I wasn't going to comment on this because I just came to listen to the song, but then I saw the video surrounded by Rihanna and on the side some Jessie J song that has almost 200,000,000 and this has only 6,000,000 views....? What the fuck happened. Where exactly did we go wrong because THIS. This is music.
@CatsAreFloppy That was weird, i noticed and thought the EXACT same thing then read the first comment and was like "i just got mind fucked". Good to know other people think like me, proves im not insane.

@FaayeLu as far as i have ever been able to make out, simply the cycle of life, a new life comming into the world, and an old one passing on. still, it's a beautiful song, whatever the meaning.
Pink sucks. Live rocks. I dislike pink a lot. She sang a song about getting f**ked while she was pregnant on TV for some music awards. Great example for people huh? Her music makes me want to shove pencils in my ears.
when i first seen this music video i cried, 4 weeks before this song came out my friends wife dead while giving birth, about 2 months later on he heard this song and said i be damn they got a song for ever thing.
Under the related artist tab on my phone it says Lady Gaga... Since when is Lady Gaga anything like this amazing music??? I love Lady Gaga but seriously??? Lady Gaga's music sounds nothing like this!!!
nichemeerkat: Samsara? Are you fucking kidding me? When I wasn't fighting Islamic terrorists, I spent another 10 years of my career in the Orient, and I know more than your touchy-feely college bullshit; real Oriental Buddhists revere countless sects & prophets, and some are decent, some are ludicrous, some charlatans who rip people off, some cliques of decent monks trying to do good, but overall it's bullshit, and most educated Orientals are atheists, and very happy being so.
Technically, the band dedicated this to Barbara Lewis, one of their friends who was killed by a drunk driver. The songs lyrics are mostly an analogy. These lyrics are constantly misunderstood! Yes, Ed is speaking to the circle of life, but specifically to how Barb's life gave new life to many. The angel, the baby down the hall, the pale blue eyes (of Barb), the pain ("confusion")... the lyrics are wholly Ed's interpretation of his experience and perception of Barb's impact.
i heard this song for the first time right after my mother just had passed away.. i was crushed.. but truly belive that this song helped me to carry on.. thanks ed!!!
Three different explanations of this song's meaning just on the first page of comments, and they're all wrong. The lead singer wrote it, and he's told the world what it's about. It's a song about life and death, and how both happen so frequently.
I love how Tyga, or lil wayne has over 50,000,000 views on there videos and they say the same Shit over and over again. WHAT HAS COME TO THIS WORLD, everyone dresses and acts as not who they really are... people, kids even at my school wear hollister and say i smoke weed, just to be cool i hate it. they do it to be cool but there not even thereselves. and listen to junky rap music that means NOTHING at all. I hope 2012, the end of the world really does happen because life is just a COPY n PASTE.
Great song.. playing a show with this guy tomorrow. Reminds me of being a kid.. Gonna be a sobering experience playing with a person you grew up listening to on the radio!
@Dimesbagg Can i ask were the hell did you guys come up with its a fail. That is some wacked out shit..It is a fail..Sounds like something a machine would say??We are not machines..Peace and have a good 2012
@mdelair420 I mean the younger group by saying (you guys)..Never said you people...I mean no harm..The first place i read that or heard it was on utube..Most of my gen just dont talk that way unless they learned it here....So no big deal.I just find it amusing and unusual..Take it easy and have a good one..Latter
This is a great, great song. Nothing like this on the radio today. This song just has so much feeling in it. I think a lot of today's artists would do better to put out something they really feel passionately about, rather than something that they think will sell a lot of ringtones. We always have 90s music though! Thanks for posting!
I heard this song this morning on the radio, haven't heard it in many years. Tomorrow is my youngest sons 2nd birthday. 3 weeks before his birth in 2010 my father murdered my younger sister and then took his own life. This song is making me cry. The words didn't mean much to me when I was younger but now they do.
Am I the only one who reads peoples responses to older comments then feels obligated to search for what feels like forever to find out why they said what they said?..... at least I have good music to comfort me while I search
@patrose1231 Its grammar not grammer you fucking idiot. Quick to criticize someone else's spelling but your very own sucks. What a dumb ass. What kind of computer are you using anyway, doesn't everything have the spell check feature? What's your excuse?
As I read through some of these comments on this page I noticed that this song means a lot to some people but is it just me or is some of these people grammar all fucked up? Just an observation not trying to stir up anything. Seriously people, get with the fucking program. Read a book and get off your iPods and XBox and learn how to spell.
This song is so emotional to me, my youngest son was born in a thunder & lightning storm. My grandmother passed away 2 months before from alzheimers, so she didn't get to see him. The lyrics where an old mother dies & a new life comes into the world have so much meaning to me, my grandmother would have loved to see my son, she loved babies. And I wonder during my sons birth & the thunder and lightning, if she was there in spirit to see him? I like to think so, miss her so much :(
And I would like to think her soul and energy were passed along to my son. She was such a loving, devoted person and to this day so is my son and of the 3 of my sons, he is the closest and most loving to me. Thank you, Nan, love and miss you so much :)
This song really reminds me of my great uncle. I had only met him 3 or 4 times but everyone in my family always told me how much we look alike. This past summer my great uncle was shoot in the neck and killed. He was shoot because a woman in his truck company asked him for help and her insane husband assumed that he was the man making his wife cheat when really my uncle had nothing to do with this, and was shoot for no reason. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY UNCLE , WE LOVE AND MISS YOU UNCLE TONY.
why am i seeing rihana next to the video and her broke english songs, the real music is this, unfortunately people dont listen to awesome bands like this
It's about Samsara, the Buddhist concept of the continuous flow of life. The clip demonstrates how when an old lady dies she is instantly reborn as a child elsewhere. Reincarnation basically. Live were well-known for their Eastern philosophies present throughout their music, lyrics and video clips.
This song was writen by a band member, who had a friend who died in a car crash, her organs and tissues where donated. Later the band member became very close friend to the person who received the heart. (when it says ' the confusion now belongs to the baby down the hall..." it all regarding to all the people who were blessed with organs and tissues.
@jvhooft That is completely irrelevant to his comment, and I really doubt money was a concern. This album sold 8 million copies in the U.S. alone, so I think they are all financially set for life.
@xXGhilliedxSamuraiXx No actually its about and Old lady dieng and a child being born the mother doesnt actually die but the video is very misleading.
@AprilMarcoux Kowalczyk says "Lightning Crashes" has caused misinterpretations of the song's intent. "While the clip is shot in a home enviro, I envisioned it taking place in a hospital, where all these simultaneous deaths & births are going on, one family mourning the loss of a woman while a screaming baby emerges from a young mother in another room. Nobody's dying in the act of childbirth, as some viewers think. What you're seeing is actually a happy ending based on transference of life.
Being an old guy, I only discovered Live recently. They are every bit as good as the supergroups of the 60s and 70s, Floyd, The Stones et al. Their front man is amazing. For them music is an art form, not just nursery school music like now.

