They performed this routine at the Sydney Salsa Congress earlier this year and the audience exploded with applause! Of course, they deserved every clap!
These are my friends and they did an excellent job at Carolina Groove at North Myrtle Beach - thanx guys for performing at our event! Love...Jasson and Kelly
Son los fabulosos!!! the best of the best!! soy carla de argentina y no hay pareja de baile mejor que ustedes en el planeta tierra sonlos mejores sin duda!! gracias porq año tras año lo siguen demostrando.
They are absolutely PHENOMINAL. I saw this performance live, and like georg said, it's SO much better in person. To boot, Tatiana was sick. as. a. dog. for this performance. She came out of her room to compete and not much more. You can see her trying so hard not to cough at the very last held pose. To perform that well being that sick... it's no wonder they're the best!
Who was that woman heard screaming over and over again? I seriously had to stop watching midway because she was driving me crazy! Somebody should have put a muzzle on her. Really! It's one thing to react to the performance, and another to DETRACT from the dancer's concentration and the enjoyment of those who are watching. JERK!
Correct, West Coast Swing is not a ballroom dance. It is a club-style street dance. Even though there are all forms of swing, not all of them fall under ballroom.
We saw them in Atlanta and as great as this looks, it's incredible live. If you have the chance to see them do this routine in person don't pass it up.
Hmmm. This routine almost has a ballet feel to it. Not sure if I dig it, but I gotta applaud J&T for taking WCS in new directions. Lot of people out there are afraid to do that.
I agree that it wasn't really typical WCS music, but I think they made it work. It looked like there was a bit of ballroomy influence with some of the movements.
However I think the music does not really fit the dance, the WCS. They made the best out of it, it is visible that they concentrated on the long flow with nice accents in the end, still not their best choice ever. Technically amazing. Sry if I'm totally wrong.
that's the thing about the top couples in WCS. they use music not normally danced in WCS in social settings, nor that the average WCS dancer would be able to dance to. but the top dancers can & do so quite well.

you touched on something i commented on on their new 2009 routine as well. im not sure if the dance style fits the music...which is sad and lyrical, while they are dancing something smooth and sexy..hair flips etc.... Perhaps they couldn't compete in wcs events is there wasn't a certain amount of west coast swing in their routines.... I've heard there is some debate about their dancing becoming less and less westieish and then how do you judge it. Competition = judging= standardized=in a box
No, actually, the way they put their music in with their routine is perfect. The way they've also incoperated those turns and hairflips and such, it makes you focus on the DANCE rather than the SONG.
Swing is Ballroom, and last time I checked, this is West Coast Swing. Therefore, it's ballroom...it's just really cool, really sexy, amazingly fun to dance (in a bar on in a ball) ballroom dancing. :) And these two are the best.
to the non-dance world, it is safe to describe WCS as a "ballroom" dance because it's danced with a partner. however, it is not a competition dance in the BALLROOM world, only in the swing competition world and the CW competition world. And, what's worse is that the few ballroom instructors & competitions that do offer WCS in competition ... ECK! Never Ever take WCS instructions from a ballroom competitor/instructor. they are clueless.
Perfect phrasing, amazing moves!

Their dance style has won them countless titles. It can't be that bad... To be honest I think its pure musical genius

@EdwardElrick129 My point was think the song and the dancing should be in harmony... Do not sacrifice one for the other.

Awesome...shame they didn`t bring this one to the US open.....still the best couple IMHO bar none.....
schnooky1000 3 years ago
Actually this is the exact same dance they did at the US Open in 2007. And technically, West Coast Swing is ballroom dancing.
Chicogirl89 3 years ago
No it isn't. Bar-room sure, ballroom? You godda be kidding me.

Then you need to check again. There is no WCS competition in either American or International ballroom. Look it up.
