picked for 10 years, and tried to stop past yea...even threw away all lightbulbs in my apt and ripped mirrors out of my car. I have not picked for 5 days after practicing the secret/visualization for several months...it worked miracles! Try it!
I have had dermatillomania (skin picking) for about 15 years. I'm 24. In just these past 4 or 5 months, ive gone to therapy and found out my picking has a name and is actually a condition. And its just been the last couple of days that I looked it up on the internet and found that im not alone!! Which is a really great feeling :) My condition effects every aspect of my life and i do really appreciate these vlogs immensely. There is a product out there that really is amazing at healing not only

I do this. I just kind of looked it up because i'm tired of picking at my skin when i notice one teeny tiny bump. I just looked up that website and realized that i have a problem. I didnt even know i was taking my stress out on my body. I pick at my face until i bleed, scabs, razorburn, and i've bit my nails since i can remember. I will even pick at bumps on my back i cant even see.. Thank you so much for posting this and helping me realize i can fix this!
this is so true and exactly what i do. i feel better that im not the only one who acts like this. i feel loads better after watching this video. thanks! :-)
Thank you! This video meant a lot. You're right - if you stumble once during a 30-day challenge, it's not the end of the world. It will be OK, and you will recover!!!
Since I was in daycare I've picked at my mosquito/bug bites and have over 20 scars on my left arm alone. My legs have way more, and I'm embarrassed to wear shorts and t-shirts because of giant, bleeding scabs everywhere. I mostly pick right before I go to bed when I'm tired. Thank you so much for inspiring me to stop ^_^!
thank you so much for your video! A tip that has really worked for me is to get rid of all the mirrors in my bathroom...as well as to limit any time spent in front of a mirror. Another way to cure this habit is just to remain busy as much as you can. Get out of the house, go for a walk, go shopping or to a movie, anything, just get away from places that you know you will pick!
Good luck all of you!
** and I will be trying the one month challenge as well...wish me luck guys!
The American Institute Of Advanced Medicine can help! They have over 25 years experience and over 90% success rate for a varity for skin disorders including cystic acne check out theaiam.com their protocols really work!!
Their medication is FDA approved with no side effects! ** Not a scam!
I love your one month challenge! I'm gonna try for something small tho... like one day! It's very hard for me but if I can accomplish even just one day to stop picking, then there must be hope. Thank you so much! You're beautiful!!
Thank you sooo much, I suffer with the obsession of wanting to "fix" my skin and always always make a mess, Presently I am attempting to apply the 12 steps to my skin picking. Thank you so much for speaking out that there is hope and we do recover.
having cystic acne, and dermatillomania is probably the most challenging thing ive ever had to overcome. its been about 4 months of this contant battle against these two problems. ive completely destroyed every inch of my face. its depresses me knowing that even when my face clears up, ill be covered in horrible scars. if it werent for my boyfriend id be dead right now. i owe him my life.
Watching this video was quite the wake up call, and actually caused me to start crying at the realization of what I'm doing. I've been picking since 13, and I'm 20 now. It's been almost a daily thing, and it's even gone to my chest, back, arms, wherever acne shows up...
I know this is silly but I didn't think there were that many, especially not as severe, as my case. I take comfort in knowing I'm not the only one, and thank you for this video. I'm going to stop this. Whatever it takes. <3
I also suffer from it, but I have recently thought of placing sticky note reminders on my bathroom mirror to remind me when I'm going to go do it, it may also help to print out pictures of the aftermath of picking and taping it to your mirror as well. So while you're living in the now, you'll also be reminded of the future and the damage you're causing, so the 'now' won't be as appealing.
In the NOW, you hit the nail on the black head ;--) It was a meditation moment for me. Been doing it for over 15 + years, better stop today because the spots just keep reappearing to supply you a meditation! Wonderful work to bring it out in the open. Up to today I didn't know it had a name, I knew quiet a few who once shared they had a similar problem, makes it less bad to know you are not the only one. Thank you girl you do great work, peace
Im having a hard time with picking my face and back. Can you give me some ideas about what I should do productivly other than obsessing and picking at my skin?
I'm a chronic picker, and I understand why I do it. It's my way of releasing stress and most of the time I do it unconsciously. My self confidence is shattered and though I've tried to stop multiple times, I keep failing. It's somewhat of a vicious cycle: I pick my face because I already feel ugly, and I feel ugly because I pick on my face.
