vtsaccounis. I am going to practise mandolin listening to your bouzouki version- it is perfect- but never on Sunday! I used to use an old Chet Atkins guitar version but your rendition is great!
Bravo well done i really enjoyed you playing is the greek bouzouki anything like playing the mandolin? I love the native greek music even though my ancestory is german. thanks again and bravo !! first time i heard a greek bouzouki now im hooked! cherrs and thanks again Mark
i was in Greece a few years ago and fell in love with this song :) Really awesome version and thanks for making my day! (but now i wanna go back to Greece though) ;)
i was wondering what the tuning on greek bouzouki was,the irish have adopted it but sometimes tune them G>D>A>E like a mandolin.i like your version its very upbeat like fairground music. great to see you playing with enthusiam too.
Don't get me wrong, I like her singing too, but "Ta Pedia tou Pireaus" (from the film: Never on Sunday) is original sung by my favourite megali Melina Mercouri!
thats OK please do, please listen to my other videos, i have about 350 uploaded, there are other nice tunes like this one, many instrumentals if that is what you like.
yes maybe, i might do another version and play it a bit differently as well and see how it goes. i won't delete this video though because it has gone well so far.
i have done a vocal version of this song and put it on youtube. the title is - Ta Pedia Tou Pirea Never on Sunday Τα παιδιά του Πειραιά Greek Music. If anyone wants to hear it but can't find it please message me. thanks Vick.
Oh Thank you Thank You so much! My mom used to play this on her mandolin! and I used to know the words in Greek. (yes, I'm half Greek) IF one can possibly be half Greek! lol This gives me bittersweet memories. Do you have this song in vocals with mandolin?
thanks for your comment, sorry i don't have a vocal version with mandolin, do a search on youtube, there would be plenty of vocal versions, i will do a vocal version also and upload in the next few days.
thanks, i haven't seen you play, maybe you are better, the harmonies in the chorus are the most difficult part, the rest is not that difficult - it is not a very fast song, like some Greek songs.
I really love listening again to this Greek instrument, the bouzouki. It brings back fond memories of my wonderful visit to Greece back in 2006. It would be nice actually listening again to a good bouzouki player playing any of Manos Hadjidakis' many wonderful tunes...over a bottle of ouzo and a plate of calamari! Greece, whew! what a beautiful country and what a wonderful people. I've been to several countries but Greece will always be my favorite. Thank you for the memories.
Kalispera! Hey, can you also play Manos' Athina' and 'The White Rose of Athens' on the bouzouki, parakalo? Efcharisto. Eerini. Regards from the Philippines, Fred
wow I love this, it's so beautiful,. what an amazing talent. you're fantastic. I wish you played to an audience in a venue, Id come and watch you. If only I could learn to play the bouzouki. and the balalaika. I wish!!
W O W Your in the wrong business Vick You need to share that GREAT talent of yours with the rest of the world With a GOD givin gift like that which so few have these days It's truely alot better then what the music industry is pushing on us now To not share that gift of yours with the rest of the world would truely be a sin !
thanks for believing in my ability but there are a lot of other good players out there. at least with youtube i'm sharing what I do with the rest of the world. i have done another version of this more recently where I am playing more in the higher notes. check it out if you want. thanks again.
Thanks. I must give credit to bouzoukiman Costa Vasili one of the best players and teachers in the world who showed me to play this song like this many years ago, when I was learning.
Thanks. On and off I have been playing for 24 years. It's just been a hobby because I work full time as a teacher of Graphic Arts and you can't rely on music for an income, not in Australia anyway.
thankyou that was brilliant you make it look so easy i would love to play never on a sunday for my farther who is from cyprus (paphitis) have you any tips on how to learn is it as easy as you make it look? i know bazouki is hard to play! thanks again keep up te gd work. dom
like everything dom it takes a lot of practice. I have been playing this song for many years.
