i beg to differ with you on this. however The s&w 500 is the most powerfull handgun in production. the second would be the 454 Casull. The Thompson encore uses a .45 Colt round. there also available in .270 and .308 with a 15" barrel. (this is a rifle). same as the wetherby CFP. the 500magnum uses a round of over 500 bone crushing grains to take down large game you wouldnt dare try to hunt with a 308. you need to do some more research.
they made some .600 Nitro Express revolvers for what, i dont know. its been mislabelled as the most powerful pistol too many times. it is the most powerful *PRODUCTION* revolver. .600 NE is even more powerful than the .500s&w (even though some 3.1k foot pounds of power is still overkill) in a rifle, the nitro will produce mroe than double the S&W's power in a pistol. yeah yeah, barrel length, but i doubt the S&W could get up to the same power as the nitro.
At one time the .600 Nitro was the most powerful commercial rifle cartridge in the world. However, that title is now held by the .460 Weatherby Magnum and its 8245 fp of muzzle energy. But we are taking about handguns here not elephant guns.
i dont see any pistols chambered for that round, though. i said rifle to demonstrate what is possible from the round. unsurprisingly, people are reluctant to shoot a .600 thru their antique pistols to measure velocity.
there ARE pistols chambered in .600NE. i didnt find any for the .460, could you point me to them?
actually, by bending your elbow on purpose you can absorb the recoil better, and since its a revolver and you have to cock it each time, its not like its going to force you to take your sights off your target.
nice! i thought it would have more power than that, but still good. although i prefer the desert eagle to be honest. more shots, still very powerful and easier to reload right?
I shot my first one last night! Fucking awesome! Hurt my hand! But I loved it!

I couldn't imagine having a C&C and carrying a cannon like that around. In a little over a year I'll be getting a C&C permit and a 1911 Colt.

Jubeikbakami2006 what about the .40 S&W?
xvirus2501 3 years ago
.40 S&W average load:
135 grain bullet 1150 fps equates to = 396 foot-pounds of muzzle energy.
Slightly higher load 150 grain at 1100 fps =
400 ft-lbs. About equal to 45 ACP.

sweet, thanks!

The Desert Eagle .50 AE packs a punch, but I believe the Wildey .475 Magnum takes the title as the most "powerful" autoloader pistol in production.

The S&W is a double action all you have to do is pull the trigger.

Not nearly as powerful as the 500 though. The auto Catridges and the Revolver catridges are much different.

My brother & I both own one, lots of fun. Try the 450gr Win. Platinumtips. For fun (& reduced cost) I'm loading my own.

Shot the 4" one this week. Nice recoil, though not nearly "unmanageable". $50 for 12 rounds is a killer, though.

Ive seen one of those with double the length of the barrel.

I bet it would look a lot worse if the shooter was inexperienced. Good form always makes things look easy, nice shooting!
