  • Yea ty

  • I cant see your throat

  • lol :31

  • Um...the vibrato doesn't have to disappear in the belt voice. Nor do you absolutely have to have a wide spread while singing in the belt voice. In fact, if you're jawing the sound or trying to force the sound from singing with a horizontally spread mouth, you're usually just compensating for something else.

  • Your Vibrato doesn't disappear in the belt voice, this video is crap and not a good way to learn how to sing, that is what voice teachers in real life are for.

  • that taught me nothing

  • Remember to breath or you will die!!

  • "Vibrato disappears in the belt voice" LMAO so wrong...

  • @pbaxmc2 Too true!! It doesn't disappear at all!! Hahaa! How funny is this woman!

  • My ears hurt now :(

  • Seriously! lol

  • this video is funny as hell, " notice how big my mouth looks..." lmao

  • 0:27 HAAAAAA! lol!

  • @TheSeanBleu lol

  • 0:28 ARE YOU MILEY CYRUS OR SOMETHING? - cause I swear, that sounded just like her haha

  • i came on here just to hear you do the high note, no affence but it sounded like you seen a spider and said AAAAHHHHHH

  • if you were to look in side my mouth right now....um no thanks

  • your mouth is too big!! can do many jobs ;)

  • This woman really has no clue at all what she's doing at all, or even what belt voice actually is, which she proves by "demonstrating" a "belt" that's the same volume as her speaking voice.

  • these videos are ridiculous

  • "and they cut off their voice: HAAAAAAAAAAAAA" ...that was awesome.

  • I'm confused I have always been told you need vibrato when you belt so it doesn't sound shouty.

  • wow, this helped alot !

  • to much thought process in this showing teeth back of the throat down, wide mouth upright posture, uh uhh, just do SLS Speech level singing seth riggs dont have to worry about the Bel canto style open mouth training

  • I have a really big tongue haha, what do you suggest?

  • i could sing higher than that before watching the video:L ... the expert village are no experts..

  • Yet another useless video from expert village!

  • What the hell is "legit" voice. Also, her belts were so powerless I can't even explain. And on top of that, her vibrato was clearly there, so no, it doesn't dissapear.

  • Your belt seems to be alittle too tight lady O.o

  • Who the fuck says, "Legit Voice!?"

  • this makes me feel stupid :(

  • @operasghostess i just think that she wouldnt say the opposite of what shes doing... and oyu want vibrato in belting, it helps prevent/distinguish yelling from belting

  • @k139x ... That made no sense. Just sayin'.

  • 1:05 ... "if you were to look inside my mouth right now, you'd see a pile of dried up cum. it's my regular day job; being a vocal coach, obviously, is not."

  • you don't want to have too much of "Singer Face" is that a real thing??

  • notice how almost no one on the expertvilliage account attempting to teach vocal techniques seems to have the slightest clue about what they're talking about at all.

  • wow you know when you look at cartoons and wonder what they would look like in real life? like, say, fairy godmother from shrek?

  • This IS NOT BELTING and advice to push a lot of air is WRONG WRONG WRONG

  • You are not belting and vibrato can be heard during belting. It does "disappear" as you say it does. I still have a lot of vibrato when I belt.

  • This is dangerous teaching, this woman wants you to strain your chords by pushing to the front... no no..back and up is the way

  • You obviously didn't go to a school that taught belting...forward all the way, in the mask nice and bright. "Back and up" and you'll sound like an opera singer trying to belt...aka an idiot. As for the woman in this video, she's MAYBE mixing a little but definitely not belting. And to the people who still say "use your diaphragm", the diaphragm is a passive muscle which is controlled by the actions of the abdominal and lower back muscles. "Sing with controlled air flow" is more accurate.

  • @jonnylowell You have your opinion and I have mine there we go, to say "like an opera singer trying to belt" is the most assanine thing I have heard in quite a long time and believe you me I have been around for a long time!! You are right , the diaphram is passive, it was a term used and still is in the best circles as a means of singing, including abdominal control , all you get if you push it to the "mask" all the time is a horrid, forced, brightness - and worse, strain on the larynx !!

  • A better way of getting high sounds is making police car sounds or like the sound a kid would make when they rid down a slide. WEEEEEE, you'd reach that high voice better and more natural

  • I always think of singing like this: if you can sing, you can sing. If you can't, you can't... no amount of exercises, practice or other things can improve your singing skills!

  • @SilverShadowMusic i can PROMISE you that is NOT true. i used to think like that too. and boy am i glad i proved myself wrong.

