  • Shannon had some hot hits back in the 80's..Great looks tall and can sing..What happen to her?

  • GR8 MUSIC

  • THIS IS WHAT I CALLED REAL MUSIC. WE NEED TO BRING BACK THE 80S I MEAN I KNOW THEY GOT 80S CLOTHES OUT NOW BUT STILL AHHH MAN TAKES ME BACK!!!

  • Ah, the TR-808, I love thee

  • Love the song and love her but at the end when she chnages into the Patti Labelle reject outfit it's a riot.

  • 80s Music ,just the best of all times .

  • When I start listening to an 80's song on YouTube, I usually end up going an hour or so listening to nothing BUT 80's music. When I listen to one, I end up wanting to listen to more.

  • Love the 80's not like the BS out today. Wish we could go back .....

  • omgg this was my fave song in junior high I think it was. Good times because of the music.

  • Kim Franklin... Uniondale Long Island.. great memories..

  • That video looks like it cost $46 dollars to make. Still a great song. Brings back so many memories...

  • 11 OUT OF 10.

  • I had no idea this song was from the 80's. As much airplay as it got in the early 90's that's when I assumed it was from. I stand corrected.

  • shannon!!! your the bomb!!!

  • this song is the bomb, and I`v bin looking for this song fore quite a will and I`v found it, thanks to you tube, if thees young gyes get there hands on this music, they will see the kind of fun we had in the 80`s, I love this music._from reggie t&t.

  • @reggiestone100 This song is also available on the soundtrack CD to the film Party Monster.

  • now i know why i was born....

  • wow talk about going way back. i grew up in chicago wow alot of good times

  • wow my mom listened to this , got me into listening to it freestyle wont ever die as long as people still post great music like this

  • I adore this group... Shannon... Let the music play, do you wanna get away, my heart's divided, give me tonight, the best is yet to come, move mania, love goes all way.... you put the spark in my life......

  • When I hear this song, I was 17 or 18. I would cruise to her music. The Best Old School still around!!! Back then I would pop in my cassette, sometimes I would copy it like 3x's and then Let The Music Play 3x's and so on... There was no repeat button like CDs, IPods, etc... My kids grew up with my music. They thank me because, now when a New Version of it comes out, they know they copied the original... My kids friends, are jealous, because my kids know the lyrics lol! My kids love my music!!!

  • @CROWNOFTHORNS82 I NO THATS RIGHT! LoL

  • it was just somethin with a "sick" beat when it was new, but now, with more experience, I understand the meaning of the song. I have said the riff, "Give me tonight. If after this you don't wanna stay, then step out" a decade & a half later.

  • absolute bliss to my ears ,will never tire of her 80"s dance tracks ,would put to shame some of the garbage out now!

  • Shannon rocks!

  • Cazwell did amazing version of this song.

  • nothing but the best came from this era house, freestyle and club, i was born in 63 and grew up with this music on sikles st in the big apple aldo marin from music house on dyckman st used to mix my tapes in those days. Boy times have passed by

  • i remember walkin' in dark in the park gettin' my hard stiff cock suck

  • @eugvh18 nice :-)

  • SO KOOL A GREAT ERA FOR ELECTRO DANCE LOVED IT WAS AT MY PLAYA BEST BACK THEN

  • Missing my rollerskates right about now

  • Got your fly threads on, get to the club at midnight, step into the place, place is bumping, DJ throws this on and ooooohhhhhh shit its ooooon!!

  • love how the 80s songs makes me abuse the reply button

  • @11ninoos Yes. This is truly legend...'classic' is a better word for it I believe. I read someone stating that they still cover all the stuff made in the 60's, 70's and 80's...and he was right. Even house was invented in the 80's. After that I'll give the 90's some credit for really taking electronic dancemusic to another level..but after that nothing is really new is happening anymore.

I'm afraid everything musically has allready been done.

  • It makes me remember my school days. Great song and great singer. Sounded great at the disco.UUhh!

  • LOVEEEEEEEEEE IT so glad i got to dance to this.

