Very appealing young baritone voice. Rich in quality. Good line. Breath excellent. I might even prefer this recording to that of the divine Dietrich Fischer Diskau, whose version is a bit slow and ponderous. I do not say such a thing lightly. DFD is the gold standard of the art song. But this is well done, too. Congratulations to the strings, as well--- a fine performance. Bravo, bravissimo! all around.
I went to a recital at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University and the baritone, Victor, performed this song. It was absolutely stunning. Kudos Christopher Herbert.
Excellent job! I did this piece for my senior recital 30 years ago. It's not an easy piece. So many subtleties and nuances. And you tackle them VERY well! Bravo!!!
This is a tremendously calculated and intelligent performance of one of the great songs in the English repertoire. Your voice is resonant and expressive, and makes this song many times as affecting and troubling as it already is. Many bravos are due both to you and to the expressive and ensemble-perfect string players with you. My sincere applause goes to you today.
I'm going to be singing this sometime in the next year. I need to find a string quartet but I love this piece. It's wonderful. and you did an amazing job.
Phenomenal performance, all around. Superb! Bravo! This performance is brimming with passion and over-the-top musicianship!

This is a wonderful performance; intense and committed. The silence after the last note faded is telling.
