we all love it when there is a movie where the bad guy has a bodyguard who is there for the sake of being cool with no lines and eventually the hero kills him one on one, the most recent one was steve austin in the expendables and he was exactly that, a henchmen who didn't speak but was COOL AS HELL
Wish Hans could have been given more film time or at least some speaking lines in the movie. Still a good, hard-hitting fight though. The Connery Bonds are the best, bar none.
LOLLL its so funny how fake the fight now looks since this was the 60s it looked quite good and still does but some of the punches are just so over the top and stupid but still funny
I believe It's "you only live twice." After Goldfinger they start to loose their luster and you can't really tell one movie from the other, at least until Timothy Dalton regenerates the awesomeness in "The living Daylights." and then the Bond renaissance happens when Pierce Brosnan steps into the spotlight.
Nah, Craig cosmetically looked the most lean. However Connery walked into the part with natural athleticism. Craig, before he got the role thought "oh shit, I'd better get into shape". Whereas Connery was a bodybuilder who had studied martial arts and movement... and it showed.
Props to the Craigster though, he has worked hard.
Definitely Lazenby. He was the only Bond to have been in the military (special forces no less), and trained extensively in the martial arts. Lazenby would kill any of the other Bond actors in a real fight. Too bad he couldn't act.
These fights are muh better than in the new films. They're trying to make Bond like Bourne and it isn't working. These old fights might appear staged and less realistic than the nw films but they're much better to watch. I don't mind less emphasis on gadgets now, but Craigs films miss the proper Bond qualities: A rich super villian, threat of global war, a good henchman, a fantastical bad guy base.
GADGETS PLEASE? there's not even hardly any WOMANIZING going on in the Daniel Craig Bond's!
I want a flirty secretary, and a handheld lazer disguised as a lighter that transforms into a jet-powered hanglider and a million girls that strip faster than you can say "the name's..." THAT'S WHAT A BOND MOVIE IS!!!!
to be fair there were some gadgets in casino royale...and womanising, quantuim of solace seemed pretty minmal on those counts though I guess it's beacuse Craig's Bond is Flemming's Bond, cold and brutal. but i think now as bond has been ressurected and settled into the modern age we will see more of the old stuff come back in the next movie.
Yeah, of course he did! So all these people going on about "Flemings Bond" like to look like they know what they're talking about, but it's obvious to me they have NEVER read a book.
And I'm not just talking about Bond books... ANY books.
@doctorlinden i think i agree with you more than anyone else in the world. brosnan and craig suked. you actually know what you are talking about, unlike any other person on youtube
@bigbo2700 Brosnan and Craig are fine enough actors - it's the whole direction the series has taken that lacks something of the classic films. Casino Royale is a good film - if you view it as a stand alone movie. QOS was terrible, with Bond darting around the world, no proper super villian or henchman! The only Brosnan film I watch is Goldeneye - it was the last of the classic Bonds IMO.
@doctorlinden Thats the essence of the Bond FILMS not the books they are based off of. The books are very realistic. Not to say super villain bases, and henchman aren't cool but the new one has it's merits also good sir.
This is what i like about the Bond films: all of the climaxes are awesome and only a handful actually take place in hazardous scenarios. I mean really this is a cool final fight and is just awesome.
There are some good fights in 'YOLT' but the fight with Hans is pretty weak. For one thing, Bond walks right into the first punch. Then, he tries to run away and falls down just before tossing Hans into the water.
Wouldn't it be faster just to snap the guy's neck, then go for the control panel? After all, Bond fought and killed Oddjob before rushing to defuse the bomb in Fort Knox.
I actually think seans a great bond hes very athletic strong I think he may be strongest bond also think timothys strong roger was storng but he reached old age by the time he played bond.
@WooshOnGuitar This is not Timothy Dalton.I am amazed to see 21 other people thinking it is! It is the original ,1st Bond of the movies,Sean Connery.Who could possibly not realize this!
DoktorBScheuert - yes, I love it to see that "trained close combat stuff", too!! Craig does it very, very good in the new movies!! But I guess all this effective, military fighting techniques like Wing Tsun, Krav Maga, Sayok Kali and all the others are very "modern"! As far as I am informed the "classical" Bond was a trained boxer and Judo fighter!! Those brutal killing techniques are part of the training, special forces and secret service personal use in the 21st century!!^^^^
Heyyy - I am blond, german and over six foot tall!! No, my name isn`t Hans (actually I don´t know a single one^^) And I like children and little dogs!!^^^^ Why does it always have to be the german guy??? Just kidding, folks!!^^^^^ I love it!!^^^^
havin a scrap with a german oak is what james bond does every saturday night on the piss with his mates from mi5.great first punch by hans.even i felt that....

he could have flipped the light in these two seconds :) to make a cool finfishing move. like when you flip a pen with your fingers but instead of this, he flipped the whole lamp with his hands which we don't see in these two seconds. quite possible that he is this skilled despite his bulky appeareance.

You Only Live Twice was very famous because it feature the first Bond film in Asia, Japan to be specific. Ronald Rich (the guy who played Hans) was one big dude though, he stood at 203cm (6'8") and weight like 270lbs. Still funny how Bond just walks right up to Hans and gets punched in the face lol.
Bond got the crap beaten out of him, he would have been beaten to death without his wit and luck.

Yeah, I know. Hans is like "Welcome to Blofeld's. I'm gonna kill you."

It's weird seeing Bond knock this giant around when he couldn't hurt Oddjob in the slightest, even when he punched him square in the face.

Okay, let's get this straight. Was Hans played by a professional wrestler? No. Did Hans have a sharp metal hat? No.
