  • this is my favorite psychedelic album , and it's mostly for the lyrics, I find it strange when people talk about the songs they tend to talk more about the music, when the comments are, words, you hardly ever see Odessa listed with top psychedelic albums it's a shame really psychedelic is that were put your head not about weird electric instruments

  • I love you Odessa!

  • In Italy, in 1969 - '70, it was the musical theme of a TV commercial (a "Carosello", as the Italian TV spots were called at that time) about the Cinzano spumante. The short was directed by Ermanno Olmi.

  • The cello solo is still the best I've ever heard in popular music.

  • @FDigithhim the cello is by Paul Buckmaster

  • found an original of this album at a local flea market few weeks ago.

  • Amazing! This is my first western bootleg album I bought in communist Russia 40 years ago!

Sounds AMAZING! And now, living in Los Angeles I understand what Bee Gees are singing about in this song!

Thank you for posting this great audio and lyrics, my friend!

  • Looks like 1 person was disappointed that it wasn't a Disco Song.

  • Es una preciosidad...uno de mis favoritos...esta música no pasará nunca...un clásico

  • So brilliant. Younger folks who think the Bee Gees are just disco need to hear this classic. There is simply nothing else out there that sounds like this. The emotion just pours from this song. Wish I could find a live version of it.

  • Okay! Okay! '65 Mustang... See what the 60's did? HA

    I'm outa here.

  • My brother came back, took his guitar (and '67 Mustang) back...But, the dreams remained, all the same. : )

  • Love this song.

  • Masters of vocal simplicity and harmonic grace. I was listening to my tiny transistor radio in my tiny bedroom late one night in 1965 and heard "Every Christian Lion-Hearted Man Will Tell You" from Bee Gees "First" and my life has never been the same. Life is so much larger because of these guys and the quality of their craft. Thank you for these post, whoever you are. : )

  • @harboot4 You would not have heard that particular song until 1967...thats when it was released on the album Bee Gees 1st

  • @17DJLOVER

You're right. I've had another senior moment. It was 1967. Senior year. I was thinking about the year my brother went to Vietnam and left me his guitar and many, many dreams. Thanks for the heads up. The rest of the story is true enough, though. : )

  • @harboot4 Yes a great album and a brilliant song too, I agree with you....take care

  • @17DJLOVER You seem to be more aware of the Bee Gees discology than many. I cannot find 2 Years On anywhere on Youtube. Can you find that album or its contents here? Just checking. Thanks and happy listening.

  • @harboot4 Just type in the particular track you wish to hear...there are some tracks available on you tube, my favourite is the 1st Mistake I Made, a stunning album! I do have the CD if thats any help, enjoy.

  • @17DJLOVER Hey, thanks. I have the vinyl. I was just curious why nothing comes up when I search 2 years on.

Everything else they ever did seems to be here, by album, except that. Did you know they performed a Coca Cola commercial in the 70's? Can't find that, yet either. Later, then...

  • @harboot4 The Coke commercials ("Sitting In The Meadow" and "Another Cold And Windy Day") were from 1968. Both are on the 2-disc deluxe edition of "Idea".

  • Comment removed

  • The Bee Gees =genius

  • This will be the album they are remembered for in 100 years...just sayin

  • I would compare this to Queen´s Bohemian Rhapsody. A wonderful song.

  • wow...did they cure cancer,too?

    Great song. Thanks for posting.

Let's keep our perspective on the band.

  • Had searched for this before and could not find it!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing this album.

  • Robin's the man!

  • classic' pity no video

  • If I could thumbs up this a hundred times I would, but one will have to do!!!!

  • sweet jaysus, my friend, thank ye so much for posting this.

  • Oh how lovely. I am so glad you posted these songs!

  • j'adore.............

  • I once met a girl called Odessa , she was the most amazing girl i have ever met . i still haven't met anyone as beautiful as her. My only regret was not marrying that girl :(

  • @rockynflora tell that to your kids

  • Die-hard fans will select among the works of their favouite artist group the most kept secret works to show their loyalty and selectivity... I select this "Odessa" from Bee Gees...

  • I live in Odessa lol

  • @TheGhostRage

Do you know that their late father Hugh Gibb was russian?

Barry himself said so in an interview.

  • lol I always thought they only made these 70s disco bullshit but this music is shattering beautiful and suprisingly ambitious. I love the baroque pop setting.

  • @Nakkinak ouch, you have a lot of catch up to do ;-) their first tv apearance dates back to 1960! Lot,s of various music styles. Beegess been covered bymany artist as well included Elvis Presley :-)

  • Good album. I wish someone would post the "Seven Seas Symphony" instrumental. Very beautiful.

  • @muncher64 I've always loved this album. And when you consider how young they were (the twins weren't even 20 yet), and that they didn't know how to read music, it's even more impressive, IMHO. I heard a story somewhere about them gathered around a tape recorder vocalizing the various parts of the "Seven Seas Symphony," which were later transcribed and orchestrated by someone else.

  • so clear i can feel the red felt on the cover jacket how time does fly

  • This is the first Beegees album I ever heard and also the only one I liked.

  • My Grandparents turned me on to the Bee Gees. I grew up hearing the songs. Granddad taught me some Bee Gees songs as I was learning guitar. The song Odessa also got me interested in playing Cello. I bought the deluxe version of this on CD last year. I'm currently trying to figure out playing this song on my guitars. I hear some people make fun of the Bee Gees. I love a lot of their songs no matter what the jokers say.I almost bought a Cello. Someday I will.Thank you to Bee Gees & Grandparents.

  • @saltcitysuesey

I'm waiting to watch here a video of you playing Odessa with the cello!.

  • So glad I wasn't named after this song or album!!!

  • U've got to have a big fat ego 2 do stuff like that! ahah basically in theory... punks R supposed to hate this kind of stuff... but i've listened here and there that the well known singer of the Sex Pistols (John Lydon) was a massive fan of the Bee Gees...

So i thank him 'cause there's afew people i know who are really into the kind of punk music...and are really quite surprised when i talk about this...

People should have 2B open minded and curious...after all the bees are Rarely Disco...

  • Their best work

  • Sheer Brilliance..... OUTSTANDING

  • The Bee Gees were in a class of their own! No one else has ever sounded like them.

  • One of my favorite Bee Gee songs. Robins vocal is hauntingly beautiful and Odessa is one of their best albums.

  • Comprei este disco dos Bee Gees em 1969 em São Paulo e ouvia esta linda melodia clássica sem me cansar por várias horas, de tão bela e melodiosa saciava minha rebeldia e minha ansiedade nesta cidade solidão..

  • Such a classic!!!!

They were and still are the Beethoven, Chopin and Bach of modern music!!!!

    They're EVERLASTING!!!!

  • @dedem745 well said .......i truly beleive in them...
