  • oh my god i want to punch your face.

  • I think Up should have won Best Picture. It dominates Avatar and ties with the Hurt Locker

  • I thought Hurt Locker was a great movie. While the Oscars were going on, I was cheering for Up because I hadn't seen Hurt Locker yet, and I think it would be great to have a children's movie win Best Picture one of these days. I saw Hurt Locker literally the day after the Oscars and I think it deserves its Oscar Win hands down. But then again, I was just happy that Avatar did NOT win. I agree that it was a brilliant movie visually, but story wise... I've seen it too many times before.

  • its unbelievable how terrible movies are being shot and granted awards lately,...

  • Nine should've won, but since it wasn't nominated (after the Blind Side & District 9 WTF?), Up in the Air should win. Basterds, Avatar, Up, & A Serious Man are my second set of choices.

  • I think the hurt locker shouldn't had won best pic or best director best direcctoe should had gone to avatar and best pic should had gone to inglourious basterds, It's funny I picked avatar for best movie of the year but i dont think it should win it.

  • (500) Days of Summer was left out!!!

  • I'm gonna say this 1 more time. HOW COME NOBODY GIVES A RAT'S ASS ABOUT UP!!!! The last time a animated movie was nominated for best picture was 1991 (Beauty and the Beast)

  • A Serious Man - how did it get nominated?????

  • @TheGodfather2399 By being awesome.

    Did you see it?

  • @smokyp3nguin

Yes and I didn't like it

  • @TheGodfather2399 But you can respect the craft involved in making a movie with such lofty themes, yes?

  • @smokyp3nguin It deserved a Best Original Screenplay nominee because it was written really well and I think that was good, but Best Picture?

  • A Serious Man should've won. It was pretty god damn amazing. Much better than Avatar, which was a stupid pile of shit. Loved Hurt Locker and Basterds...every other nominee was absolute crap.

  • @bhbman90 That's not true. Other than The Blindside, the other nominees were pretty good.

  • @smokyp3nguin Like I said before, the only good movies this year were A Serious man, Inglorious Basterds, and The Hurt Locker, and though I think A Serious man and Basterds deserved the win much more than Hurt Locker, I still think it a better choice than the rest of the mediocre movies that the academy picked this year, especially seeing as though more of them than not were picked because of their mainstream sucess.

  • @bhbman90 Did you even see the other nominees? District 9, up, precious, an education, and up in the air were all good movies.

  • @smokyp3nguin I watched all of those and thought they were all awful, aside from Up, which I think just isn't suitable to be a nominee for movie of the year.

  • I wanted either Avatar, Up, or Inglorious Basterds

  • I like Her !!Very professional,wel donne!

  • AVATAR was a very nice film. Just that it wasn't a film for oscars awards, except for the visual effects, THANK GOD the academy thought it twice, and took the right choice!

  • sandra bollocks for some of you

  • what the hell did everyone like about avatar? it`s the clasical sf like starship troopers, the blind side is a touching movie, but the action is to perfect for a drama, it`s full of joy the whole movie:)) especially from bollocks, and please, do not waste time on a serious man. it`s just crap. it`s as if you`s spy on your neighbour.

  • @interfecit hahaha!!!! true most of what you said. Personally I prefered Inglorious Basterds, or the Hurt Locker, followed by Precious.

  • o yeah, ingloriuos basterds is a good movie, watched it twice

  • i say its between precious, avatar or the hurt locker

pray to god its the hurt locker

  • @1testtube24 your prayers were heard

  • Avatar, District 9, Inglorious Bastards where amazing. wanna go see preciousss

  • Avatar

I think they will win. It is best movie ever made, I am even not saying this is best science fiction movie ever made.

  • Inglorius Bastards will win.

Although I think that Up in the Air should win.

  • district 9

  • I haven't seen Precious, Up in the Air, A Serious Man or An Education, but......

DISTRICT 9 FOR THE WIN!!!!! I also wouldn't mind if basterds or hurt locker won. In fact, I'll be happy as long as Avatar doesn't win...

  • @bigc2293 My thoughts are equivalent over Avatar, but how can you possibly side with District 9? Go watch A Serious Man. If you have any cellular structure left in your brain you'll know that Coen brothers is where it's at.

    Also, Hurt Locker won. Boohoo.

  • Hurt locker will win guaranteed. I have money on it. AVATAR WILL NOT WIN! If Avatar wins, then I will never watch the academy awards again (ok, I probably will, but still haha).

