I have observed Olbermann's descent as well. Without Bush, he has to struggle to find material.
This may have been inevitable. Nobody seems to check his behavior.
However, as you say, it's about the ratings--and that's fair. I think he will lose viewers, and his ratings will plummet.
At that point, my wish will be granted.
