  • I have an Xbox 360 and an MacBook is there any way to watch movies on the xbox from the computer?

  • my bad , the menu looked like a different film ... good coice of film lol

  • No Mac support HD-DVD.

  • they new one does

  • What new one? No Macs support HD-DVD. Why would they now anyway?

  • The new unibody macbook pro. With 9600gt video card and shit. Like I can play hd dvd on my macbook pro.

  • and the regular unibody macbook. i watch HD movies on mine all the time

  • Would this work on a regular Macbook?

  • So this may be a dumb question, but please deal. How did you manage this? I have windows installed on my mac, and a 360, require anything else for HD playback?

  • I knew Bluray was going to win, I just hoped HD-DVD would have...

That would have meant Sony would go bankrupt, and I wouldn't have to support three gaming consoles.

Not that I wish ill to Sony, if Hd-Dvd was Microsoft's format, and MS would go bankrupt without it, I would have wished the same fate, and supported Bluray.

  • could of chosen a better movie

  • well in this case, not really. even if you dont think batman begins is a good movie it cannot be denied that it is one of, if not the best looking movie on hddvd.

  • just brought A HD DVD for the XBOX360 for $48.....

  • brought? wtf kind of english is that you retarded fucknut?

  • Giving out lessons? Not only can you not capitalize, you use vernacular of prepubescent lames.

  • 'prepubescent lames. '

    wtf is/are 'lames'?

Oh, and I have a degree in english literature from Cambridge you cuntflap.

  • If you get a degree in english literature for this kind of language then the hole educational system is messed up, i wouldn't give you a degree in moping floors.

  • hd dvd all the way

  • are you kidding? get up on the news! microsoft is callin quits on hd dvd since walmart exclusively chose bluray

  • pretty nice but HD dvd die, bluray rock

  • windows on an apple computer.....disgraceful....:)

  • What movie is that?

  • Batman Begins

  • LOL. It's funny that it's a warner disc.

  • sweet irony

  • does this show in 1280 by 800 resolution?

    what comppnent are you using?

  • AWESOME =D

  • Thanks for the reply.

  • So can I hook up my 360 to a Macbook Pro and not have to buy a new HDTV for high def gaming?

  • yeah all he did was buy the xbox hd dvd player it isn't an actual xbox.

  • cool

  • Just wanted to know if you had to do anything special to get this hd dvd player running in windows XP. Drivers, alternate modification Etc. Thanx.

    Gorunova

  • *Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista (any)

    * MS Net Framework 2.0 or above

    * Win DVD 8, Nero 8 with HD-DVD plugin (cost extra)

    * Direct X 9c or above

if you have all of that and an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive it will work flawlessly

install all critical updates if any are available and wah lah the HD-DVD experience is complete.

Mac users do all the above after you install windows xp in Bootcamp

  • (c'td...) however Cyberlink PowerDVD says my video drivers don't support HD-DVD playback. It's said I have WDDM 7.16 (or something like that) drivers... trouble is, ATI says they won't provide drivers for their mobile products! So it seems I cannot get the latest drivers for Vista at all since I have what I think are the latest Apple has provided. (I've even tried to install Catalyst 7.8 and beta 8, with no success) What is your video card driver version?

  • May I ask which version of bootcamp and which OS you are using here? I have Vista running on my MBP 15" with the ATI x1600 video card and I can get the HD-DVD drive to be recognized by windows,

  • 1080p ROX!!

  • using boot camp for windows on your mac with the hd dvd hack to use the hd dvd player on the computer.

  • The new sensation this summer! Hahahah!

  • I have a regular DVD Player with usb port, can anyone tell me if is posible to connect the USB 360 HD DVD ???

  • エックスボックス さんろくまる

  • I agree. I really do.

  • so hd-dvd is only $200 if you have xbox 360 like me

  • i want the hd dvd so bad!!!

  • Why? Blu-ray's price will go down a LOT soon- to $500, I have been told HD DVD is actually less resolution than B-R, and it has less contracts with media distributors. I'd go with Blu-Ray if I cared.

  • The video stream between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is 100% identical down to the bitrate, format, encryption, codec, and DRM.

  • Yeah but Blu ray has better sound, more storage and cheaper movies...so...yeah

  • Hardly the case. Refer to the Blu-Ray Disc entry on Wikipedia. Scroll down and you will find a comparison chart. Look at the audio section. Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus are mandatory on HD-DVD, wheras they are option with Blu-Ray.

So, the audio is the same then.

Don't worry, I have a PS3 and no HD-DVD player ... I am not some rabid HD-DVD fanboy. I just state the facts as they are.

  • Though it states same quality, look further in that fact sheet and you see more MB/sec dedicated to sound. That and professional viewers state that HD DVD has more content, but blu ray sounds better (for audiophiles like me this is a big point)

  • u mean more expensive movies

  • Actually Blu ray movies are cheaper

  • No, actually HD-DVD has better sound and cheaper videos.

  • Too bad it isn't TRUE 1080p cause MacBook Pros' screen resolution only goes up to 1680x1050; however, it does produce a REALLY nice picture. I give it a 5/5 for seeing the HD-DVD Xbox 360 attachment work with Windows (seriously, how'd you do it? lol).

  • 2nd guy below me... FYI: the macbook pro is HD! the screen resolution is HD! MORON!

  • but not 1080 jackass it only gets to 1440x900... now you are the moron aint it.

  • 1440 x 900 is HD.

  • Yah but not the full 1080p that HD DVDs can go to.

  • 1080p is 1080p, no such thing as "this 1080p is better than this 1080p" n00b, u must b a blu-ray whore tsk tsk ignorant fool

  • What are you even talking about? Yes 1440 x 900 is HD but its not 1080p, it can only display 720p and under. I was just referring to HD DVD as an example for 1080p. And what's with the bluray whore crap lol?

  • oh i see, i thought u were trying to say hd dvd can't display 1080p or that it wasnt the "best" 1080p, my apologies

  • Right, and all DVD players from the $20 one to the $2000 ones were the same

  • 1080p30 is different than 1080p24.

Movies are 24 bumped up to 30 to fit tv refresh rates, and games are natively 30.

    lol.

  • a 1920x1080 screen is an option for the 17" model.

  • hey guys tipps for a bloody amature plz when i try to connect the xbox 360 to the comp it says limited connectivity help

  • Why does microsoft always fuckin use big ass media readers for fucks sakes. omg.

we must get rid of the stupid coffee cup holders that slide out they are retarded. yes they are easier if u use the credit card cd's but its easy to make an alignment mechanism. fuck. i bought 360 i wanted to open the sliding cd door and fucking jump on it. argh

  • i keep hearing that OMG thing and i dont know that means plz tell me

  • omg stands for "oh my god" ;)

  • how did you get the xbox 360 hd dvd to work on the mbp

  • did you hook the xbox 360 hd dvd drive up via USB?

  • thanks man! This was a nice test! Does everything play fluently or you have microblocks?

  • Thats nice but is the video coming out of the macbook pro HD?

  • Ha, no. You're not getting HD out of a non-HD optical drive.

  • That's an XBOX 360 HD DVD Drive you total twat. And yeah, most post G5 Macs DO display HD up to 1080p.
