  • WOORRRRR TUHHHH!!!!

  • Very nice groundfighting application! Not many people are seeing these hidden techniques.

  • Really nice job there. It seems the Kanku Kata we do in Kyokushin is so different I can't see the application as clearly as you do it here.

  • Hi I'm from Brazil, I practice Karate and I liked a lot this bunkai, very good. Oss sensei Congratulations.

  • OSS! iMucho Respecto!

  • Excelente !! Aplicaciones muy realisticas!

  • Siempre que veo este video... me encanta... +10

  • This was a very refreshing approach to this kata's bunkai and I like it. Some of what is shown seems useful, while others may not be workable. Regardless, those demonstrating are very fit and athletic guys with a lot of energy.

As for the guy who keeps knocking Japanese Karate, quit watching these videos or you will have an ulcer!

  • Well done! :-) Greetings from germany

  • @ShowYourWorking 46 years of studying what karate was to the Okinawans. In depth knowledge regarding why kata were developed. A dislike for those that call a kicking and punching sport karate when it clearly was and is a martial art of a unique island people. Isn't it a shame that the "keeper of karate's highest tradition" doesn't even practice karate? I am amazed at the number of self deluded people I see on YouTube and in the west in general.

  • @ShowYourWorking Well, what you think if you were told by a very long term JKA karate-ka that they were unrealistic?

  • I noticed a mix of not only Karate but Ju-Jitsu and Aikido. Very nice video.

  • Oss felicitaciones . Buen trabajo. de donde son?

  • De Sevilla

  • ARE A FIGTHER

  • amazing job there ;>

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @TenderRolandSurrend

it is the theme music to the jet li movies, "Once upon a time in china".

They are well worth a watch.

  • esibizionista

  • heh, i liked when u performed it fast; i guess that is the only chance to make it- 2 b faster - in real fight ! otherwise u as karateka are gone & done will skilled opponent. extra plus fm music.nice. oss.

  • I think it's good. Thank you.

  • Whats with the CHINESE Wong Fei Hong theme tune lol

  • exelente bunkai :)

  • very nice techniques! nice video!! THANKS

  • very good!

  • Not bad.

  • This boxing technique is very incredibles. But that's a very small boxing ring with the blue carpets. It would be better if next time you used a bigger rings for your olympic trainings.

    3.5 stars

  • Hey very nice. Are you connectet du Patrick McCarthy/Koryu Uchinadi anyhow? Some of your techniques look like this.

  • why is chinese music playing to japanese martial arts? lol

  • haha u musta be chinese i noticed too the wong fei hung theme

  • Beautiful incorporation of grappling.

  • nice!!!!! really what i was looking for

  • great work, extra shown and excellent ,dunno what to say anymore beside extra.

  • Excellent combinations and fightingspirit, not the man to touch ...like that tiger on the wall .

About Kata : ?Can we ever achieve perfection ?

    Ofcourse not.

?So why we do them ?

Not trying makes us not Human ....

(Kyudo: The Essence and Practice of Japanese Archery, Hideharu Onuma with Dan and Jackie DeProspero )

  • The music is the Wong Fei Hung theme

Absolutely nothing good to say about that "Bunk"kai

  • Chinese music Japanese Karate?

  • bel video

  • scuse me, what's name of song?

  • from "once upon a time in China" soundtrack

  • Me gusta muchisimo.

He visto que Sud America tiene excelente karate

  • I liked the bunkai - very good, but his kata had terrible form - hips man, hips!

  • How does this guy keep students? He has no control. He keeps hitting them and shows very little control or technique. No hips doing the kata never mind the Bunkai.

  • We have an instuctor that teaches for 90 minuets and she talks for 20 minuets before teaching. Look at scorch13xx and tell me if this how to train?

  • what kind of dojo doesn't have hardwood? haha

  • "what kind of dojo doesn't have hardwood? haha"

The kind where people actually work and throw/knock each other on the floor?

  • ya mine had hardwood...and we did that

  • in the dojos i have trained in i have had splinters and glass in my feet. Padded floors are for the weak and forgotten.

  • Hi skater15153, i am barnstormer247. I want you to watch scorch13xx so funny. Hope you dont train like that. Best thing is the girl in jeans has no idea she is on you tube. She is know going to mark the other one.... But she is in a queue. Most of us insrtuctors are out to get her. PLEASE POST COMMENT ON CheekyMale08. This will be most greatfuly recieved.

