  • how to setup proxy settings on kindle

  • she sounds annoying and talks to fast

  • 3,500 books?! Damn!

  • If you get a kindle please do yourself a favor and get a cover or skin, they even have splash proof ones that prevent it from being damaged!!!

  • guys, can I put any pdf into this thing from my computer? some of my pdf's are very big, which are basically scan of books. and how can we transfer the pdf's from computer into kindle?

  • @aeros39 on amazong it says it can use PDF's, it must be as long as it doesn't extend over the memory

  • People who want to play AngryBirds get iPad - People who want to read get Kindle.

  • I bet reading on the ipad all day would knack your eyes in!

  • can i enter any adress in internet browser or it is only for amazon.com?

  • @hofas2007 any. the browser is still listed as experimental, and browsing is not very comfortable because of the low refresh rate (compared with lcd). get a kindle for reading, not browsing. the best use for the browser is wikipedia and maybe dictionaries.

  • Check out my kindle ebook review:

    squidoo.com/bestselling-kidle-ebooks

  • Amazon releases cheaper ad-supported Kindle. For details, go to Facebook and search "ereader" to access the ereader community page for the latest news and offers.

  • Someone doing reviews shouldn't say f'ing and of'er speak English

  • Hands up who laughed when she said "meaningful passage"

  • Hey people good collection of kindle books i found just visit :

    warezsokol ( dot )com /search / label / kindle

  • I'm addicted to the Kindle! I'm reading "Teenage Vigilante" right now!

  • Kindle provides a better reading experience than the laptop, iPad or phone. Reading on the iPad is like reading on the laptop. It has the same LCD display that blasts light into your retinas. The Kindle has an E-ink display that doesn't emit any light. Another point is that the laptop and iPad contains too many distractions. You'll soon find yourself doing everything except reading your book.

  • i want one sooooooooooooooooo bad!!!

  • @frozen9901 OMG!! You better get ONEEE!! I loveeee mine and I still haven't gotten it in the mail! lol

  • @odaruj159 lol did it come yet?

  • i want one.... but its too damn expensive for the technology that is behind it.

  • I bought the Kindle 3 and I am loving it, I am an avid reader and I can't believe there is no eye strain. Reading for hours on end is back to being enjoyable.

  • @tallblue1988 sounds fun ? :) :) :)

  • I got my Amazon Kindle Christmas 2010 & had not put it down since lol

  • I had a Kindle for Xmas ( love to bits). I downloaded loads of free books. I'm a bit of a Churchill nut and a mate of mine recommended a book called What Churchill Would Do, I have avoided buying books so far (no point with so much free stuff) but it was dirt cheap so I thought I would give it a go. It was a really great book, loads of war stuff and some interesting and different business advice. Not the usual drivel you get . Worth checking out when you get a chance.

  • Butt ugly

  • A kindle Let's you read books without eye strain this is a good thing but if you want to play games and read you get iPad the two are a little similar but also a little different not saying either of the two are bad but I prefer the kindle since I read more than play apps and listen to music I bought a iPod to play apps and listen to music I tried reading on my cousins iPad and found it hurt my eyes and gave me a headache but I enjoyed the experience of the cool apps and the loudness of my mus

  • how do you put music on it? it says copy to the music folder which i did but the device wont recognise it

  • I like the kindle, so I decided to see if I could earn for free. Result?, yes, you can earn one for free from Amazon.com by visiting this webpage. Coolest thing I have done on the net. Have a look.

  • fuck kindle i dont like reading.

  • @residentevil808 lol go watch Idiocracy, you'll be able to relate...

  • @nicsevern thats not what your mom said.

  • @residentevil808 if that made ANY sense.... it would still be shit but thanks for proving my point =)

  • @nicsevern huh what are u talking about.

  • @residentevil808 you lazy bastard

  • @alistairmichael fuck you bitch i dont need this ipad is way beter than your ass anyday.

  • Entertainment oriented people get iPad. Serious READERS got Kindle!

  • @dodo309 what do you mean?

  • @JongaLife if your consumption of music and movies is high, so iPad will be your friend. If you are some who is really love to read and your rate is something like finishing a book a week, so a dedicated device for reading like Kindle would be a perfect choice!

  • is kindle much different than reading paper? does it strain ur eyes even a little? becus ive tried readin ipad and screen is just too bright

  • @firax456 I would like the answer to this also, I've attempted to read books using my LCD computer screen for example, but for me there is just too much eye strain compared to reading ink on paper.