  • @SilverShadowMusic well sorry but i think ur really wrong there. practice makes perfect. and EVERYBODY can sing. just some better than others. and some enjoy it and some people don't.

Obvioulsy for serious singers "exercises and practice" will improve their singing!!???

  • @katesinger

Serious singers? Really. Look, if you sound like a dying horse, you can practice all you want, but you'll still sound like a dying horse... seriously! Some people can't sing and they need to forget about practice or being a superstar because they won't. Now, I've made my point and I don't give a shit about your unintellectual comments that make no sense. Please, take your ugly ass out of my face!

  • @SilverShadowMusic haha shit calm down you maniac! I never mentioned sounding like a 'dying horse' - dont think thats physically possible. dont have such a narrow view! and i didnt ask you to "GIVE A SHIT" - also the reason you are being so defensive clearly has to do with you inability to accept someone elses point of view. thereby insulting me makes you feel better? lol! my comment makes complete sense as do yours. you just have a very negative & cynical view on singing.

  • @katesinger

Yeah, while you're here attempting to "calm me down", why don't you fucking take a spelling lesson? You clearly need it! Fuck! And, yes, insulting you makes me feel better! HAHAHA! Just the way it goes, fucker! ;) And, no, I don't have a very negative and cynical view on singing... if you can actually sing! I mean, all of people watching this video actually think they can do this simple exercise (that my grandmother who's dead could do) and be an amazing singer. Yeah fucking right.

  • this isnt beting

  • this isn't belt voice

  • she's not belting.

She's singing "legit" with a bit more "carry" than usual. Belting is a very specific sound. To get it, raise the soft palate, let the larynx rise, pt a LOT more "carry" (or "ring") in so it's loud without sounding "nasal", and use very little breath so you don't kill your vocal cords. Using the major back muscles to hold the breath back (they're attached to the lungs) will do it.

I am a singing teacher, for over 20 years.

  • what is a belt voice

  • If i looked at the back of your throat i think i'd see you ubila

  • *ligit* haha

  • continuously press 5 lol :D

  • Wanna learn the real deal in belting high notes using chest voice and infusing vibrato at the same time? Search for Regine Velasquez! She's one of the best, if not the best belter there is!

  • 1:04 is funny hahahahha keep on replaying

  • @ijustwantotsingaek I did that! Yes it's funny lol :)

  • 0:29 HILAR and Cute lmao

  • lol at this.

  • legit voice?

    ...

  • wooooow!!! this is a weird expierence, you look like the more mature version of my girlfriend!I was shocked haha!

  • "SINGER FACE" LOL

  • 0:28 Lil John uses it and the eastside boys do too! GET LOW GET LOW GET LOW GET LOW!! TO THE WINDOOOWWWWWW TO THE WALL!! xD

  • sounds like bull

  • I know what you mean open the mouth little and open the back of the throat big but how to do it .... Can you plz tech me

  • Yeah I bet she can stuff a mean 1 down her throat the way she talkn how she stretches it..I make woman hit high notes in the bed.lol

  • ugly face

  • no volume no breath no diaphragm....dislike; this should be taught by Hugh Jackman!!!

  • i think this was very helpful!~

  • she sucks at singing, how can she teach?

  • wow

    that vibrato sounds very forced....

  • her notes rnt very high

i wanna sing like Hayley Williams >.<

  • 0:30 sounds like lois griffin ..

  • @brahms909 LOL, hilarious.

  • no one listens to this! start using CVT (complete vocals technique) This is not belting in anyway and it isn't even called belting it's called edging for getting the high notes. Please don't listen to her cause she is wrong!

  • @Rickardlindgrens Ah man, I've been trying to learn how to belt for ages and I just can't figure it out... I hear this woman does not use her belt, but is her information right? Do you have to put your sound in the front of your mouth? Because I always get the 'flat' closed- off tone she mentioned

  • i am trying to learn to belt now but this is a little confusing... when i try to belt i still have vibrato? please see my video and comment -

is this belting? is it good/bad?

  • @tillysuesings It doesn't "disappear" all the time. Everyone has a different voice

  • 0:25 I want to sing like that

  • Comment removed

  • Please change your profession. You can be a janitor, a dentist, a dancer, a pianist or whatever you want, but stop teaching crap to people. This is NOT belting. It's NOT.

  • her glasses don't fit and it bugs me. and her tone is waaay flat.

  • she is not belting at all, she's using her chest voice

  • hey, i can only go up F4 in full chest, and mix my way through G4, A4, B4 till C#5

my mixed voice sounds thin and isn't as powerful as my chest.

    any opinion?

