I did all those steps ,tracking, solving, etc but,in the end syntheyes thinks that the floor that I filmed is a wall and that the camera is perpendicular to it(horizontal facing) but it actually is facing down,to the floor. That is a problem when I export the project to 3dsmax...
@teo5151 Sounds like a possible coordinate system issue. You need to tell Syntheyes where your floor plane is at by setting up the coordinate system. Russ has video tutorials on this on the Syntheyes website. ssontech DOT com FORWARDSLASH learning DOT htm
It's great to see a vid tutorial on Syntheyes...I've never found one bfore!
I guess the mill. dollar question for me would be: when are you making another tut intruducing camera AND object tracking? I'm working on one for my demo reel but I have questions on how to solve trackers, adjust camera and the 3d object, without screwing up the other one. Thanx
Well.....there are about 47 tutorials on the official Syntheyes website that deal with all aspects of the process including object tracking. :)
I am still planning on doing an updated tutorial for the 2008 version of Syntheyes, but I have been so busy I haven't had enough time to put it together. I'm spread a little thin right now.
cool! let us know when you have it ready...in the meantime I guess I'll check thouse tuts on the synth website. by the way, I checkd out your company website and you guys really work on every aspect of the vfx/motion graphcs production....will you b hiring new blood for 2009? LOL
Don't worry, I'll let everyone know when it's available. You can also keep an eye out for it on my blog "AEIOWEYOU". That's where I post all my new tutorials. As far as hiring, lol, unfortunately I'm not a huge company, or a small one for that matter. I'm merely one freelance artist. The website is just a home for my work. :) I appreciate the interest to work for me though. I am always networking and sharing artist info with my contacts, so feel free to send me a link to your work.
I didn't do anything with the clip used in this particular tutorial, it was just some footage I took on the Universal Studios backlot. I am planning to release an updated version of this tutorial using Syntheyes 2008. It'll show the import process into After Effects as well. It will be posted exclusively on ProVideo Coalition's website, so keep an eye out for that.
really well done. i have a few q's... if i import true 16:9 footage (not letterboxed, just 16:9) it comes up as 4:3 but squished in.. how do i stretch the sides out to make it 16:9??
Make sure that it really is 16:9 first, if so, then as explained in "Syntheyes101 part 1" you can change the PAR (pixel aspect ratio) to whatever it needs to be to stretch it back out. Usually it's a 1.33, but could be 1.55 or something else depending on your source format.
Excellent! Youtube at its best- Love how there were hardly any "Ums" and the voice flow was beautiful! Really informative also- I just sprung for Maya so Syntheyes is a must for matchmoving to the live plates. Thanks!
I would hardly say at it's best, but thanks for compliment. Congrats on the Maya purchase you'll have to show off some of your new creations when you get things running. Happy tracking.
