im sorry to let you know, but most of you are only moms, they are nurses or doctors..and if they are doing that to a newborn is because they can do it and it wont be bad for the baby!! As a mom you know a lot of things, but not as much as nurses or doctors!
What I wring with the fucking nurses at this hospital. You are not supposed to bathe a baby until it is at least 1 week old because the skin is easily damaged. I know this for a fact because I am a mother of 2 and my first child had some of his skin peeled nd he had his first proper bath at 1 week and 5 days!!!
@ajitn001 Incorrect. Do a google search or check out some more videos. Babies get cleaned up after birth. Yes when they leave the hospital you don't bathe them for atleast a week, but not right after birth. How else do you think you get all the gooey stuff off the newly born baby.,?
So cute! My 3 girls got the same bath done at the hospital! Je sais pas si au Québec on est les seul à le faire, mais dans les nouveaux livre de bébé c'est écrit que c'est la nouvelle procédure! :-)
@Beautiliciousbaby77 - I have always been told the same thing about the belly button. Matter of fact, I was told not to even bathe my son until the cord fell completely off. He was to have a sponge bath only. Times have changed I guess.. LOL
Poor baby. If it's still in the hospital, it definately doesn't need a bath yet.. A wipe down, sure.. But they have no need for one and why put them through that so soon. Sure they enjoy it when they get fully submerged, but that can wait till baby gets home.
@yugimtl Yes....North America, but NOT America....It just seems like they are a little rough with them....When I had my daughter, they were very gentle. BUT....I guess I'm a sucker when it comes to babies!
@cearle28 And so do you have a special shelf for your daughter that you place her on so she doesn't break into a million pieces? Baby are squeezed through a tight birth canal that is by no means gentle, heck it even contorts the shape of their head yet miraculously they survive! Everything is just better in America isn't that right? Starting with the childhood obesity epidemic to your inferior public health care to your nationwide debt crisis.
@mshappyclam Of course you take cearle28's comment up the ass. Cause you kno American is better LMAO. I knew it. As soon as i read her comment, which wasen't even bad by the way. I said there will be haters just because it's American and not Japan or something .. Get off our dicks, We already know we are better then you. Oh and your country has a obesity issue you should deal with yourself as well. Along with UK, England, etc. So again hop off OUR dicks. K thanxbye
@cearle28 Cearle28 you shouldn't of said your comment. I kno it wasen't bad and i kno you meant no harm but people have a jealousy issue with US, they wont admit it though. So they took your comment to heart. If you were talking about some random country noone would of even responded but you were talking about the one country people love to hate on, and they can keep hatin, I personally love it.
FOR ALL NEW PARENTS, comes a sweet little book you will love: I’LL FOLLOW THE MOON. Baby green sea turtle is asleep in his nest way below the beach’s surface. Suddenly he opens one eye – and starts to stretch…crack, crack goes his egg and soon he’s free. Up he digs, then across he crawls, finding the sea by the flickery moonlight on the waves. Mama is waiting in the deep! Can he find her? Read and see!