  • i like a girl who can make her throat wide

  • belt voice is not compatible with head voice?

  • That's not belting.

  • @bellemayl2 nope and she sounds like she's reaching. it's not nice for your vocal chords and it isn't too pleasant to the ears either.

  • @bellemayl2 I would call it belt mix.

  • That's not belting.

  • Um that's not high belting.. And the vibrato wasn't gone... And no one knows anything about what they're talking about on expertvillage, especially about singing... grr

  • @cdarrsse the subtitle thingos said bravado not vibrato i thought she said that too and i dont know what bravado is but if she DID mean vibrato it wasnt gone lol

  • I'm getting more and more upset with Expert Village -.-

  • dont put the text on her mouth please, i wanna see her mouth

  • I feel like i'm shouting when doing this. i don't know if i just naturally have a loud voice or if i'm doing something wrong. my soft pallette is up, i'm using good support and air (i think).

  • @furbyloverduh she's not actually doing belt, she's using her head voice with twang :S

  • this actually helped!

    x

  • whats the belt voice and the legit voice? :S

  • but.. i can still hear the vibrato??

  • @IFUCKINLOVETEA bravado, not vibrato. if you turn on closed captioning it says bravado.

  • @k139x Closed captions aren't always right. It IS vibrato.

  • @IFUCKINLOVETEA

    that's what I'm sayin...

  • @IFUCKINLOVETEA Belting doesn't mean no vibrato.

  • @IFUCKINLOVETEA My teacher you can use vabrato in belt voice. In fact she had one director who liked it.

  • This doesn't actually sound like belting to me and despite her saying there should be no vibrato (not true anyway) her singing still contains it in her own voice.

  • I think she said vibrato but Youtube thought she said bravado.

  • Interesting. I think you meant Vibrato, not Bravado. And it doesn't have to disappear. As a matter of fact, the tell-tale musical theater held note starts straight-tone and then adds the vibrato at the end.

  • vibrato and tremolo are different things

  • 0:31 it'll sound forced (and incredibly annoying)

  • bravado, vibrato, potatoe, potato, let's call the whole thing off. Hack or not, she's charming in a Susan Boyle kind of way.

  • the vibrato shouldn't disappear when you belt!

  • I'm having issues, I still can't belt.

  • "bravado" is a showing of courage

'vibrato' is the natural vocal tremolo

Vibrato should be in the belted (or chest voice) if you are singing in a healthy manner.

  • stop talking! you do everything in life wrong! this video should be burned! burned i say!

  • @backpocketfoundation Harsh, aren't we?

  • @pricelessangie tens of thousands of people are taking singing advice from this untrained hack, damaging their voices. her voice sucks, this singing advice sucks, she's presenting myth as fact, and that really sucks.

  • she is not bad she just should control her vibrato

  • haha shes kind of really bad

  • lol they put bravado instead of vibrato. anyway this isn't a very helpful video for learning to belt.

  • I got bought a online singing guide and it improved my voice ALOT. it's only like 20 dollars and it reall works. send me a message if you want the link.

  • This lady isn't belting here - she's using twangy cry - it's quite strong but it's not belt. Belt requires, generally, high breathing (not low - you want to use very little breath flow for true belt), a higher larynx, maximum twang and body anchoring. Jo Estill was really the first person to scientifically research this. As a pro voice researcher myself, I'd just like to warn people against trying to push from the stomach when belting - it won't do you any favours !

  • @chanteurmoderne

    You are DANGEROUS.

    And wrong.

  • @promptersbox I'm sorry you think so. As a professional voice scientist and industry vocal coach, I can back up my position (see articles by Titze on the belt voice, Jo Estill's research into Belt voice and laryngeal position, Sadolin's work on vocal modes, ENT surgeon Tom Harris' work on the voice etc) - all of this public research supports my position. As you say I'm wrong (and so are all the references I gave you, by default) could you give me your references proving this please?

  • @chanteurmoderne Very Wrong Breathing from the diaphram is very important. But there is a limit to everything u do. When i belt i don't feel an pressure build up in my throat. It's supported by the diaphram and its actually very relaxed. And there is different ways to get Vibrato while belting. The woman doing it in the video has Vibrato on BOTH of her attempts. Its smooth but it's there.

  • You always need to breathe from the diaphragm, if you don't you can blow out your voice. I never had formal training with a one on one teacher, but a choir director in school taught us much, especially when we went to contests. I've maintained that and have developed my voice since. I'm continuing to work after 12 years of it. Believe it or not, karaoke singing was the best way I learned to sing and project without straining.

