I love Shannon I find her music, style, and singing very addictive and and highly enjoyable. This is a joyous trip back in time, and is the most beautiful video. I had the tape to this when it first came out of course I wore the poor thin out, thanks this made my whole year
When I start listening to an 80's song on YouTube, I usually end up going an hour or so listening to nothing BUT 80's music. When I listen to one, I end up wanting to listen to more.
this song is the bomb, and I`v bin looking for this song fore quite a will and I`v found it, thanks to you tube, if thees young gyes get there hands on this music, they will see the kind of fun we had in the 80`s, I love this music._from reggie t&t.
I adore this group... Shannon... Let the music play, do you wanna get away, my heart's divided, give me tonight, the best is yet to come, move mania, love goes all way.... you put the spark in my life......
When I hear this song, I was 17 or 18. I would cruise to her music. The Best Old School still around!!! Back then I would pop in my cassette, sometimes I would copy it like 3x's and then Let The Music Play 3x's and so on... There was no repeat button like CDs, IPods, etc... My kids grew up with my music. They thank me because, now when a New Version of it comes out, they know they copied the original... My kids friends, are jealous, because my kids know the lyrics lol! My kids love my music!!!
it was just somethin with a "sick" beat when it was new, but now, with more experience, I understand the meaning of the song. I have said the riff, "Give me tonight. If after this you don't wanna stay, then step out" a decade & a half later.
nothing but the best came from this era house, freestyle and club, i was born in 63 and grew up with this music on sikles st in the big apple aldo marin from music house on dyckman st used to mix my tapes in those days. Boy times have passed by
@11ninoos Yes. This is truly legend...'classic' is a better word for it I believe. I read someone stating that they still cover all the stuff made in the 60's, 70's and 80's...and he was right. Even house was invented in the 80's. After that I'll give the 90's some credit for really taking electronic dancemusic to another level..but after that nothing is really new is happening anymore.
I'm afraid everything musically has allready been done.
I remember around 1985 Seeing her in Club 1235 in South Beach She really brought the house down with this song. Great Times......... THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.......
Hahaha gosh I remember break dancing and pop locking to this song. This song was rocking the airwaves back then. Really bring back memories. Its amazing how sweet it still sound when compared to some of the shit music being recorded these days
AWE SHIT!!!! The dance floor was tore up with this jam. I remember I used to roller skate to this jam. Hell yeah man Im so bummed out times have changed :(
One of my favorite songs that back in the day had all the dance floors crowded at all times. Boy I wish I could go back to those times just one more time in life. How I loved it all. Thank God for memories, you can't take them away. irvinbean123
most of her videos were like that,i wonder who the directors were, especially let the music play,i wanna smack that director,if i was a singer,i'll make my demands, cuz i dont want a wack ass video, she needed somebody like brett ratner, hype williams, frances lawrence, lionel c. matin, dave mayers, lil x,billie woodruff, etc. i do luv this song and the way the man is dancing,he got skills, especially when he does the snake, and swing it back around, that's the ish right there,i use to do the prepp to dis.
It is trash, but you gotta cut it some slack. This was 84' bro and I saw a lot worse as a shorty watching "Hot Tracks" and "Video Music Box". This video was made at the advent of the music video age, when MTV just started. Back then the videos had low budgets and amateur directors, until Michael Jackson came along with Thriller and changed the game.
This song is proof that Latin Freestyle and Old School HipHop were connected in the early 80s. This music is for breakin, animation, poppin/electro boogie down streetdances. Hey You know Rock Steady Crew? LOL. Instead of just rapping, the Latino element put in singing. But this is the original HIP HOP of New York. Blacks and Latinos making electronic dance music together in the past. To bad things got separated after the 80s and hip hop got too commercialized and stereotyped in the 90s.
Shannon revitalised disco after a few years period where disco (dance) music was banned everywhere. Soon after this Madonna made her first hits with Starlight and Holiday. This was called Electro and soon after this followed by Acid and later Club House music. We owe a lot to Shannon.
towards the end you see that the dude in the video has a Schizophrenic delusion! He hallucinates his own head floating above him while hes laying on the street! I think he forgot his medication that day! LOL

I grew up listening to Freestyle starting in 1981. In the early days the name freestyle was non-existing. I used to collect the records, it was just called Dance Music.
