She can sing really well without the backing vocals, there are several youtube videos to confirm that. I think she used alot of backing vocals here because it was live and every family in america would watch, and you don't wanna mess up on a performance like that. And she dances alot on some performances, so she will move away from the microphone sometimes.

Robyn killed on SNL - I'm a new fan! Some of the comments here are so hateful it's shocking. I find her really refreshing. She isnt the standard, homogenized, Brittany Spears American pop artist. She is unique, original, unafraid to strike out on her own. When did we stop appreciating those qualities? We should all stop worrying about what others think - it's really unhealthy. She is lip syncing. In the studio they record a version of the song that's not quite as well-tuned and breathier and use that for some live performances like this. Thanks for your concern though.

Well it's official. This is the worst lip-synched mess of a musical performance in the long history of SNL. Hard to believe producer Lorne Michael's standards have sunk this low. If she can't sing live they should just play her music videos. This looks like the worst contestant in a middle school talent show.

Robyn killed on SNL - I'm a new fan! Some of the comments here are so hateful it's shocking. I find her really refreshing. She isnt the standard, homogenized, Brittany Spears American pop artist. She is unique, original, unafraid to strike out on her own. When did we stop appreciating those qualities? We should all stop worrying about what others think - it's really unhealthy. Dancing should be about feeling the music and gettting carried away by it. That is definitely how she dances. Love it.

Yeah, it's pretty clear that she's not 'syncing, just singing with a fairly loud back-track (it's pretty obvious she's the lower-pitched of the two). If she's really been around since I was 10, then I feel horrible for only just now learning of her and seeing her. I'm in LOVE <3

@Moonessence1 she's a brilliant artist, she's not lip syncing BUT a recording of her singing is running at the same time, so that it fills the parts when she can't be heard. Nothing wrong with that. I still loved the entire performance.

BTW, I typed my comment so you read it, not heard it. There are parts where she's moving and it's hard to hear her so the background singer's recording (you didn't see any background singers on stage did you?) fill in those parts. Read carefully before you take the time to post an angry response.

She is lip syncing. In the studio they record a version of the song that's not quite as well-tuned and breathier and use that for some live performances like this. Thanks for your concern though.

I'm a big (unbiased) Robyn fan, and I've seen hundreds of her televised performances in addition to seeing her live in concert, and I can assure you that she's singing here. I suppose when she backs away from the mic at 2:43 and yells "Hey", that was also part of the meticulously recorded and lip synched backing track, right? Give me a fucking break.

If you're still a doubter, listen to her many live performances on YouTube. She was picked as the best performer at Bonoroo 2011 this summer. You don't get that by lip syncing.

I really like how she isn't afraid to be crazy and weird. Kind of doing a weird jig, doing a backroll, running around in platforms - I really feel like she's going to finally start getting much bigger in the USA, because people are realizing her talents after that performance.

Well it's official. This is the worst lip-synched mess of a musical performance in the long history of SNL. Hard to believe producer Lorne Michael's standards have sunk this low. If she can't sing live they should just play her music videos. This looks like the worst contestant in a middle school talent show.

I've admired her music since her first American CD release in 1997! And over the years she has gotten to be a more mature and well rounded singer. Kudos to you, Robyn. You just rock! Keep continuing to make great dance tracks and heart breaking ballads.
