Couldn't have said it better!! To all the elitists...I say "they mock what they don't understand." PSU is the only university to attend and going there was amazing experience that I am forever grateful to have had. When people don't get our enthusiasm and devotion I tell them "You go to Penn State for 4 years, but you are Penn Stater for a lifetime!" I was recently talking to a religious studies professor about the idea of worshiping Penn State as a false idol (see Christianity's 2nd Commandment). We praise the statue, display it's image and likeness everywhere. We feel oceanic feelings of oneness over a ritualistic gathering (football games, thon).

Wouldn't it be strange if Penn State WAS a religion?  How would we behave differently?

Nice post, Graham and all associated with it. We certainly are a diverse group and that's good. Christmas is still a major holiday, though, and it would be nice to acknowledge that. Instead of just the generic "Happy Holidays" how about "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays"? It acknowledges this important holiday and even if you don't celebrate it what's wrong with saying it for all those who do?

Add your own if you like: Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy Hanukha, whatever...
