  • I flagged this video....as Awesome As Fuck!!!

  • best song by them imo along with 'all the time'.

and no, im not saying that to be 'different', when i got the albums i listened to them 1000 times and they stood out.

  • I remember writing a comment asking Green Day to play old songs, like 3-4 years ago... DAMMIT THEY HEARD ME :O

  • only a true fan knows this song :)

  • THE BEST SONG FROM KERPLUNK!!

  • If you're a guitarist, try imitating Billie's strumming pattern.. you'll be mind fucked.

  • @xINiNJAzIx i started playing green day songs 10 years ago and learned to play through billie joe, so for me its logical. But i guess it's a strange way to play..

  • thumbs up if Green Day is one of the greatest bands ever!!!!!!

  • Tre is a god.

  • green day isn't punk rock it deserves its own category ! :)

  • i just watched the video where they play it at the pinole high school...no applause ofc

BUT now...people gets fucked up :)

  • Love it when they play the oldies, I went Fucking crazy when i saw them play paper lanterns!! :D

  • good thing about the crowd quite for kurplunk and smooth songs is you can hear it better.

  • i love the people who think that green day isnt deep :D:D:D. dogs that never learned to read

  • i love this songgg :)

  • Best live version of that song right there.

  • Best song from AAF in my opinion :D Check my cover out of this if you have time :)

  • Omfg jealousjealousjealous. This is easily in my top 5 favorite GD songs of all-time. I thought I would never even hear a modern replaying of it live. I'm so happy that they're not ignoring their old classics. This song is fucking brilliant.

  • I love Green Day's old and new songs. But the old tracks is reminiscent of the good old days. New songs are there that they also formed the good memories and times. Green Day is the best band ever because they play all the songs damn well! I love Green Day!! GD 4EVER!!

  • classic classic stuff thanks for posting i miss the 90s

  • @SunshineQP you mean 80s oops lol im not deleting it so we can all laugh at me ya forgot kurplunk is early 90s i just love 39 smooth way more.

  • This show was amazing...besides the fact that I had to win the tickets, a buddy and I had 4 "jays" ready to go and specific oldies we had to smoke them for...We were basically smoking them every other song once they started playing Burnout...2000 Lightyears, Holden Caufield, and Christie Road

  • They're best song.

  • screeching weasel has a song called, "i wrote holden caulfield"

  • I love 'The Catcher in the Rye'. I love this song even more.

  • My favorite Green Day song!

  • Great green day song they need to Play the real old ones more

  • @nixta217 they always do... lol dunno if youve been to any of their concerts

  • THis was such an amazing show!!!!!

  • wat was the exact setlist for this concert?

  • The Catcher in the Rye is my favourite book.

Not because of this song--however, I FREAKED OUT when I found out Green Day had written a song about Holden Caulfield.

Is it weird that I think I might give my future son the middle name Holden?

  • @Morphadyte shit that's an awesome name :) I remember a while ago I looked up the meaning of that name.. it means "Hollow In The Valley" (:

  • @caderarms I know it's an awesome name :D Happy Holidays!

  • if I had been there, would have cried, jumped and shouted at the same time. had pushed those who were static without knowing the lyrics, that would have been the best night of my fucking life. why they do not appreciate when Green Day played their old songs? it pisses me off. I'm very sorry , mi english is not god.

  • At certain angles that "wolfgang puck" sign may look a bit curious...

  • @TheSimplestThing lol, I was just thinking that.

  • looovveee this song

  • llooovvveee this song

  • does anyone else think that they play there old stuff .... almost better now ? i saw them in bristow in august and they played paper lanterns and she and 2000 light years away and it rocked to no end... i think thats just green day though ;0

  • in the fond there is something that say wolfgang something like that and down its like saying FUCK but i dont know says puck.. or something like that lol love that song!

  • I love how green day has their set new songs they play in every show and then just play different older songs at every concert. Makes each concert it's own individual experience

  • YEAH!!! KERPLUNK FTW!!