  • Kata Bunki is what u make of it 8lyingdown options are endless verry impressed TRSANDAN

  • Wow! When do I get to learn bunkai like that?!

    simple, eficaz, real...

    un saludo!

  • It looks like self defense more than bunkai.

  • bunkai is self defence:P but i know what you mean you dont recicnize the kata

  • is egt supper mooi gedaan joh!!

  • wow! good bunkai waza!

  • Shotokan? It doesn't really look like Shotokan to me.

  • Are you kidding ? Kanku dai is the most representative kata of shotokan.

  • 10/10 thank you!

  • very good indeed !

  • i guess i feel bad for who would attack him that way. although i dont usually see fights like that of bad karate kid choreography

  • very good bunkai, but the first technic in the kata is to fast,(watch to the sun)to short or must spend more time for the technic. bunkai is top!. thx

  • Good job !!

  • wow...those bunkai looked almost nothing like the actual kata. Please explain when in kanku-dai do you end up in a rolling position on the floor, since nearly every one of your explanations involved this.

  • Beautiful bunkai - simply superb. I wonder if the speed has been increased.....

  • I think that this kind of training must be do by all students, thats the reason because karate is not atractive as other martial arts. I think karate is one of the best self defense martial arts... but only if bunkai is trained like is done in kempo for example.

  • Very, very...fuckin´good!!!!!

  • it is excellent. there are three or so other videos by different instructors of bunkai for this kata, and all show different applications. that is what is so great about shotokan , because you can interpret the kata in many ways. i would like to train with this caliber of people.

  • excellent demonstration!!!

  • Good oyo on Kanku Dai. I agree that many Shotokan clubs do not teach applications at this level. I was not taught any of these even through to Black belt. It was after that I learned to analyse kata and understand possible applications. Since setting up our own group in 2002 we have made sure that right from 10kyu we teach the principles and applications for each karate technique and kata set. We use common acts of violence as the starting point for bunkai and oyo. Good video I enjoyed it.

  • You're right. Excuse me my misunderstanding of your words. Such techniques are only for advanced students, but have to be learned to get the full experience of Karate.

  • No esta mal.

Un poco escopetado vais, pero mola.

  • educationnal video, thanks!

  • Shotokan? No, you won't see it much unless they have studied the above mentioned Ma and applied it to their kata. The same can be said for a lot of modern karate, regardless of their kata style.

  • Not true or you guess by the bad experiences with the bad instructors.

  • I know that Shotokan does this stuff. That's what I've been saying. It's just not as common in the lower levels, just like in any style. As I said, my brother did this stuff in Shotokan as an advanced student. My style is made up of Shotokan, Shito-Ryu, and Goju-Ryu. We do some this stuff, too, but it is usually the more advanced students. That's what I'm saying, not that Shotokan doesn't do it.

  • This man has definitively studied, Jujutsu, Judo or Aikido. Yug gichi gai, kata guruma, ude garame, ashi morte nage...how frequently do we see the average Shotokan karateka executing these techniques.

  • i dont think it actually says its shotokan,i mite be wrong tho.i do shotokai karate n we practice a few of those techniques too actually

  • In Shotokan, not too frequently, but in Goju Ryu you'll see this more. People like Sensei Chinen and Sensei McCarthy do a lot of this kind of stuff (joint locks, throws, takedowns, ect). A lot of throwing, joint locking, pressure points, techniques are found in traditional karate. They had to be, since they were often fighting the Japanese Samuris who did jiu jitsu.

  • Not true with your statement about Shotokan. We do such kind of things on Shotokan trainings very often with the advanced students. It is kata application, it helps to understand what kata mean - kata is like a poem, you can't just learn it, you have to understand and show your interpretation. There is no kata without interpretation. And it is Shotokan dude at this movie.

  • Oh, I know Shotokan does it. I guess I didn't say it the right way. What I meant was that the average student doesn't do it. It's mostly, like you said, the advanced students. My brother trained in Shotokan, so I know that he did some of this stuff as an advanced student.

  • You do some good applications using joint locks and such, and then you do some very ordinary applications.

  • i m a fench karateka and i m very impress

  • man... excelent work on bunkai simulating a real combat...

    Congratulations!

  • Inspiring!

  • Power!
