example of psychological child abuse: back in elementary school i would always get straight a's right? and my father thought i was a genius (don't worry i don't live with him anymore) well on the one time where i happened to get a B in math just because there was 1 test i bombed cuz i was having a hard time. his response was to tell me that i was a '...Fucking idiot and you'll be working in the fields and you'll never succeed at life" i was 8 so i thought all adults were right, this scarred me
It is also semi physically abusive. One of the mothers gives her a big bottle full of an energy drink, before every performance... Which can kill her. There is also one little girl, who is traumatized of hot wax, because she had a bad experience involving her skin getting ripped off.
When I was 11 my mom told me I was great at art, music, and I was smart. I watched this video and thought to myself... Did she lie? No! I had only been playing piano for 5 years and I was already playing level 3 music. I had been drawing non-stop for my crush, and she always said thank you and she loved them. I also took an IQ test on my 12th birthday. It turns out my IQ was 126. Sometimes people lie. Sometimes they tell the truth in thier heads, but it turns out that it wasnt true. Not for me.
would you rather play an okay game that will have online forever or an amazing game that only has online multiplayer for 2 years. (these are the only games on earth.)
Children get pressured into sports at the same age as these kids, so that argument you made is invalid. Any kind of pressure at this age especially where the parents try to live their dreams through the children should be treated the same. Sport or pageant, it's the same principle and just as traumatizing.
@ThelNobbler I think while that's true, the scale and absolute forced dedication to the point that it changes life is more prevalent in this pageant lifestyle than it is for kids that are forced to practice sports.
I think you'll find that your thoughts on this whole issue are pretty much the majority opinion... However, as far as the show is concerned, I'm with you on the thought that it's child abuse, but I think the main reason it's as highly rated as it is, is due to the fact that the majority of people are drawn to train wrecks... look at Jersey Shore... it's pretty sad really
I've been saying this for years!! Really agree with everything you said, it awful what they get put through, some of them are even forced to wear fake teeth. Disgusting world we live in.
I never thought about that show as child abuse before. Surprisingly though, I agree with everything that you said. Way to open my eyes to the situation. Keep up the vids.
I completely agree with you. and yes, I am some guy who watches your videos that has the same mindset as you. could you do another one of these on zoos or something and how corrupt they are? (I mean like how the imprison animals idk)
@xKapownd I completely agree with what you say. No kid should be forced to play a sport at a young age. But, my friend is the son of Al MacInnis (professional hockey player, St. Louis Blues). He has been playing hockey since he was very young, much before 8 years old. He is talented enough that within 3 or 4 years he could himself play in the NHL. How do you feel about this? Yes, at first he was forced to but no he loves playing it. Do you still apply the same logic or is it different?
If a child is not at an intellectual point where they can make informed decisions it should be illegal to make them or "allow" them to do things like this.
@TheEpicPaco It still is because they have been convinced into thinking it is a good thing. Also, they aren't, in most instances mature enough to make informed decisions.
@TheEpicPaco y would i. i didnt agree with his stances on most things before he entered office, and he has barley fulfilled any of his promises that he had. he just "layed the foundations"
I enjoy your videos Taylor, but in regard to this type of format in which you talk about your opinions on a certain subject I can't help thinking you're being somewhat hypocritical. In fact you said at the beginning of this video, you're talking to a captive audience and as such are unlikely to change any opinions as they are already very similar to yours.I can't see how this is different from Tebow-ing, so, do you not think a more controversial subject would stimulate debate?
send this to your local representative taylor. I'm serious. maybe take away the cod gameplay but this could actually probably get somewhere. its well thought out and you make alot of great points
That is a good analysis of this topic. I have never thought about it so I wouldn't know but you seem to have a good perspective and I can't really have an opinion.
Taylor i completely agree with you...these children are going to grow up and sadly be the bane of there generation there going to be insulted about being sluts or how there not perfect they could become anorexics or develop serious depressions because of little self-esteem they have this can lead to mentally unstable teenagers and even suicides and violence, these children are spoiled rotten and they will be expecting everything to be handed to them and when its not...they'll be helpless...
wait. i hate toddlers in tiaras and im only 14 so i havent had to deal with applying for colleges, jobs, etc. but isnt being unique and different a good thing? it makes you stand out from all the other people applying for the job? or am i just being a naive dumbass haha
@donov4nnn Depends what kind of differences we're talking here, differences as in a more outgoing personality more motivated? definitely positive. Differences as in being raised as the center of attention , under educated and thinks life is about looks? Definitely a negative.
@fartfacemcgee747 Then that may be a factor in why they do it, because they want their children to be a reflexion on what they wanted to be becuase they felt they weren't good enough.
I know the odds are slim of you seeing this, but I want to at least try. You are my favorite youtuber because of how intellectual you are. Like my favorite series you did was the dead space 2 series because the way you talked during it was so funny. like you were being sarcastic during it but it was very witty.
Thanks for the great videos Taylor, keep it up (y).
i totally agree with you, i mean dressing up your child as a princess in disney once in a blue moon is totally fine, but every week, and making them compete is totally wrong.
my girlfriend does turn to me to solve all her problems when she cant handle the "stress" of it or wont do it because of her anxiety and doesnt try new things but its not because she was pampered its because she was neglected a lot as a child and her dad makes her do every thing IE dialing his friends number on his phone but what would you say on this is that a form of abuse neglect but she is very mature and probably had to be that mature at such a young age
I think that it IS child abuse, unless the kid actually likes performing and doing that stuff. Taking advantage of toddlers because they can't resist their parents is just wrong. Im all for supporting the kid if they are doing something on that level because THEY like it.
I totally agree. These parents are just selfish and/or stupid. On one show a mother said, "im doing this, cause this will help my daughter in the future." social skills will bring you way further than being pretty....
i will agree some of it is wrong but those mothers don't see it as wrong because they did it and their mothers did it and their grand mothers did too. most of the time at least, beauty queens, i grew up with a girl that did it who came from a long line of beauty queens. i dont agree that it is entirely child abuse, regardless of it being psychologically inflicting, if social services hasn't deemed it child abuse, it isn't.
i will agree some of it is wrong but those mothers don't see it as wrong because they did it and their mothers did it and their grand mothers did too. most of the time at least, beauty queens, i grew up with a girl that did it who came from a long line of beauty queens. i dont agree that it is entirely child abuse, regardless of it being psychologically inflicting, if social services hasn't deemed it child abuse, it isn't.
@MrHelpmeoprah So if someone says its not they must be completely right? He has basicly just spent 12 mins trying to explain to people that he believes social services should consider this a form of child abuse.
@MrHelpmeoprah Sharia law says that murder is ok, does that make it ok to go to an Islamic country and kill everyone ? Just because some authority figure doesn't say it's bad, doesn't mean it's good.
I think this is kind of a no-brainer for most of your viewer(Including myself). I think you, going over some more controversial themes later would be great.
I saw one where a mother dressed her six year old boy up as a girl so he could compete... This and all the Republican bull shit will be the downfall of the world as we know it
Taylor i have always tried to express myself and my thoughts about how this show is in fact is child abuse which you clearly proved. I could never find words and a vocabulary to express how this show is just pure bullshit. But you my good sir emulated this is a near perfect and way i commend you for that. Your content is with no doubt the best in the Cod community. Keep up the good work! Slut!
Taylor, i completely agree 100% except for one thing. If these girls have been raised this way, and being the center of attention is all they know, insecurity might never set in. From your vantage point, sure they would get insecure. From theirs, they would stay in a bubble of "perfection" until they eventually have an experience that pops it. Besides that, fantastic video.
@poope0011 I don't mean to be pedantic but you can't 100% agree with someone except for one thing, because then it woudn't be 100%. As for your point I disagree, I think insecurity sets it far earlier for those children because they're at the center of attention and are pitted against one another, especially if they lose.
"i thought about that for a little while today and i thought heh, maybe they have a point there, but after i applied a first grade level of logic" thanks for making my day.
It's even worse when some propper uggo parent is like "who's the prettiest girl in the world" and the kid is like "me!" but she's a fucking minger too. That is the sort of person who will rely on their looks when they're older, but if you look like a beaten up sea lion, you cant do that.
Look, clearly it's bad enough that these things happen at all, but for TLC to go out and make a show that they deem acceptable about it is absolutely atrocious.
even if a dad forced his child to play sports its nothing like dressing 2-3 year olds and making them look "pretty" its trying to sexualise children its disgusting
one curious fact its all psicopaths (Remenber, people with out moral views or empathy) have the life objective of not being inferior, being the best, the number one, no matter the cost. Im wondering if in those years where the human mind just learns without being critical with new information this kids learn to never be infirior, like psicopaths, and if it actually makes them anti social or pscopathcy (If there is such a thing). Well, only time will tell (When they grow up we´ll see the effects)
But when you add children, it makes them vomit inducing. Just looking at the related videos' thumbnails on the side of the screen I would say it's downright pedo.
i agree but if anyone tried to prove it and actually asked the children if they liked it they would most likely say that they did because of being afraid of 'letting down' parents
you are the best commentator. You deliver quality, honest and at the very least somewhat educated opinion (as in you arent a professor in everything, but you know enough to make a solid argument), you are hilarious and youre content is CONSISTENT. All your videos have a clear message, and they are paced really well, so you get the message and the stories all at the right time (no rushing or lagging behind). Fuckin. awesome.