  • seems a bit slower to me but it sounds exactly as it does off of kerplunk

  • *W* <3<3<3<3

  • THIS SONG ROX MY SOX!

  • Sound reminds me of one of my best friends. In addition to my favorite book :)

  • @InsaneJediGirl Catcher in the Rye?

  • @chaosfilms9295 ...Yes..

  • @InsaneJediGirl I guess that's pointing out the obvious, eh? It is a great book though. :)

  • lovely setlist! would love to see all theese songs live one day. probably wont happen tho :(

  • I fucking love this concert

  • @130551996 this is off kerplunk look it up its pretty good.also look up 1039 smoothed out slappy hour

  • @130551996 how is this generic? and explains to me in one way how the chord progression in holiday is UNIQUE? Its punk rock man, it doesnt have to be hard.

And anyways i think mostly all of Billie Joes riffs are different in there own ways. He has his own style.

  • @MrCrimpshrine I agree with you 100% man.

  • @130551996 you sir are an idiot

  • I feel bad that you had to worry about the camera so much instead of enjoying the performance.... but on behalf of everyone thats watching this, thank you :)

  • amazing song

  • i would die to see this

  • Man the track list for this show was fucking perfect

  • Awesome setlist, good quality audio. Fantastic!

  • nosaintinla you lucky bastard1!!

  • SOMEONE TELL ME THIS SHOW PLEASE

  • Maybe they just found it more tasteful to slow it down. Lets face it- Who Wrote Holden Caulfield is a REALLY fast song.

  • loved this show! they played most of their old stuff :D and best of alll it was free xD i was kinda pissed offf because a lot of fucking pousers went that only wanted to hear '21 guns' and they started fucking complaining about the mosh pits. but whatever i had a goood time :)

  • he sounds so good at 2:42 , i love that song

  • Yeah, I can play it as fast as they play it too, but think about it. He has been running around the stage the whole night. He is exhausted. So it makes sense to slow it down. And what I meant by actually listen to the record was, listen to it again and think about how hard it would be to play it that fast after being so tired.

  • They slow it down so much..

    But I don't which version I like more o.O

  • @Klarid That's because it is hard to play it really fast.

  • @germanfuzaloo

    Not for them...

I thought it might be because Billie's arm was tired or something, and he started it off too slow, or because they hadn't played it in a long time, and just didn't know it.

But no dude, it's not because it's too hard to play fast XD

  • @Klarid Actually listen to the record, it is really hard to play that palm mute fast. So to avoid mistakes they play a little slower. A lot of bands do that.

  • @germanfuzaloo

Lol, okay, it's possible, but I'm betting more on a stylistic thing. Cause when they made that record, they already had a TON more experience than I do, and I can play it up to speed...

And uh.. "Actually listen to the record" Lol What did you think I was referring to when I said they slow it down?

And the slow-down is more so in the chorus than the verse...

  • @germanfuzaloo

Oh wow, wrong video about the tired stuff... That was a different one at a Chicago show XD

So it's probably a stylistic thing..

  • The best song from kerplunk, And a very nice set list !

    Wish i were there

  • this song is definitely the best off of Kerplunk, hands down..... great vid!!! great sound!!!

  • this song just gives me the chills

  • Oh, I love this song.

  • this was there best set list in years!

  • @skotty1992 It was great but a little too short in my opinion. 21 songs only. But enough if you just wanna have a nice time with the best band in the world.

  • @skotty1992 Have you seen Costa Rica Set list? That Was the best, even better than this, I WAS THERE by the way. And The Crowd sucks.

  • @skotty1992

    indeed

  • @skotty1992 no, the best was the Costa Rica setlist.

  • Ohh man...my friend and i were supposed to go to this one..(its a free concert) but we thought they wouldnt have room or we would be in the very back or something =/...jeez.

  • This is really cool. The old songs sound just as fresh as on old concerts, unlike other bands that just don't sound right when they do that.

