I know that face, have seen it on my guitly Boston Terrorist more than once. They are so incredibly sensitive to your mood, your voice, just everything--one of the main reasons I became such a fan. Those big, moony eyes, when they're sad: OUCH, total heartbreaker.

You know, it's funny: I've often been told by canine behaviorists that dogs put on the "guilty look" as a response to their owners reactions to a negative event rather than out of pure guilt. However, I think my boston terrier disproves this theory, as I'd find him with a similar stare/ posture as this vid, not knowing at first that anything was the matter, and then I'd have to go find out what he did because his face gave him away!

They chew when they are teething as puppies and later if they suffer from separation anxiety. Once they learn that you WILL return whenever you leave.....they will stop eating the house.

Our Boston was never a connoisseur of library paste, but when she was younger there was no such thing as a safe leather belt, headphone jack or pencil if she was left alone...key phrase left alone - Holly does not take kindly to her people deserting.
Spanky looks a lot like my Bella, but Bella has a full black heart as her marking on top of her head. She too has cost more money chewing up books! My son was banned from the school library for half a year. I couldn't hide them, she always found them lol!

im 14 yrs old and LOVE boston terriers. Ive asked my parents many times if we can get one and they always say no..we had a cat for 19yrs and since her death they use that as an excuse...I know i would give this dog the best life and i stick to my promises and am very responsible but they still say no...Ive showed them loads of vids of BT's but they still say no

I would respect your parents decision and show them how responsible you are with other things around the house. Ulitmately, a dog is a big responsibility and expense. You sweet spirit and hard work will go a long way to sway them to reconsider.
i dont have much to tell you but i do have a dog of my own, and it was VERY hard to get it. my dad said no 57 million times and the las time i asked i promised i would do eVERYTHING for it and even cleen indoor poop. he said he would give it 2 months and she was a good dog so now i can keep her. show your parents this and hopefully this helps! lOl ~ iluBieber43verr

I don't know your parents, but it might be funny and get their attention if you do a presentation on why you should get a dog and on Boston Terriers, complete with a powerpoint slideshow or bristol board for visuals. They all do that. They are like, the masters at looking oh so pityful and sorry and scared about it or guilty that you try to punish them, then you give them a big hug because you feel bad to make them feel so bad. Smart dogs lol

Our Boston was never a connoisseur of library paste, but when she was younger there was no such thing as a safe leather belt, headphone jack or pencil if she was left alone...key phrase left alone - Holly does not take kindly to her people deserting.

Spanky looks a lot like my Bella, but Bella has a full black heart as her marking on top of her head. She too has cost more money chewing up books! My son was banned from the school library for half a year. I couldn't hide them, she always found them lol!

just get one when you have enough money but get it from adoption site and tell ur parents you had to get her or him or they were gonna put he or she to sleep if their mad thier mad at least u have a boston terrier!

PLEASE HELP
im 14 yrs old and LOVE boston terriers. Ive asked my parents many times if we can get one and they always say no..we had a cat for 19yrs and since her death they use that as an excuse...I know i would give this dog the best life and i stick to my promises and am very responsible but they still say no...Ive showed them loads of vids of BT's but they still say no
Has anyone got any advice on how to persuade them?

I would respect your parents decision and show them how responsible you are with other things around the house. Ulitmately, a dog is a big responsibility and expense. You sweet spirit and hard work will go a long way to sway them to reconsider.

i dont have much to tell you but i do have a dog of my own, and it was VERY hard to get it. my dad said no 57 million times and the las time i asked i promised i would do eVERYTHING for it and even cleen indoor poop. he said he would give it 2 months and she was a good dog so now i can keep her. show your parents this and hopefully this helps! lOl ~ iluBieber43verr

@missamerica2013 When I was little and wanted something really bad, I had to make a presentation to my Dad. I don't know your parents, but it might be funny and get their attention if you do a presentation on why you should get a dog and on Boston Terriers, complete with a powerpoint slideshow or bristol board for visuals. Give it a shot :)

how funny, my boston blinks like 100 times ,and swallows, and yawns when they are guilty. boston terriers are all alike, my first dog was an english bulldog, he was very funny too.. but a boston is funnier...and sweeter. i will ALWAYS have a boston!!!!

lol my cousin's dog acts exactly the same way. he turns his head the other way but still rotates his eyes towards you. you just can't get mad at a face like that though lol!

haha typical boston..my lily acts the same way.its started as..LILY WHAT DID U DO?now if we say WHAT? she drops and looks at the ground.i swear ud think we beat her..shes never even been spanked. sometimes we take it too far cuz its so cute and i feel bad but this breed is made to love u..all they want to do is please please please u...other word that really trips her out is poop..i asked her if she pooped when she had an accident and she trembles.now i just say poop and she looks away lol

Lol He reminds me of my BT Spike (right down to his little beanie cap on his head). I call him monkey because he either is tearing something up or pooping on it. He's the best bad dog in the world! :-)