These shows actually make me want to vomit... and sometimes I do.

Besides that, fantastic video.
poope0011 3 weeks ago
@poope0011 I don't mean to be pedantic but you can't 100% agree with someone except for one thing, because then it woudn't be 100%. As for your point I disagree, I think insecurity sets it far earlier for those children because they're at the center of attention and are pitted against one another, especially if they lose.

It's even worse when some propper uggo parent is like "who's the prettiest girl in the world" and the kid is like "me!" but she's a fucking minger too. That is the sort of person who will rely on their looks when they're older, but if you look like a beaten up sea lion, you cant do that.
RyNsWoRLD 3 weeks ago 38
@RyNsWoRLD But sea lions are cute. Beaten up or not.

Well, only time will tell (When they grow up we´ll see the effects)
ormewq 3 weeks ago
i agree that it is child abuse but why don't social services get involved

generally, I think beauty pageants are sickening.
But when you add children, it makes them vomit inducing. Just looking at the related videos' thumbnails on the side of the screen I would say it's downright pedo.
RyNsWoRLD 3 weeks ago
My mom watched that show once and the mother said "She loves it". Goes to shot of child screaming "I hate these pagents!" LOL contradictions ftw

great argument Murka! :)
oharejpj220 3 weeks ago
i agree but if anyone tried to prove it and actually asked the children if they liked it they would most likely say that they did because of being afraid of 'letting down' parents

you are the best commentator. Fuckin. awesome.