  • To those saying "don't sing from the throat" where on earth do you think sound is made? It all is made in the larynx! The terms 'chest' and 'head' etc refer to where the resonance is felt. And belt can and very much should contain vibrato. The teacher in this video has a lot of twang which is similar to belt but is not a desirable voice quality. Add a little twang to true belt for brightness but twang is not a substitute for belt.

  • The Bravado???

    Expert fail.

  • So sexy

  • would be nice if i could actually see you through all the words on the screen.

  • thanks for the tips! I'll definitely be using them

  • Oh god, I also forgot to breath... *dead*

  • wheres the best forum to talk about singing and getting help? ive already tried harmony central, no use

  • @kiiaz look for Brett Manning in youtube. I'm using his techniques right now, I've improved so much! But i don't know if his techniques will work for you, it surely worked for me.

  • she isnt belting o.o she is using a mixed voice. lol

  • The word "Belt" has nothing to do with singing. It has to do with holding up your trousers. I think the word you are looking for is "Bray."

  • you don't stretch the throat in any kind of singing. You ALWAYS keep the throat open and free. It helps with the air flow. You can't hit high notes in any style of singing without free air flow and air support. The sound is always forward when singing because that is how you keep the resonance...the word is VIBRATO...and when it is wider than your normal/classical vibrato, you are pushing and STRAINING your voice.

  • You do NOT sing from the back of the throat. Your support comes from the diaphragm. Oh, and use your diaphragm and get supported high notes with vibrato. It goes to straight tone when the connection isn't made with your diaphragm.

  • in all of these Video voice lessons about belting high notes,

NO ONE actually belts high notes.

She is singing in her comfortable range it seems.

Im sure all the info she is giving is correct, but she should show us how to do it and actually do it herself.

  • WOW. it said "bravato" in the captions and it's "vibrato"........

  • sei una deficente, sono tutti stupidaci, perche no imparanno bene la tecnica e dopo parlanno.Stronza!

  • OMG what´s the difference between legit and belt voice?, I´m a beginner learning english, so I don't understand...:S

  • English is my first language and I dnt know. Its probably something to do with singing :P

  • it doesn't have to be that detailed..

Just tell the person to sing the vowel "ah" in a more "wide" fashion..opposed to "ahw"...both superficially (the mouth and so forth), When it comes ot singing, you really have to focus on what is going on INSIDE the mouth and throat - tongue placement, your vocal cords and the soft palate...I cannot emphasis how much I believe singing is INTERNAL....just a tweak of the vowel placement can make the biggest difference when singing something.

  • jesus I forgot to breathe... *dead*.

  • Lol

  • @KaiChippi LOL!

  • exactly....thats why I look for singers with real SOUL to them....they dont have to be black, lol....but this is more like broadwayy

  • I'm a dude and I can sing way higher and lower than her...obvs to the latter..

  • 1 min clips, wonder why?!

this bitch is a moron obviously

  • When I took voice lessons I was taught that if I wanted to belt I should go from the diaphragm. If you try to sing to loud while using your throat you can stress your throat to much and it will found forced.

  • @lovelygurlification well she's not saying u should sing from thraot

  • @lovelygurlification she never said to sing FROM the throat, she said to keep your throat open so the sound can come out. but i agree that she should have mentioned diaphram breathing

  • @lovelygurlification hey can you explain to me HOW to sing from your diaphram? Everyone says that but I really don't understand it.

  • @lovelygurlification yea, the only thing you really use your diaphragm for is to control the amount of air that comes out, not the sound of your voice!

  • erm .... lol ....expert ? village

  • hmm..good tips but the singing..hmm..not a good example..just let it out!!!.

  • it's a shame that you guys call yourself EXPERTvillage...

if your vibrato disappears in your belting voice then you do exactly what you just tried to show with your funny voice... you're too tight in the throat.

  • sux, bs, don't listen to this idiot

  • she sings those notes in the wrong octave

    haha

  • Comment removed

  • She can't sing. Why did they have someone teach belt voice if they can't even hit the note.

  • Comment removed

  • Can't you hear your own vibrato??????

Also, in the correct production of true Belt singing - the larynx is HIGH not low...

  • she wasn't even using her belt voice. when you are belting you are singing high notes in chest voice which can be done safely using a twang voice technique. Twang is a technique a lot of country singers use

  • and musical theatre twang is commonly used, as thyroid tilt

  • 0:29 lmaoooooooooooooo

  • maybe she can sing but I dont like her voice hahahahaah awful

  • im bad at singing im trying to sing better
