Great song, this was the one song I was disappointed about Gary leaving out of his sets both times I saw him, but understandable why he did it. The effects in the video look really cheesy looking back at them
Awesome video...I that images/video clips from "the Troubles" were chosen. It just goes to show you that not all Irish rock-music legends don't forget their home, nor do they forget the terrible things Britain brought upon their brothers. These guys are legends, not Bono. As much as I loved U2, they're to addicted to the money. These lads are in it for love. By the way, listen @ 1:59-2:25. That sound just touches my soul. R.I.P Moore & Lynott
I still can't believe Gary Moore is dead. I grew up listening to him, especially during the Victims period up to After hours then I lost interest a bit but always checked up on him now and again. I really likes his last album and then he died. Saw him live a few times, great player.
@greatorder In terms of song structure and sound, this is very close to what would become Power Metal a few years later which is no coincidence. It's still rock but it's in that grey area between rock and metal while Sonata Arctica's cover version takes it into full on metal.
RIP to both of these great musicians - such a loss to the world - you never know when dealth will take a person as is sung " Death is just a heartbeat away" :(
Gary Moore was my hero when I was young. Gary and Phil would kick arse today against the so called indie bands that we have to suffer. I also want GM to be in hall of fame. The shite middle class crap we have to listen to now is offensive. VIVA Gary and PHIL!!!
that really long guitar gary is playing is a synchroguitar, you can get that instrument to pretty much imitate any tone and sound you can possibly think of. :)
@anarchykid2688 That's because this song was a prototype for the later Power Metal subgenre (listen to how well the Sonata Arctica cover fits for proof) which the various DBZ soundtracks would go on to steal from. As for the guitar cam, yes, this is where Guitar Hero and Rock Band got the idea.
BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied
@11alex11able OK, maybe hate's the wrong word... It's just so God-awful and cheesy. A lot of Gary's videos seem to be like that. Still, it doesn't stop me loving him and his music.
@DeathBat12051992 Funny i had a different path i first heard him through reinxeed's cover of thunder rising, i always thought they where sonata songs, shows how little i know.
