@superturkeylegs you don't have to hate them. I had family in both, and they fought just to survive. It doesn't matter what army you're in, because every army performs atrocities. I'm actually proud of my family who survived ww2 against the soviets in the hitler youth and wehrmacht

The horror of the Nazis who invaded and killed peaceful nations around shouldn't be forgotten at the scene of young German boys' ordeal. There is always exploitation of children in a war. That doesn't make Nazis worthwhile a sympathy. Damn Nazis, Kill them all for God's sake. Why should I cry for the Nazis 16 year old boys when our grandfathers got killed by them in their twenties ? I hate those Nazis sympathizers. Bring General Patton and wipe them out.

the Nazis didnt kill peaceful nations around or kill as manny people as you may think. americans killed more people than the nazis in ww2.thoes peaceful nations that you say the nazis took it was realy the other way around because ww1 as started by poland and they just wanted to blame Germany and for Germany at that time they could sind the treaty or get bombed to nothing. all thoes othere countryes mest up Germany and germany was takeing back what they had before ww1. i have proof for all this

@NordischesLicht Patton wasn't an angel. Gen. Dwight Eisenhower fired him from his commanding position because he talked too much BS in public. However, when it comes to wiping out Nazis, he was the greatest. Watch out for the dictator. If innocent public (like German people) allows a dictator to seize power, the entire nation becomes a war machine. You need to learn a lesson from the history instead of being sympathetic to stupidity.

I saw this film in Germany on Deutche Fernsehen. I was probably 5yrs old and still remember some of it. My overriding memory was that in German movies, the Germans are the good guys and Americans are evil. Being half German myself I didn't know what to make of that idea. My memory of the climax was all the Americans dead and all but one German kid dead. It ends with him going home, crying. So the Germans won that battle.

I'd like to find that DVD although I don't recall enough German

@crvc56 Hi. Have you tried the 2008 version of the film? It is still in German but has subtitles. Good film and yes shows WW2 from another angle.

Die Bruke" was a great movie. While stationed in Germany I saw the movie in a German theater around summer 1960. I wish they would show it on TV (maybe Turner Movie Classics Channel or something). These kids were school kids who, in the Hitler Youth, were assigned to hold a bridge during

the last months of the war. Their CO was their school principle, who told them

not to waste their lives, but to surrender to the Americans as soon as they

saw them, and not to fire on them. Vy sad

Maybe the original was better, but I just saw the 2008 version and it sucked.

To many cheesy scenes and stereotypical characters which in no way where able to communicate the emotions that where intended for the scenes.