  • the only jam at the tunnel.....

  • Fucking Awesome!! x

  • OMG!!! MISSING MY YOUTH BIG TIME!! EVERY CLUB ON SOUTH STREET ROCKED THIS SONG. AWESOME SUMMER JAM!!

  • I remember around 1985 Seeing her in Club 1235 in South Beach She really brought the house down with this song. Great Times......... THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.......

  • I'm glad my mom listens to 80s music cause i'd be missing out on so much!

  • @Sebizzar Same here. There was so much good music back then, & I know about it all cause ever since I was little all my mom listens to is 80's music.

  • give me tonight! baby you dont wanna stay girl ill just forget you....

  • Shannon had this really cool dark vibe to many of her vocals, here is probably the best example of this style.

    Love this.

  • TOP! wir waren die baseball furies (ROTJACKEN)

  • god damn.... these actors have no emotion... like they got a stick up their ass or something

that is a fantastic song, it's absolutely powerful, and compared to nowadays popmusic, it's an awesome masterpiece!

  • Hahaha gosh I remember break dancing and pop locking to this song. This song was rocking the airwaves back then. Really bring back memories. Its amazing how sweet it still sound when compared to some of the shit music being recorded these days

  • @jukecheck SO TRUE

  • This is my favorite best song of the eighties ! my # 1 ,i love it !!!!

  • AWE SHIT!!!! The dance floor was tore up with this jam. I remember I used to roller skate to this jam. Hell yeah man Im so bummed out times have changed :(

  • One of my favorite songs that back in the day had all the dance floors crowded at all times. Boy I wish I could go back to those times just one more time in life. How I loved it all. Thank God for memories, you can't take them away. irvinbean123

  • sweet a** song cheezy video...

  • most of her videos were like that,i wonder who the directors were, especially let the music play,i wanna smack that director,if i was a singer,i'll make my demands, cuz i dont want a wack ass video, she needed somebody like brett ratner, hype williams, frances lawrence, lionel c. matin, dave mayers, lil x,billie woodruff, etc. i do luv this song and the way the man is dancing,he got skills, especially when he does the snake, and swing it back around, that's the ish right there,i use to do the prepp to dis.

  • One of the greatest freestyle songs ever. classic and still great.

  • Girlfriends and tears ... ahhhhhh the memories

  • to see those Patrick Swayze like dance moves makes my penis soft... otherwise i love it!!

  • Westbam "Beat Box Rocker" and Music Instrucktor with Flying Steps "Supersonic" stole the Tones and Beats from this Song

  • I love this song but the video wasw plain horrible and very laughable.

  • The Queen of freestyle: Shannon!

  • whoever came up with the idea for this video should be put to sleep

  • It is trash, but you gotta cut it some slack. This was 84' bro and I saw a lot worse as a shorty watching "Hot Tracks" and "Video Music Box". This video was made at the advent of the music video age, when MTV just started. Back then the videos had low budgets and amateur directors, until Michael Jackson came along with Thriller and changed the game.

  • Thriller came out in 1983.

  • This song is proof that Latin Freestyle and Old School HipHop were connected in the early 80s. This music is for breakin, animation, poppin/electro boogie down streetdances. Hey You know Rock Steady Crew? LOL. Instead of just rapping, the Latino element put in singing. But this is the original HIP HOP of New York. Blacks and Latinos making electronic dance music together in the past. To bad things got separated after the 80s and hip hop got too commercialized and stereotyped in the 90s.

  • masterpiece

  • loooooveeeeee ittttttt!!! :D

  • 80s dance music forever!

  • This is something I would tell a girl back in the dayz...give me tonight.

  • Shannon revitalised disco after a few years period where disco (dance) music was banned everywhere. Soon after this Madonna made her first hits with Starlight and Holiday. This was called Electro and soon after this followed by Acid and later Club House music. We owe a lot to Shannon.

  • madonnas 1st hit was Everybody.

