A very expressive slow movement that's more appreciated on multiple hearing.

Oops!
This is the Berlin Philharmonic, not the Bavarian orchestra. From 1965. I have the cd.
Sorry.

Yes, Mathi80, this is quite a lovely slow movement by Bruckner. However, I believe his 3rd and 7th symphonies have more beautiful adagios.
This recording is by Eugen Jochum from the middle 1960`s with the Bavarian National Orchestra. The label is Deutsche Grammophon.
12clar3412clar34 has also downloaded Jochum`s fine Bruckner Symphony No. 3 on Youtube from 1967. It is even better than this second symphony!
Thank you, 12clar341, for your generosity and wondrous selections!!
Great recording! This is one of my favourite Bruckner movements altogether, despite many musicians saying that Bruckner found his "real" style only from 3rd symphony onwards - what a hooey! Who's playing & conducting please?

@Mathi80 I agree - this movement is terrific, and so is the slow movement of No. 2. Bruckner simply is the greatest writer of Adagios.

This is great music. Strong as Bach, but more sombre (as i feel it. But of course thats personal.)

No-one beats Bruckner. Not a note wasted.
