This music makes me think of the transition from "life" to "death". Especially when the music blends into one tone from around 7:00 and then the subtle change at the end.
It's like the noise of the world we knew fades away and a shift in consciousness occurs.
For a long time this song has given me the image of a frail man nearing death but being at peace and ready to pass on. It's hard to imagine such a simple work evoking such complex emotions. It's also hard to imagine why SAW II isn't being compared to Mozart's greatest work and is not being taught in music theory class. Because it is THAT IMPORTANT to music.
I prefer "sheets" to this....Old man dying? Depends on how you view death...I'd like to be frail and dying with Jazz thumping away in the background, cause somehow, I think there's another world we go to when we die - so we should be happy discarding this old body and old world for a new one...!
I still can't get use to Aphix Twin!
Someone please tell me another work I can listen to which might make me change my mind!
Some good tracks he made are... Rhubarb, Flim, stone in focus, 4, boy-girl song. My fav has to be windowlicker... nothing like this, but gets the blood pumping!
it sucks that this song is mono on here.. its called parallel stripes because when listened to in stereo, there are two vertical "stripes" of constant tone, one panned left and one right, and the moving sounds are designed to crawl in between and behind and all around the stripes. this whole album is a different kind of music experience beyond just melody and rhythm.
Camcorder videography of Tie-dye t-shirts, with added in visual affects? I'm not gonna lie - as amateur as that sounds - very skillful. I like this style - very home-made, and realistic in a sense. VERY well done.
I agree Blackfish.

Add &fmt=18 at the end of the link to view the video in Stereo. Dumb, I know, but it works.

This sounds like a slowed-down version of incidental music in a forest scene of Robin Hood, which is not necessarily a bad thing!