  • @firax456 In my opinion, reading Kindle even in a poor light is less eye straining than reading a LCD/LED screen.

It is like reading on paper.

  • I feel sorry for people who buy an iPad with the intention of using it as an eReader. iPad is an over-priced toy. Kindle is so much more suited as an eReader. I know because I have a Kindle3 and my friend has an iPad.

  • Nice informative info. If you're ready to buy, you can find an inexpensive Kindle DX Graphite Here:

    desertmerchant com / electronics/amazon-kindle-dx-graphite.html

  • the kindle is strictly for reading books... if you can't already tell from this video the screen and words are supposed to look very similar to an actual ink & paper book. Plus, this is Amazons way of keeping up with technology for those who don't want to carry a bulky paper back around.

  • My husband just bought me one of these for my birthday. (I kept hinting at it... telling him my favorite books.. dark tower/LOTR series... are just so heavy ti sit and read comfortably laying down. lol) I love the thing! I get headaches if I sit and read a computer screen for long periods of time. Reading the kindle doesn't hurt my eyes one bit. It's pretty remarkable how much like paper the screen looks.

  • @ScaperSteph I also like being able to listen to much while reading.

  • Kindle is for poor people, ipad for rich.

  • @butagaris Not really, you get the iPad if you want a toy, and the Kindle if you want a tool. Keep your ego in check, yeah?

  • @butagaris kindle is an e reader, ipad is a tablet.

  • @butagaris Kindle is for reading novels and peridocals...Ipad is for playing games and searching the internet. Night and day functions. And its why I have both ;).

  • SHOP GREAT DEALS ON GIFTS GIFTCARDS AND MORE

  • hey guys, is it possible to just place a pdf book in the kindle via usb? without having to buy and download it straight off the kindle ebook market shit?

  • little kids own this

rich big kids like me can afford a ipad

  • @sonicshortsextreme You mean your mommy can afford the Ipad, not you.

  • @LovesATB

    Well she can

but i have a job, and i can afford it

  • @sonicshortsextreme ive got a kindle. It was a toss up between the two. Your a knob jockey.

  • That accent is so crisp, clear, intelligent and authentic

Her sentence structure is impeccable and easy to decipher

    Kudos to the perfect lady

  • thats a piece of toys r us shit

  • kindle mint cake

  • why did i have to watch this video. i hatebritish accent. fuckin faggots

  • @nakanmbytbudallenjt we all think the same about you lot mate

  • @nakanmbytbudallenjt - That IS a woman you know doing the voice-over?

Probably hard for you to pick that up since the guys in your country have whiny high pitched voices as if their balls haven't even dropped.

The only males with any bass in their voice in the US are the African Americans.

The rest are whiny high pitched voices that would make anyones ears ake.

    Especially the woman.

There is a reason British anchors are used in International American news channels like CNN.

  • I don't think I want an Ereader that weighs 141 pounds.

  • This is the best device on the market for reading books. Your eyes will thank you!

  • eInk is the only way to read electronic documents almost as easily as a printed book. If you can stomach reading a whole novel on an iPad or other backlit display then great - I couldn't face it.

  • @JamesScilz Fail.

  • @JamesScilz FAIL!

  • I would use toyota's technology to ban ads from youtube... bastards

  • this thing is a thing of beauty haha

  • IPAD is a multimedia -internet tablet .

KINDLE : is a reading device design only for viewing text words ,ink like pics

people please dnt compare these devices together .

  • @MAGICKUWAIT i agree . It's true what you say they , they are complety different devices . Is it worth getting ? please reply

  • OMG awesome accent!!! I loved it!

  • @logarithm0

Her accent is medieval and feels like a Scottish castle

  • Good thing amazon released this, a $250 kindle wouldn't be able to compete with the iPad. This new version is much better.

  • @JerridPayne only on some. On amazon they can't give you discounts for ebooks cuz they can't but they can for books like hardback and paperback. HOWEVER SOME ebooks are about 50cents more expensive than paperbacks, but the cost of shiping the paperback will even out the prices. All out of copyright books are free thanks to project Gutenberg.

  • erm black and white and no colour... not for me

  • @HarvGod

Well it is designed for reading books. What would you possibly need colour for other than draining the battery?

  • Comment removed

  • Good information but the narrator was incorrect on one fact. The wifi model only comes only in the graphite color option. The 3G+wifi model has white and graphite options.