  • Avatar is going to win no doubt about that. What I WANT to win though is Inglorious Bastards. What an amazing movie. But hey, what can ya do....District 9 was also amazing. Inglorious Bastards, Bistrict 9, Hurt Locker, Avatar and Up are the only films that deserve to be on the list. Sick of the oscars and their political bs

  • Hurt Locker, District 9, Inglorius Bastards

  • I think that a lot of the people who say bad things about avatar don't like it because so many people like it. A lot of people bring up the fact that it is the same story as pocahontas, but that isn't doesn't make it a bad movie.

  • @TheCookieMonsterYUM No, but originality IS what makes a good movie.

  • avatar

  • My bet is on hurt locker.

  • avatar or district 9. A lot of you are saying the hurt locker, I saw it, it didn't impress me.

  • how could that not impress you? id say its right up next to saving private ryan in terms of being realistic and staying with the real world. excellent movie.

  • District 9 FTW original plot good characters great CG aliens amazing action and a really good ending to think about

  • avatar was soooo cheesy nd predictable, its such a sheep movie to follow, " do u like avatar? i like avatar! bah baah baaaah"

  • hurt locker.

    hurt locker.

    hurt locker.

    hurt locker.

    will win win win

    MROSOSMEE

  • i loved district 9 and blind side but avatar takes all

  • My vote would be for Up in the Air.

  • Either Avatar or the Hurt Locker is going to win. While I loved "Up," it doesn't stand a chance to win. I'm surprised it was even nominated, considered that only one animated movie has ever been nominated before for best picture.

  • @mrbrightside282 WallE and Finding Nemo were better, to me at least

  • avatar should win becuase it refreshes the idea of dances with wolves along with universal themes like love, self loathing to self aceptance, it tests authority, and makes people think twice about we are doing to are own planet. not mention jake sully is really cute, and the CG was awesome.

  • my money is on the hurt locker.

  • Up in the Air or The Hurt Locker should win. Hurt Locker is going to win even though Up in the Air really should.

  • Uggh shes annoying

  • This woman really bothers me.

  • the woman's voice is kinda getting annoying she sounds like a gameshow host

  • I think avatar will win, I personally enjoyed the Inglorious Bastards and Up in the Air better though.

  • Movies left out:

500 Days of Summer, Whip It, and Away We Go

Movies that should NOT have been nominated:

Avatar. (i.e. has a terrible plot and bad dialogue and is popular solely to hype and over use of computer technology)

  • 500 Days of Summer was technically released in Jan 2009 in some areas, making it uneligible for nomination at these Oscars

  • how? the cut off date is december of the year meaning that it is eligbible. the cut off for this years oscars is Dec 2009. Not every film will get nominated.

  • Avatar should for sure win. It was such an amazing movie!

  • Avatar will win

  • I think Avatar will win even though I would personally like to see The Hurt Locker win

  • avatar should win. it was just an epic movie i watched it 3 times. also amazing picture

  • First of all, if you havent seen all of these movies then you have NO room to say which one is the best. I have seen all of them and I believe that Avatar is a classic that will go down in history with movies like Titanic. I have seen it 14 times, 10 in IMAX :)

So I know Avatar will win, and I am willing to bet all my money on it. :)

  • Yeah, but when you get past the age of 12, Titanic is no longer a good movie. I think you're frame of reference is way off...

  • how is it not a good movie?

  • most of the people who saw titanic when it came out were past the age of 12.

  • yes it may win but idk know if you have ever watched the oscars but they don't exactly always go with the fan favorite theatre people werd and wacky and they have a different view than most so i would not go betting all your money on avatar

  • I really hope it doesn't. While Avatar was fun to watch, nothing in that entire movie surprised anyone. It was pretty to look at, but there just wasn't a lot of depth there.

  • second

  • @McStabby777 Agreed

  • Damn that lady is so fucking annoying

  • In my opinion the Oscar for the best picture should be given to the best international picture and not to the most popular Hollywood picture to please the mindless masses. Unfortunately they give out pity Oscars for charismatic characters or popular directors who have made previously good films etc.

Although movie is being made for four years and it's visually astounishing it doesn't necessarily earn a price for best movie. Avatar earns maybe Oscar for visual effects but that's about it.

  • inglorius basterds and avatar

  • District 9

    Avatar

    The Hurt Locker

  • hahahaha, i love the talkink lady xD

    she makes so awesome faceses:3

  • I'd replace "A serious man" with "Moon" any day. The Cohen Brothers are just an excuse to convince people there something "artistic" within their films when they are not.

