I think you can put in your list of Influences Helios Creed, Jesus and Mary chain, spacemen 3, loop The list could be never ending as the 13th floors was such a major force in making a Noise and dont try to conform to the Populous ., But just make it Psychedelic
He's been ripped off for so many ideas. However, when you hear the 'real deal' there can be no doubt that Roky Ericson just had that indescribalbe something, Just Brilliant!
Besides lending his unique vocals to the Elevators, Roky Erickson loaned his unique vocals to Janis Joplin. Coming form a folk and blues background, and having been asked to now front a Rock band, Janis sought, and found, a Rock style that suited her, in Erickson. That he was a fellow Texan, may have helped as well. That's not to say that Janis was not a fantastic singer in her own right, but it was Erickson she looked to, for part of the style that would help propel her to success in Rock.
Thumbs up for Frank Whaley playing Roky in a film!!!!

I love his dark sound it reminds of Black sabbath. He looks kind of like a werewolf with the sideburns and unibrow.
