I don't know why it was there but where it was was much better then in a tank for study where it died. Heck, that was probably their plan. The reason this animal was at the surface was that it was already dying. A healthy frill shark would stay very deep below the surface. I agree they should have left it alone to die in peace, but it wasn't going to survive whatever happened.

It couldn't of been just because they moved her since she is a DEEP SEA frilled shark she probably went out of the area she is usually in (deep waters) and just kept swimming till she came close to the surface of the water. And she probably couldn't adapt to shallower waters.

@LinSauschuck11 Actually it was already dieing. They never come that close to the surface unless they are already dieing. Very few of these have been spotted alive simply because they live in very deep waters, and their eggs can take up to 3 and a half years to hatch.
Sharks are amazing prehistoric creatures. They started with megaladons and ended up with frill sharks, tiger sharks, ect. They are fascinating creatures that should be both feared but yet respected.

Oh my god! They tried to study it in a tank to study it and reasearch it and it died because they took it out of tits habitat and because so little is known the tank setting probally werent right! WTF JAPAN!!! Trying to make rare animals go extinct or any species to go extinct for that matter. Everyone counts leave it in the fucking wild and study it there! its common sense to leave it in its natural habitat where it will act normal instead if putting it in a tank where it wont act normal! WTF!!

it is said that bottom dwellers (creatures that lived at the depths of the ocean) resurfaces only on there last days so this frilled shark really only had a few moments to spend, at least she spends it with us

@LinSauschuck11 Actually it was already dieing. They never come that close to the surface unless they are already dieing. Very few of these have been spotted alive simply because they live in very deep waters, and their eggs can take up to 3 and a half years to hatch.

Sharks are amazing prehistoric creatures. They started with megaladons and ended up with frill sharks, tiger sharks, ect. They are fascinating creatures that should be both feared but yet respected.

@KYGIRLS3 oh my goodness..calm down, you don't even know the whole situation...just chill... I'm pretty sure it wasn't in its normal habitat, since it lives deep under the ocean, it isn't used to such light pressure. They did say when they found it, it was in critical condition.

@KYGIRLS3 If you had payed attention, you would've heard that they are supposed to be at around 600m depth in the ocean. It probably would've died at where it was and it's remains would've been lost. Same thing goes to MrThongbong. Fish that live deep underwater come up to the surface when near death, take the oarfish as an example.
