  • epic evil laugh at the beginning :D

  • I know you guys will think this is a lane question to ask and I haven't seen the full movie but why is it called eugines trick bag??

  • @TheInvalidChronicles Just someone titling their video upload, but mainly, I'd say because just before Eugene goes on stage Willie gives him a bag of "mojo" the "mojo hand" a voodoo charm, plus that last bit of guitar virtuosity Eugene busts out with that wins the contest.

  • This movie is sooo badass - If they made a part2 who do you think would be cooler to do vai's part John5 or Buckethead?

  • hahaha i just love how willie dances while he plays

  • Any ideal where i can get this piece or song?

  • @ThisIsUrName Alot of what Eugene played comes from Nikolo Paganini's 5th Caprice for the Violin.

  • 2:18 what's the name of this song? Soooo awesome!

  • it's funny that he was messing up in the easiest parts XDDD

ahh stevie stevie... even when you "mess up" you still don't really mess up... :P

  • it would of been so funny if after the kid finished the old man Slapped him, for being a lightning boy :P

  • Before I die, I'm gonna rip this one. Steve Vai, you're the MAN!!

  • Axe on, Axe off

  • Steve Vai is a shit actor. We all know he can play that with his nut sack.

  • I didnt know that you could bend, and make it sound like an orchestra!

  • best part of the movie hands down.....its like every time you watch the movie your just waiting for it to get to this part....love it

  • On the tabs for this it says that the last bend is on the 29th fret....

  • @yamahaacoustic95 I think An extended range guitar might have been used, OR Steve vai used one of his greatest tools, The WHAMMY BAR!

  • @yamahaacoustic95 It's a A harmonic at the end of the string(And an other guitar added another lower A)

  • @yamahaacoustic95 harmonic on the neck p-up.

  • 1:07 hit that note on a telecaster???? hahahahahah

  • @kristolaos 31th fret! :D

  • @Matjex yeah! freakin impossible!! :D

  • @kristolaos exactly :D

  • such irony in the reality of this battle lol :P

Vai wrote Trick Bag. Vai even performs Trick Bag in the movie for Macchio. Vai tried to play Trick Bag as character in movie.

    Vai loses. such irony! XD

  • Vai is the only guy in the world which can beat himself in a guitar duel...

  • retarded how could vai lose haha

  • Crossroads

  • what is the movie ??

  • i love vai's face @ 1:16 :3

  • please, don't forget that steve vai has made this song xD.. and he had recordered in this moovie..

  • i cant imagine how stupid karate kid must've felt faking that WHOLE ENTIRE THING! Sidebar the whole movie! hahaha

  • corniest scene ever!!! i thought crossroads was about the blues not lame ass shredding.

  • @ralvir your an idiot, did you watch the damn movie?

  • karate kid sabe toca ?

  • I can't believe it

  • He should get a refund from the devil. I'd be very pissed after selling my soul and all!!

  • Steve Vai does the Robo Walk..damn!!

  • this video should be called, GET OWNED!

  • This scene is a complete fallacy. It is impossible by the laws of god for him to mess up, ever. He's like the Incarnate of God for Guitar

  • ok lets see.....he beated steve vai, raped in the movie karate kid, killed the socs from the movie the outsiders.....What else can he do?

  • He's like "motherfucker" at 1:11 haha

I only played this once perfect like that, then my mojo left..

Tried ever since but it never came back. T_T

  • @useit90 He's like motherfucker but he's like, oh wait I'm Steve Vai, and I believe I did invent both ends of the solo, I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO LOSE D:<

  • was he really the one playing??

  • @0507nix sorry, but no :(

  • .... ok

  • i knew that machio couldnt actually play guitar from the start of this movie.

  • Vai should have used starpower!

  • @psychopathtoine This aint your lame ass game guitar hero!!...

  • @metalheadlbd it's a joke, i thought people would get it... <_<

  • the black dude in the begining of the video laughs like the baboon on the lion king. that's not racist....okay a little bit, but still funny

  • @MrVincentR Haha dats funny...XD And true..lol

  • the funny thing is on steve vai's last bend he was just about to hit that high Bb, and the other guitar player (the one who won) used harmonics

  • Believe it or not, Vai actually did both of the parts. Karate Kid there is just syncing it. Damn good solo.

