@dlc85007 anderson silva lands over 80 percent of his punches. boxing has way more non-fit guys but they are all obviously athletes in both sports. mma uses 3 ounce gloves.. 36 mins would be brain trauma (one of the reasons y its proven safer than boxing). jsp isnt slow. slower than boxers with a punch maybe but thats all boxers train for. and once again 3 ounce glove.. which means a heavier blow. or kicks. or knees. and no mma fighter has parkinsons disease walking around nodding to everything

It actually started as an open martial arts contest that invited any style to participate and believe it or not quiet a few boxers did including a couple big time ones like Art Jimmerson. He lost the first round to Gracie though. I don't know where you're getting the boxing rejects from though... The majority of early MMA fighters came from kickboxing backgrounds. That said I'm a big fan of both sports and I don't get the rivalry.