  • 1. Hurt Locker

    2. Avatar

    3. Inglorius Basterds

  • Avatar... an instant classic!

    No way it can loose

  • you spelled lose wrong. dumbass

  • THE HURT LOCKER.

  • OBVIOUSLY Avatar it was in Bell Square for 3 months and still got sold out on the last week!

  • i think avatar.

  • @envyofuall: i get what you mean by the plot is that. but it should not be the best movie of the year, and not even close to the best movie of the era that someone wrote. the plot is just like pocahontas, good movie-yes, oscar worthy for best picture-no, that goes to the hurt locker or inglourios basterds. those storylines are SO MUCH more compelling than avatar

  • oh and by the way. another one that i would love to win has to be the hurt locker. that movie looks better than jarhead and it looks very realistic. almost maybe saving private ryan good??

  • best movie was distric 9

  • mmhmm its hard to decide, while avatar was highly succeful i enjoyed district 9 more and its has a much better storyline, but then again sci-fci usually doesnt win, up in the air was good as was precious , education was, meh okay i guess , a good movie but not really oscar material i would say and ing. basterds while lots of fun i wouldnt give it the gold, "Up" wasnt that good for a pixar movie,

i acnt really make a prediction but i would like to see disctrict 9 wining this.

  • avatar is gonna win tht waz the greatest movie eva

  • i personally loved precious far more than any of the other movies this year. where avatar and district 9 were amazing and also new favorites of mine, the plots were very predictable. precious tells a fresh new story triumph and overcoming obstacles... my vote would be for precious.

  • District 9 deserves to win but wont.

  • @jason12794, i cant agree with you more about how avatar is overrated. its a billion dollar reproduction of pocahontas: white guys come to a new land and try and take it over, chose one guy to learn about the "savages", falls in love, turns on the white guys, epic battle for the land, "savages" win the land. i would want that inglourious basterds to win. if not for best picture, the oscar for most badass movie has to be inglourious basterds

  • @mpcal25 U are apsouletly right

  • @mpcal25 couldnt agree more! i was captavated by the animation and acting, i questioned several times while watching... isnt this exactly like pocohantas?

  • OK, avatar was sweet, and you cock suckers can go fuck your selves. it was new and something out of the ordinary. so go suck a hairy cock and die you ignorant loads of shit. it took 4 fucking years to make and Cameron deserves every last one of thoughts fucking little gold fucks!

  • people people: it's all about Up.....in the air. that movie is really good. if you haven't seen it, you should you'll be really surprised at how well the story is told. :]

  • not oscar good really it came out in november and is still makeing millions in march

  • AVATAR IS SOOOOO OVERATED!!! for any person who actually likes that film, you must be an absolute idiot. its so predictable, i can easily tell what the story develops into, i predicted iimpediately thatthe main character would fall in love, who dies at the end,its just POOR. i am quite fed up with the fantasy rubish, i hope film directors come up with somthing new soon

  • @jason12794 Just because someone likes something you don't, doesn't make them an idiot....In my opinion, James Cameron did a good job with Avatar, but I'm not gonna call you an idiot just for not liking it

  • @jason12794 Actually I enjoyed Avatar quite much. Is it predictable? Yes. But in a good way. I feel that the movie was more of a reminder of how the Native Americans suffered as their land was striped from them all for the purpose of a raw material of great monetary value. Plot line is important but you have to look at the underline theme of the movie as well, otherwise you are ignoring a vital aspect of the film and seem kind of ignorant.

  • I honestly could care less who wins they were all amazing movies, otherwise they wouldnt have gotten nominated 0_o.

  • I want Inglorious Basterds or District 9, definately two of the best movies I've ever seen. I will be very dissapointed if Avatar wins, it's good, but not Oscar good.

  • I hope hurt locker wins. Avatard sucked in every aspect other than innovative 3D. I could tell precisely who is going to kill who, who dies at the end and who wins after 5 minutes of watching. Horrible and dull story line, seriously when i was in 3rd grade i enjoyed Pocahontas waaay more.

  • 10 is way too many movies!!! They could have taken away Avatar & Inglorious Basterds because those films do not deserve to be nominated! HURT LOCKER ALL THE WAY!! Its was arguably a perfect movie!!!! But its probably not gonna win because it did not rake in Billions of dollars like Avatar.....*sigh*

  • INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS FTW!!!!