  • this gave me the chills!

  • Holy shit my favorite song of Kerplunk

I play this, who wrote a holden caulfield,

in guitar everyday, and never gets boring

    Vocals, too.

  • was this the free concert?

  • yeah it was :)

  • they played this song too?! DAMN IT

  • this is actually pretty good quality...

  • that concert was freaken awsum but really short...billie joes son was there nd hes so cute

  • R.I.P. JD Salinger... Thanks for that awesome book. I've read it at least 4 times and I love it. And thanks to Green Day for this amazing song!

  • who are the fucking happy people who where on this amazing concert with all this WONDERFUL songs??

    i wish i was there

  • i am one of them.

  • lucky you

i whish i was you at that day ^^

  • haha meee :D i wasnt expecting them to play so many old songs. AMAZING ♥

  • please send me the memories!!!!

    you´re sooooooo lucky

  • Im reading "The Catcher in the Rye, and Holden Caulfield is the main character. good book and good song!

  • i'm confused, if this was a New Year's Eve show, then why was it in November....?

  • They didn't play live on new years. It was filmed in november. Shouldn't be that hard to understand.

  • ok now i understand, sorry

  • @TMZfanatic

    it wasnt live.

  • lol i know that now

  • My favorite track from Kerplunk. Awesome!

  • what's that at 2:48 that almost beat Mr Tré Cool

    Love Green Day

  • Totally amazing... COOL

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • One of their greatest song!

  • This was a great, great show, I was so glad they played so many "oldies". But yeah, only a few people were singing along which was slightly disappointing but I made up for them, volume wise.

  • almost nobody knows the old stuff anymore. its sad, because some of the older stuff is just as good as American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown

  • And some, is even better! :)

  • @BillieMockrat yeah im hearing ya....when they played in sydney and broke out the oldies like 'going to pasalaqua' the stadium went silent!!!...i reckon half the crowd wern't even true fans...if you dont know the old songs dont call yourself a true green day fan!!

  • @dukebullterrier I'm going to their concert at DTE in august and some of my friends are going... 2 of 6 know the album Kerplunk even exsists!

  • @dukebullterrier So true.

  • @dukebullterrier That's just ignorant. You know what? No. New rule. If you don't own the Slappy EP, you're not a true Green Day fan.

    :\

  • @emphaticleech Rules are so not punk.. (neither is what ive said)

  • @summerofska You missed the irony, obviously.

  • @emphaticleech there should be an irony font y'now? lol

  • @dukebullterrier you are so correct they need to hear kerplunk they probably would like it

  • @dukebullterrier I don't know where Ive seen it. but mike, billie or tre said when they see that people don't know their old stuff they are proud of their new ones. because they tried to top dookie. that wasn't easy. but so they see they did.

  • @dukebullterrier exactly i hate people they say its about age! its about what you like and listen to!

i listen to all there stuff and love it but i did only get into them after american idiot but the last albun they released before am was Warning in 2000 and i was only 6 then

  • @KetchupKidable yea i got into them through like two songs off AI then i started listening to dookie and it went on from there! :)

  • @dukebullterrier Although it's dissapointing a lot of people haven't heard a lot of GD's older stuff. Your comment is the definition of hipster bullshit which is ruining music these days...

  • @dukebullterrier yeah u couodnt have explained it better brother, i just left the exact same comment u did just now on another vid

  • @BillieMockrat It's a shame, all Green Day is perfection, and I'm kind of disappointed that when I went to see Green Day, they only played 2,000 Light Years Away from Kerplunk and no 39/Smooth.

  • @BillieMockrat YEA !!!!!

  • Awesome! Great song! I wish I was there *ç* XD

    PS: I agree with MrGreenDayLive

  • my favorite from kerplunk, i had to be there...

  • FODA!

  • Nice to see there was a good few people singing along. Great song, possibly my favourite Green Day song.

  • awesome !

    thanks man ! :D

  • hell yeah!