are you stupid?!?!?!?! you gonna give that baby an infection you sponge bath them until corn falls of and you clean around the cord stump with alcohol pads! omfg! use your heads people!
Because being born is a traumatic experience. Babies are going from an extremely safe place from where they were never hungry- they had an umbilical cord and they did not need to do anything by themselves. Then all of a sudden they see bright lights (with maybe blurred vision) and it scares them. They use to be in a very tight place and all of a sudden they have tons of room.
@CarlaRockz1 Babies cry because when they first come out and inhale their first breath of air, their lungs, which have been flat and unused in the womb, sort of pop open.. And that hurts i bet :)
Actually, neonates do use their lungs in vitro. They inhale and exhale amniotic fluid, most of this is pressed out during delivery. They cry because of a natural reflex triggered by exposure to air (which causes hormornal changes preping for breathing yahda yahda...)
I love the baby crries and cries then you put him back in a womb like scenerio and it goes all quiet. So sweet. But I really didn't think you were suppose to put them in water. This is really not good advice.
@mizztrina2294 You should ask a doctor about it, not get advice from youtube. It likely depends on the way the cord is cut/clamped and many more factors.
your supposed to sponge bath the baby until the piece of the chord that is left there falls off, that is how all hospitals will tell you to wash your newborn baby.
Whether it's right or wrong or whatever, this lil one is at ease in the water. My first was not so lucky. I was ignorant and 17, when the ass of a doctor Pulled her out of me, gave her to my husband, then the nurses, then my mother...Even tho crying and fully awake, i was the last out of 15 people to hold my first child. The Dr said i was hysterical...but I have 3 nurses statements i was tired from labor and crying to put my baby to my breast ,Alexie has never bonded with me, she is 10 now
@SovereignOfSpice Please have you ever had a kid or researched it before? It mimics the conditions in the womb and therefore that is why the baby stops crying because it feels "At home". and as long as it is above water I see no problem with submersion.
@NaturalGroundation Please, I have researched this information, as a matter of fact I'm a RN. Newborns (as is the baby in this video) can have a sponge bath (under the radiant warmer to maintain a neutral thermal environment).
Furthermore, sponge baths are advised for the first 2 weeks after birth or until the cord falls completely off & the umbilicus is healed.
So basically I generally have no problem with a tub bath but in accordance to the above information, safety first, prevent infection.
@SovereignOfSpice Are you american? I'm a midwife in Australia, so long as the cord is clamped and dry (>24 hours post delivery) no dramas, bath all the way! If the clamp is insitu there's no greater risk of infection than that of a sponge bath - and the child is less likely to become hypothermic
@cici2963 they say bathing is comforting to newborns because it is familiar- as in the womb they are in a fluid environment. so it makes them feel safe and comforted.
Babies are not encouraged to "breast crawl" here, either. (USA) Right after birth, the baby should be placed on the chest of the mother. Do not wash the vernix off yet. The baby will use his/her feet to push to the nipples of the mother.
I encourage moms to be to look in to allowing their newborns to crawl to the nipple but I know that in US hospitals, they want to rush the baby off right away to measure and such.
In Brazil (where I came from) we bath the babies everyday since they are born. I never heard anything bad about it. They are clean and smell so good, even we put a baby cologne after!!!
So I think in other countries can be different. Sorry, but I gonna bath my baby everyday ( I am 14 weeks pregnant and I live in USA).
@minkisbaby dude that baby was just born! Of course they're getting all thr blood and nasty stuff off of him! Lol ewe! They say to spongebathe after the chord has come off but as of now they are in the hospital and those RNs know much more then any of us do!
@yugimtl your actually suppose to give a baby a sponge bath till the stump falls off. if u keep the stump wet how do u expect it to dry up and fall off? ur logic makes no sense. n im glad i wasnt born in this hospital.
@shoujoluvr707 a baby shouldn't be washed straight away as it rinses off all the vernix that smells like the mother. Removing it is detrimental to bonding and breastfeeding, and makes babies more unsettled. Unfortunately it's a common practice around most modern hospitals :(
@shoujoluvr707 a baby shouldn't be washed straight after its birth as that rinses off all the vernix that smells like the mother. Removing it is detrimental to bonding and breastfeeding, and makes babies more unsettled. Unfortunately it's a common practice around most modern hospitals :(
@shoujoluvr707 You're right. these people aren't speaking english...most likely they're not in America. I would be shocked to see an American hospital give a newborn a bath...
@MinkisBaby They're probably cleaning him off after he came out. Sponge baths are a little insufficient for that. It's okay while the cord is still wet anyhow.
You shouldn't be giving a new born a bath (in water) until its cord is dyed up and has fallen off.... Just a little FYI to the soon to be moms who has commented before me.
@TheGohausmachine keep in mind that the baby was just born and the cord hasn't even started to dry yet, so in this case it's ok. But what you said is true once you take your baby home. Only sponge baths until the cord falls out.
she could of gave the baby alittle sponge bath gosh i got scared

is this how they clean the newborn? I was taught that a infant shouldn't be submersed in a tub full of water until after the cord falls off!
shoujoluvr707 8 months ago 25
@shoujoluvr707 yes this is the way, no trouble in submerging them in water, it actually helps the cord dry out.

@yugimtl your actually suppose to give a baby a sponge bath till the stump falls off. if u keep the stump wet how do u expect it to dry up and fall off? ur logic makes no sense. n im glad i wasnt born in this hospital.

@yugimtl Nope, you are wrong. It is best to keep it dry to prevent infection. Clean around the belly button with a q-tip. And dry with a q-tip.

@shoujoluvr707 a baby shouldn't be washed straight away as it rinses off all the vernix that smells like the mother. Removing it is detrimental to bonding and breastfeeding, and makes babies more unsettled. Unfortunately it's a common practice around most modern hospitals :(

Respond to this video... it's so cute how the baby just kinda doesn't like it at first and then gets quiet because it feels good :) so adorable.

@shoujoluvr707 You're right. these people aren't speaking english...most likely they're not in America. I would be shocked to see an American hospital give a newborn a bath...

I'd be happier in the water too! It probably feels like the warm comfy place he just came out of. XD

Isn't he a little too young to be having baths.... I thought you don't bathe your newborn until they are a week old
MinkisBaby 8 months ago
@MinkisBaby They're probably cleaning him off after he came out. Sponge baths are a little insufficient for that. It's okay while the cord is still wet anyhow.

You shouldn't be giving a new born a bath (in water) until its cord is dyed up and has fallen off.... Just a little FYI to the soon to be moms who has commented before me.
TheGohausmachine 10 months ago
@TheGohausmachine keep in mind that the baby was just born and the cord hasn't even started to dry yet, so in this case it's ok. But what you said is true once you take your baby home. Only sponge baths until the cord falls out.
obelisk40 9 months ago
@TheGohausmachine i was thinking the same thing. i thought sponge baths for the first few weeks.