I feel there is no hope. Great video, I really admire your determination to stop such a harmful activity.
This comment made me burst into tears. I feel exactl exactly the same. The picking only subsides when my wonderful boyfriend is around me. Ive asked him to yell at me whenever he sees me fingering over my face for bumps. It is totally humilliating to be told by someone you love that they notice your habit, but it DOES owrk to help you stop. The real problem is when youre alone, and no-one is around to remind you. Much of my picking is unconscious too. xxx
@rainbowdolly ah god i am in tears reading these comments as well... I have been severely picking my skin for almost 11 years now and it is ruining my life with the scabs and scarring I constantly have to hide. I know I have to stop and I know HOW to stop since I've gone to therapists and researched it so much but it's all up to me and having the will to do it. It's so hard but we have to discipline ourselves and save our skin from being destroyed even further. Good luck to you sweetie! <3
Thank u soo much! I don't have a large skin picking problem on my face, but I have eczema on my neck and the pits of my elbows, and I've been told that I get this crazed look when I scratch those areas until they hurt enough for the itchiness to go away... This video just picked me up and told me that I should just stop and have a rethink about what I'm doing :)
i do compulsive skin picking. and i have been doin it for almost 4 years.i know i've had this problem i just didn't know that there was a name for it. i believe my problem started wen my mother pretty much force me to wear makeup every day and trying to achieve the Perfect look. i've been trying to stop and couldn't. i'm still trying and still unsuccessful
well I think that (and correct me if I'm wrong) usually people who skin pick (like myself) often feel really badly about themselves and also their skin, which just causes them to pick more and more. I think what really helps is to boost your self-esteem and try to learn how to love yourself or practice self-love.
I learned that everyone has skin problems, and that I shouldn't scrutinize myself so harshly. But I also skin pick out of stress so I've been trying hard to write in a journal instead.
thank you so much for posting this... i broke down today after yet another pick.. i think this was set off from a break up (she cheated on me frequently and it destroyed my self esteem)... I'm trying very hard to stop picking to let this all heal but its so hard sometimes and this surely motivated me :) thankyou!
thanks so much for this video. i ALWAYS pick at my skin, usually on my arms. All these judgey kids at my school will always look at my arms, then look in my eyes. I get made fun of constantly for it. Thanks so much and i will definitely try this challenge.
I have the SAME problem! I can never wear tang tops, it's emabarassing, I tried everything to get rid of the scars but they are white and just won't go away. I am afraid to go to the dermatologist b/c I am afraid that they will judge me and try to put me on stuff that just won't help. I heard that the only way you can get rid of the scars is through laser/not gauranteed though and too expensive. It's soooo embarassing!
I'm so glad I found this. I thought I was the only one who had that problem. I've been picking for a good 5 years, I'm currently 20. I'm pretty bad with my arms, chest and sometimes face - thankfully I've gotten good with make up! But even since primary school I remember getting scabs on my ears from scratching. So I simply moved to my arms, and then chest when I was supposed to hit puberty. I'm still pretty bad but this has given me hope, and motivation to find a way to stop.
I use herbal Acne Tab from speedyherbcare. It is the Acne medication without having any harmful side effects. It is a slow medication process but now I am getting good results.

What helps me is to not let myself look in the mirror when I feel like I might pick. Sometimes I brush my teeth with the lights off or read a book while I'm brushing my teeth. It's a topic noone ever talks about, so i appreciate you doing it! It's a habit ( a nasty one too). Your skin looks so perfect, what is your skincare routine? I prefer natural approaches though. Thanks!
If you wanted to know her routine, you should go to her site. She's very picky when it comes to products she uses and also prefers natural over chemical ways, so you should definitely check it out.
I can relate to this I'm getting bettter you know there have been times I've even wanted to pick someone elses skin. Now I know that's some underlying issue with me. I'm commiting myself to the 30 day challenge! Your gorgeous! Thanks for making these videos.

I can relate to this I'm getting bettter you know there have been times I've even wanted to pick someone elses skin. Now I know that's some underlying issue with me. I'm commiting myself to the 30 day challenge! Your gorgeous! Thanks for making these videos.
