@TheStyx44 We show respect for God! This is the faith handed down directly from the 12 Apostles, literally. This is the true faith, the true Christian church-the correct way it should be done. Slava Bogu!!!
@TheStyx44 Spare us of your protestant/baptist heresy. Orthodoxy was found by apostles 2000 years ago, your heresy was found by usual disoriented heretical men 200 years ago at best.
@inri120 In larger churches and cathedrals, they have chapels where there is something similar to a side altar where the divine liturgy may be chanted. But in Orthodoxy and Eastern Catholicism, we say that all altars are considered High Altars.
It was such a relief seeing the servers fumbling. I remember when I first served at an hierarchical Liturgy and was exactly the same: standing in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing. It's very humbling but I learnt a little bit each time, and now I get most things right. When I get it wrong, I try to make my mistakes confidently so that people think I know what I'm doing and they're not distracted from worship. Those servers will grow and learn. God bless them!
The best way to learn more, Dedicednu, is to visit an Orthodox church for the normal Sunday Liturgy. You can learn some things from youtube videos but you really need to experience it. Also, many of the videos are of special occasions so don't really give you an idea of the feel of average Sunday worship. Why not see if you have an Orthodox church nearby, and maybe e-mail the priest to let him know you're interested in visiting? Someone may be able to look after you and answer your questions.
..CHRIST IS RISEN!!!...greetings to all my orthodox brothers and sisters throughout the world from an orthodox christian of puerto-rican descent...what they are singing in this video:: O, COME LET US WORSHIP AND FALL DOWN BEFORE CHRIST..O SON OF GOD, WHO ROSE FROM THE DEAD, SAVE US WHO SING UNTO THEE: ALLELUIA! Is there anyway I can see what a typical service is like? What the rituals are for the congregation? Things like that.
I've heard there is no sermon and no talking, that everything is sung and chanted.
I'd be really interested in learning more! :)

Orthodox liturgies do contain a sermon. It is not the main part of the service; 15 min. would be considered a long sermon.