  • does anyone agree that this looks strikingly similar to the pad device in Star Trek?. This is abit spooky.

  • @cbarb14 You can load your own pdf's on it and the kindle store has access to project gutenberg, which has over 30000 free books.

  • Comment removed

  • @cbarb14 all the books cost money

  • Hey I was wondering do all of the books cost money to get or just some of them . Are most of them free ?

  • Can this lady talk any faster?

  • looks like paper

  • without the leather cover, the kindle can fit in my jean back pocket easily and not having to look weird or noticeable...

  • @AKim1217 no Bruce Springsteen, it can't

  • have both ipad and the new kindle DX. Love both, and never think they are the same devices, in any way.

  • how much is the case?

  • @entyceit The case is $59.99

  • Comment removed

  • =(

    i still like my white kindle 2. . . .

  • why should I pay 130 dollars to read a book

  • @VradisTheGreek couse you can download ebook for free (torrent). 10 normal book are kinda the same price of Kindle 3.

  • @SeitxiS you're right... but Kindle is for people who read books very often... for me is a completely waste of money... besides reading a normal book is more comfortable for my eyes

  • @VradisTheGreek

    Kindle vs. Real books:

    -Literally no shelf space

-No paper, better for the environment

    -Lighter and more compact

You're not paying 130 dollars to read a book, you're paying to read books an easier way.

  • Excuse me, iPad fanatics: Go away and read a month's worth of books on your iPad and come back with a verdict. That is assuming you haven't gone blind or broken your charger with overuse.

  • Wow, people get pretty worked up over e-book readers! LOL!

  • People, stop comparing iPad (talbet device) with Kindle, Nook, etc (eReader). This is two different categories of devices. eReader has longer battery life, they can be flexible, they can do video and colors (demoes was showed). Try reading on iPad or Computer for ~14 or just long hours non-stop and try doing the same with the book or eReader and let's check whose vision will go down first.

  • I want to get an eReader because I like to read. I'm considering the new cheapest Kindle because it's gotten to such a low price. A reason I like the idea of a dedicated eReader is because having all of those things (internet, games) might tend to distract me from sitting and actually reading. i.e. If I had an iPad, instead of reading, I'd just surf the net, get on youtube, play a game...

Question: what is the purpose of the 3G version? Is it worth it?

  • can you drag and drop downloaded ebooks onto this kindle? i mean a book not bought from the amazon account

  • I am torn in two about this: do I go for this or wait for the kindle dx?

  • @daro2096 I Have no idea, i have the same problem. Either Kindle3 or Kindle dx. I want the dx cuz it has a bigger screen and i think that's awesome. But this one is small and cute and it can go anywhere. And now it looks brighter. I'm Torn too.

  • What's that at 1:48, a bookmark? : D

  • got mine today, its amazing, i love it

  • Just ordered mine but it's sold out :(

Do you think I'll have my hands on one in September? (I live in Canada).

  • 149£?

    are they kidding?

  • I'm an avid reader and having physically used kindle and ipad for reading, only the kindle allows a longer, "anywhere" reading experience akin to a book. Prior to this I was dismissive of the kindle as the "betamax" of it's domain but having used it, this is the future of e-reading not the iPad, though I am sure Apple will get it right in versions to come...

  • iPad idiots are the most bitter ADHD rejects on the internet. It burns them up that another device (the Kindle) is so superior for actually reading books, something they themselves don't do, but feel inferior about.

  • @gawtmeelk ur kidding this thing is overpriced and clearly not as good as the ipad the ipad has games facebook u name it what does the kindle have oh u can read books in crappy quality

  • @theapplefan01 *rolls eyes* Oh here we go. The sheep who'll buy anything with an Apple logo attached to it are here

  • @Greensmurf haha ur funny well... tell me what kindle can do that the i pad cant

  • @theapplefan01 ...Seriously? I'm facepalming here

It's an eBook. It's all it's SUPPOSED to do. You aren't even supposed to compare to things that are totally different from each other. I could read a book on a laptop with the same effect. No one is going to spend a fortune on an overpriced iPad if they're just going to use the eBook feature.

Why did you post here? You on your crusade again? Every time a phone or something gets reviewed, Apple fans are whining again

  • @Greensmurf true...but actually the Kindle does a bit more than just that, in a way. You can also browse the web on it. Search...Google, Wikipedia, etc. And the social networking things. As well as receive emails (as long as they have documents attached.) So it's a web-browser, doc-transferer, as well as mainly an e-book reader. The iPad is too an e-reader but is also like a laptop computer, but without any actual physical keys. (And also, iPads are way more expensive than Kindles or Nooks.)