  • they use to remix the hell out this song and it would go on for like 20 minutes. lolol

  • sooooo ein mega geiles lied....auch über 20 jahre später noch ;)...

  • This song was the Miami Vice television series soundtrack. Nice song!

  • Actually tha first version of this song I heard was the Offer Nissim remix, I didn't it was hers.

  • This is one bad ass song. I might have been a little babe when this came out, but I remember the 80s era with nothing but love for it and its music.

  • YO - STRAIGHT UP LATIN-FREE-STYLE, YALL - WORD TO YUH MUTHA'S WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC! This is up there with Led Zeppelin, yo - LETS KICK IT

  • This was the very beginning of Latin Freestyle. Every thing after this stems here your Stevies, coro, noel'safire, judy. you name it..

  • cheko prod...respect

  • it has that latin freestyle feel to it, btw she performed this at the latin freestyle explosion in 2005 at anaheim pond, great concert

  • forgot about the video...luuv itt..so suspensful and soo 80's.. your in heaven w/ the class of '87!

  • this brings back memories... i love this song

  • why does this keep gettin' removed?

  • I missed all those old times when i was just only 17 years old now im 37 when I had a fake Id just to get into the clubs down in tijuana revolution ave, just across from the usa border, they played thist song every club i went so loud it was like a ritual for the clubs to play this song also you turned wild dancing so sexy in the middle of the dance floor flirting with the one you like in the club until this day their are some radio station are playing this song find revolution ave or tijuana

  • theee best years..80" and the 90"!!

  • This song meant so much to me in the 80's, brings back so many memories.

  • I like how she turns into like a Power Ranger Queen type deal at the end.

  • I grew up listening to Freestyle starting in 1981. In the early days the name freestyle was non-existing. I used to collect the records, it was just called Dance Music. The 80's was a great era, whatever you called this genre of music it morphed unto other forms or genre of music. Today's techno is somewhat reminiscent of this vibe.

  • FREESTYLE / ELECTRO ROCKS!! 80's Baby!!

  • Super coool esta cancion i love!!!

  • Shannon was known for the nice song with a banging beat.

  • hey you can dance breakin' and poppin' to this song! cool hey! ;)

  • One of the best 80s songs. Is she saying "you'll see i'm right" or "you'll see a light", i can never figure it out, but i like the song a lot.

  • 102.7 WBMX in Chicago, parachute pants, shaved sides and big curls in front, ruffles, sequins and lace on the ladies, and freestyle. Life was good and she helped start it all. What a sound!

  • such an awesome song

  • me encanta .. buenisima

  • this song rocks much harder than let the music play, and is a lead up to do you wanna get away... i wish she had a longer career, she put freestyle on the map !!!

  • Muito bom o som da Shannon

  • pure freestyle,i still love it!

  • esta cancion fue y es mi favorita de los 80's, que tiempos aquellos del studio 54

  • es lo mejor de 80

  • I think this music was the greatest. They just don't have music like this anymore. I can clearly remember listening to this music at my teenage bonfire parties. Awesome to hear it again.

  • M e encanta esta cancion ...que recuerdos!!!

  • I love this song. I can remember breakdancing with my boombox on the corner and that's on the real.

  • i love shannon...freestyle rocks!

  • Awesome! Shannon was the first concert I've ever been to back in 1984. This was my jam when I was 14, and still is. To me, she kinda looks like she could be Brandy's older sister. Anyway, thanks for this jam! It took me back!

  • This is an unforgettable dance classic...thanks for posting

  • Forgot to mention John Robie had a lot to do with some of the mix edits at that time period, which was a foundation for 'NYC freestyle'.

  • Born Shannon Brenda Greene on May 2, 1958 in Washington, D.C. She is best known for her 1983 dance/freestyle record, "Let the Music Play", and "Give me tonight" which was the follow up single. The record redefined the electro funk sound(telefunken) that Arthur Baker and John Rocca (who produced "I.O.U" by Freeez and "One More Shot/Get Wet" by C-Bank) developed in 1982.

  • hey this video are in the 1984 video hits in laserdisc format..