lightning crashes a new mother cries this is my fav so this song is the song is the same song that my mom played at my step moms funeral i cried for about 3 weeks every time i hear this i cry still R.I.P SUE i miss u so much
@TributesToYngwie SO HARD... YE-YE-YEAH! Ah yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm so hard So hard, so hard, so hard, so hard :P I'm sure you didn't mean to quote her song in the midst of your sarcasm but I found it ironic!
Remember watching song with my brother and just thinking how much this song impacted us and we started to think different about life and whats important to us in life at an early age. singing along quietly.
Feels good to watch it again after a long time sadly my brother is not here to watch it with me, i love you BEN forever with me.. will keep singing it for us...
Sicken: thanks for the mention, but you got me all wrong, fucker; you really think I have an "empathy" problem? You are so wrong: true, I despise the stupid and the brutal, but what is it you think a Marine does (besides kill?) as a senior NCO I spent most of my own pay-check taking care of the idiots under me with way too many kids and wives and not enough money, so FUCK you for saying I have no "empathy."
stinkslikesalmon: I don't need to get respect, fucktard; I've earned it; you must be at least 16, using such bullshit language with me, a retired Marine: you young cunts kill each other over Nike shoes and wheel-rims, and insults in a bar or in the street outside a rave club. I, on the other hand, have held, with my men and my officers, the destinies of several nations in my hands, during my career: so fuck you, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about, moron.

Hello Everybody!!
There’s nothing that I want more than to come true my dream.
Day and night I always dream with open eyes.
When I sing I can be who really I am and there’s a me no one knows.
Now I can say “Music is who I am not what I do”
Singing is a way to express oneself emotions through a song.
All I just want is a chance.
Please stop by my channel and check out some covers I’ve uploaded.
I’ll be grateful, Thank you so much!!

I remember watching MTV back when they used to show music videos back in 1994 and seeing this video for the first time. Epic then and still Epic. Shame music today is not half as great as it was between 1990-1994

@TheCorporalClegg Holy hell, you're right. They sure don't sound like the 90's to me.
gotmilk606 1 month ago
@TheCorporalClegg Youtube wasn't around in 2004. The 2004 date is just a copyright renewal of the song which came out in 1994