I think 10 nominations is ridiculous, there a few nominations that are just too plain over rated, and the only reason they're on the list is because of the extra space.

  • I'll be upset if either Avatar or District 9 don't win, and something like the blind side does.

  • aVATAR is basically dances with wolves thought it was garbage, i would have to go with district 9. Everyone who thinks avatar is a one of a kind movie watch dances with wolves only difference is aliens space big mechs and 3D.

  • I watched Avatar for the first time yesterday, and have to say enjoyed it over the Hurt-locker. However, I have to admit that hurt locker is the more important work. Avatar could have been envisioned by 10, 15,20 and of course 21st century man. It is the tale of man's destruction. It could have been produced at any time in history if the technology was available. Hurt locker is the document of this decades bloddiest war; only we could make it;

  • I'm hoping for Avatar, District 9, The Blind Side, Or precious!!!!! <3 and luck!

  • 10 choices is crazy stupid, way over board. and Avatar should win best picture no question

  • She's so annoying....

  • I would be surprised if she can keep a boyfriend with that grating voice , unless he is deaf

  • May nik name best friend smale heppy free party pies love heart tu you smale beautiful baby.

  • for me its between District9 and Avatar... but Avatar has become a new benchmark for special effects, so I think Avatar will win.

  • a new benchmark for special effects? they have an award for that

  • no they dont have that category, but the acting was really really good, its all based on performance, but i think that the people that james cameron chose were carefully sorted, in saying that im just basing it on the perfomance of the actors, and i am really banking on either District9 or Avatar to win, because the performances were really good.

  • Yes they do, it's called Best Visual Effects. And the cast of avatar was decent, but the poorest performance had to be Sam Worthingtons which considering he's the main role, is pretty sad. Avatar was good, but had it's flaws. Other Nominees had less. And What's this about District 9???, sure it was good but it doesn't have a chance in hell.

  • I think Avatar will win, but not because it was good. I personally didn't like at all. But it was the most successful movie of all time, that should be enough to win... I'd still give to District 9 though.

  • I'm pretty sure Up is NOT a traditional animated movie. Retarted computer animation isn't REAL animation. >:( Beauty and the Beast is WAY better than UP

  • hurt locker was good but blindside was perfect

  • too many white movies gotta throw in a couple of black movies to make it fair.

  • @IndianDickLantern

So what's The Blind Side and Precious then?

  • The Blind Side will win. (no contest)

  • District 9!

  • Inglorious Basterds. I know it probably won't win, but I will root for it anyway.

  • right on man.

  • District 9

  • me personally i like avatar.... and truthfully that and blind side gave me a tear or 2....but i liked the story of avatar and the length because i hate movies when they end and i'm like "that was it". any one else feel the same?

  • Hurt Locker hands down!

  • avatar

  • avatar

  • District 9! Avatar had a lame story...

  • Yeah... Cuz District 9's story was SO original.

  • @Tronixciort what about avatar? was that original? all that bullshit about the humans that destroys everything? Im so tired of that kind of shit! Like in the day the earth stood still and knowing... >:( and besides, the maincharacter never told the Na'vi's why they where there! LOL

  • @snorreproductions I never said Avatar was the least bit original; In fact, it's probably the least original film I've ever seen. And believe me, I would take District 9 over that. Okay, I guess it was a little original when you compare it to Avatar, but in terms of both message and story, they both ripped of a lot of movies. But if I really had to vote, I would stick with District 9. Either that or Basterds. Both movies decided to at least put story above special effects.

  • district 9= lame

  • @thaiboypsp3000 why? it has more exitment, (in avatar I didnt give a fuck if the main person died) it is more interesting (everyone with a three digit IQ knew the ending of avatar) and its more violent! (VIOLENCE OWNS 8D)

  • Up should win an animated feature has never won best picture because there has never been one deserving of it and I think Up is that animation that actually is

  • Avatar

  • Avatar is the worst movie nominated. The horrible acting, terrible writing (unobtanium speaks for itself), and recycled plot are too bad for the special effects to outweigh it. I didn't even care about the main character by the end, I just wanted them to skip to the fighting and end so that I could go home. The reason why it made so much money is because people like special effects (Transformers 2 made a lot but it was shit). If you thought that Avatar was the best movie ever, you are stupid.

  • @Zeppelin7952 The 3D was amazing! just saying... but the story was lame!

  • Zeppelin7952,

    KEEP YOUR SHIT TO YOURSELF

  • Very true, man!