  • @theapplefan01 the kindle can show books and lets you read for hours without your eyes hurting from led lights.

  • @theapplefan01 This is a stupid and moot point. "Why buy a clock radio when you can purchase a $100 million Jumbo Jet that has one built in?" The Kindle was designed PURELY for reading books with an E-ink display developed from the ground up to mimic paper and remove the strain from reading from an LCD screen.

Though judging by your username, it's obvious you won't see reason unless it has Steve Jobs's faeces smeared on it first. I also question whether you read at all.

  • @theapplefan01 lets do a test... you read for 14 hours STRAIGHT no breaks except bathroom and read in the bathroom on your precious ipad (on brightest setting) and ill read for 14 hours on my kindle. Your eyes will be like hot coals in your head. The ipad is just an overpriced laptop thats flat. I can read kindle books on my laptob 2. No ipad needed. It hurts your eyes to read for a long time. Crappy quality? it looks exactly like a book.

  • @gawtmeelk lol it is not superior i have both

  • @gawtmeelk ipad idiots. heheheheheh

  • @gawtmeelk ipad idiots yeah right heheheheheh

  • the screen is just amazingly crisp, my god. e-ink rules!

  • Wow, the screen looks so much lighter in this version! Looks great :) I'm going to spend the extra $50 just to get it in white :)

  • @rowelle both the white and black kindles cost the same, you pay less without 3G though ("wifi only"). It's worth the extra $50 though, the webbrowser is webkit based (the same engine as used in safari/chrome) and 3G connection is supposedly free (read: no fees!) in 100 countries.

  • @danielsanii The wi-fi only comes in graphite only so if I wanted it in white, it would be $50 more for the wi-fi & 3g at $189. Can't wait to get mine :)

  • Why are people comparing this the ipad, its a TOTALLY different device

  • @callumgriffiths1 two words FAN BOYS

  • i want to ask 2 thinks. 1st: Is it greek or german language support, and 2nd: the screen is a touch screen?

    Thanks

  • @aMondia nope.

  • Doesn't it have a backlight? O.o

  • @CharmingLordSausage You clearly don't read enough, then. Anyone who reads enough to warrant buying one of these can attest to the fact that when you have thousands of paperback books, you are going to have a major issue with dust and silverfish.

  • Comment removed

  • @CharmingLordSausage ..."convinced that they need something that they don't."

    -

No shit, of course we don't "NEED" this item. We also don't need 5 star restaurants, touch-screen cellphones, plasma televisions, and extended vacations. It's a called a "LUXURY".

  • @CharmingLordSausage You remind me of the guys who clearly were unable to grasp forward thinking. Like IBM execs who couldn't understand why the average household would want a PC. Or the guy who told Henry Ford the automobile was a horrible idea and no one would buy one. The kindle, and devices like it, are forward thinking. Sip energy, reduce paper use, and promote reading. Anything that does that gets an A+ in my book.

  • oh wow and i thought you were supposed to read books not i pad wnna bes

  • Lol'd at the man hands holding the Kindle and the woman speaking.

  • I don't read very much. But that is still REALLY cool. I wish it had a touchscreen though.

  • The British accent just bugs my guts!

  • @SonOfCyrusTheGreat Grow up.

  • @SonOfCyrusTheGreat Whats a british accent?

  • @darksettler it's what u hear on this video... "Kindul"

  • Duh.... Some ppl just don't get it. The kindle is for serious bookworms who like to read...and read...and read. My iPad is for casual reading but mostly surfing and movie viewing. But some people just don't require that. So could all you apple fanboys stop saying it's rubbish. I have an iPad but I could still see myself using the kindle if I read a lot.

  • wow. now that's a e-reader. black, sleek, sexy. amazing!

  • wow the screen looks very nice =)

  • Books are shit enough said

  • ipad2425 has issues

  • Dick

  • what is kindle?

  • lol who would carry that huge phone around? XD

personally i hate this.. nokia is best ,cant proove wrong...

  • @TomaSzzz16 Uh, its an eReader...

  • Strange...Looks like theres a headset thing in the bottom, but isnt this only for books?

  • @myn4m31Schr1s um, it can read to you with text-to-speech...

  • What a waste of technology. U could watch films on that!

  • its ugly