  • @Zeppelin7952 Avatar was an amazing movie

  • i dont really care if you didnt like cuz everyone has their own opinion. but dont be calleing people stupid beacuse you didnt like it! y liked it so what?? just beaucse you didnt, the rest are stupid! put some pant on and hit land!

  • @chicolatino11 are you talking to me? because I never called someone stupid... I HATE THE YOUTUBE COMMENT SYSTEM! And I cant find my oldest comments! >:(

  • you reek of ass

  • Yeah. It must've been good. That's why it won something besides an Oscar for visual effects....oh wait....no it didn't. I never said the effects were bad. The were amazing. The overall movie was shit though.

  • people that say Avatar sucks, really need to get their mind straight

  • inglourious bastards. avatar's story line blew

  • Up in the Air.

  • Lol someone mentioned the watchmen! that movie sucked such big nuts. If that was nominated i would shit a brick then eat it!

  • people keep saying that there was a lack of acting in avatar, go check out what the actors had to do for there roles. there was a lot more behind it then i thought when i saw the movie

  • Avatar should win because it's cool

  • I think that WALL-E should have been nominated for best picture when it was released, but ut's nice to know that animated films are getting the appreciation they deserve. But I think that District 9 should win. IT BLEW MY MIND!

  • Inglorious Basterds ! ! ! ! !

  • What the hell is wrong with you people; the results are already out..

  • Up in the Air should win, but won't.

  • What the hell is wrong with you people; the results are already out..

  • All these movies were good i thought! except the blind side I didnt see that one. I think Avatar deserves the gold to b honest though. Sum pple say that the story isnt that great but it was more about the look & feel of the movie. & quite frankly i thought the story was decent. The real reason the film deserves it is bcause James Cameron has been working on this film for 14 yrs! It was supposed to be realesed after titanic in 1999. Has anyone ever imagined how hard a film this was 2 direct?

  • Avatar better win. After coming out of the theater speechless, I came to the conclusion that it was undoubtedley the best movie I have ever seen. I just don't see how the movie that made the most money EVER, not just this year, could lose. As for all the people that say Avatar isn't worthy because of it's "lack of acting," know this, an amazing movie isn't only about the quality of the actors performance. Name one other thing as awe-inspiring as Pandora and its inhabitants.

  • avatar sucks u fool. how simple minded can u be to call this movie the best ever?

james cameron took a $400 million shit and every idiot in america called it amazing for reasons i will never understand

  • What you think of a movie is an opinion, you can't be stupid for liking a movie. Avatar should win because more people went to see it than any other movie, and the oscars should be about what people like, not what hollywood residents like.

  • 1. a person CAN be stupid for liking a stupid movie.

    2. i'm having trouble deciding who's dumber between u-- who thinks that the quality of a movie should be based on how many people go to see it-- or the moron below me who thinks avatar deserves an oscar "just because theyve been working on it for years" who do you think?

  • Nah i just dont wanna watch awards about what rich assholes think about movies. Actually i think precious maybe shouldve won because it was about some real shit and i wish more people could have seen it because it would speak to so many, especially the shit poor ones.

  • @ParkSlopeGangsta and the hurt locker WASN't "real shit"?

  • AVATAR needs to win best picture just because theyve been working on it for years.

  • Ugh. I'll be so disappointed if Avatar wins. That movie was not that good. Hoping for UP that movie was adorable and Pixar deserves it.

  • Honeslty Avatar should not win. It was a great movie but it was so overrated. I personally think that Inglorious Bastards should win. It was a great movie all around.

  • inglorious bastards all the way

  • Avatar getting all these nominations shows what the public looks for now in a movie. Special effects and action scenes. Story, good dialogue, and character development have sadly taken a back seat to high budget cliches.

  • just as long as the blind side doesn't win

    god, i hate sandra bullock

  • honestly i wouldn't like avatar to win the best picture, because if avatar won that, it gives me to understand that people are looking for the same violence, the same fights of all times we can watch in TV or other movies. But i like very much Precious, Up in the air, or UP (my favorite, with precious) to win the best picture. It means that people are looking for some changes in nowadays society, personal overcoming, etc. I know some of you don't agree with me, but it's my opinion.

  • her voice makes me wanna rip my ears off.

  • you know there checking the comments at the bottom right?

  • Avatar deserves this Oscar. It was an awesome movie and Pandora is a beautiful place so i have to say Avatar

  • It's a beautiful face with a tired plot and some ridiculous dialogue. But Its PRETTY!!!!!! Definitely the best picture.