  • herrlich wie er ihn auf der uralt-telekaster herfiedelt :D

  • black monkey god tormentor

  • THIS IS RY COODER!!!!

  • @robsonschlosser93

wrong ry cooder is the one who did the slides and shit.

steve vai did this one himself

  • foda!

  • I heard they had to do like a million takes because Steve Vai couldn't mess up.

  • can anyone actually fingerpick this?

  • @derfidacra I too have wondered this. I imagine that the best fingerstylists could manage this (I would be less certain, but it's seldom a good idea to assume that something's impossible; there's always some particularly brilliant person!). I'm pretty sure that playing it like Macchio is playing here is impossible, though.

  • omg karate kid!!

  • fucking idiot it is steve vai!! bitch!! fuck you mother off!! :))

  • It was harder for steve vai to not play the song then to actually play the song.

  • pause at 0:01

    epic win.

  • Anyone who can't imagine to play that without a pick watch MARCO TAMAYOS Version of the 5th Caprice (Eugenes Trick Bag is an arrangement of the 5th capr. by Vai, originally - of course - by Paganini) I dont know whether its fake or not i just wanna tell you that its possible... So check out Caprice Nr. 5 by MARCO TAMAYO if you don't believe...

  • haha what a fake, you cant play this shit without a pick

  • @blackseeds666

a blues man has the fingers and nails of steel.

  • Look at his face at 0:27. I bet he's thinking "I about to own you Steve".

  • STEVE VAI'S EYES!!! lmao!

  • The Solo is Just Brilliant...

But I cant imagine someone FINGERPICKING that........

  • @37antattack

    He's not.

Vai recorded it, his hands are just moving in positions that look like they're in the right spot to people who don't play guitar.

  • has this been sped up or has the pitch been moved up a semitone?

  • the best part is the 0:27 - 0:58

  • Comment removed

  • I loved this movie and this was always my favorite part....imagine a classically trained guitar player...how awesome would that sound when applied to rock and the blues!!!

  • the karate kid is really good at pretending how to play guitar haha

  • TRUMPED!

  • I have decided that even though I am a novice when it comes to guitar, I am going to learn this song

I am also going to learn the song Sure Shot on the flute.

  • U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-E-B-A-B-L-E

  • Steve Vai should've done a crane kick on the karate kid when he couldn't beat him at the end.

  • steve vai is so damn ugly but holy fuck can he ever play legit is my idol

  • Karate Kid using classical guitar knowledge he learned in the beginning of the movie to whoop Steve Vai's ass in a guitar duel judged by Satan to win a man's soul back from eternal damnation? Classic.

  • Christ, is the pitch jacked way up on this or something?

  • steve vai plays the solo guitar for them both ry cooder only did the slide guitar

  • Ry cooder did all of the blue's guitar parts

    says in the beginning credits

but i think this is a vai solo none the less

i forget to be honest XD

  • it is written by Vai. he recorded it on an album even.

  • ya ry cooder only played the slide part... vai did the last solo... read up on stuff before u post it...

  • That's correct, someone off-screen was playing the kid's part, in real time.

  • nobody can come close to steve vai's riff

  • karate kid aint playing the guitar its steve vai

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best Buy has this movie for 5 dollars this week

  • lol, Steve Vai outdid himself, quite literally

  • steve loks like hes gonna go kill himself at the end

  • wow you cant bend the strato caster's strings that high!

  • is not a stratocaster. it is a telecaster just so you know :) and with the right strings you can bend pretty high

  • the dont even know what he is playing

  • this song is my future goal. when i get this, i will be satisfied

  • ralph kicks *ss!

  • in real Steve will kick him ass

  • steve vai plays both parts =P

  • exactly what i was gonna say

  • That kids last note is so epic! How does he do that?

It sounds like a whole symphony is playing that note! lol

  • lol, i think it is a whole orchestra.

  • It sure is one epic chord

  • hahah, the laughing guy in the beginning really reminds me of Kobe Bryant:D haha:D

  • i started learning this song today, i cheated a little bit and i tap the C note on the first bit, but all the arpeggios are still really difficult for me

  • what kind of guitar is steve vai using( the red one)

  • when vai drops his guitar on the ground my soul feels like it has done the same thing haha

  • All you jealous motherfuckers GET A LIFE, especially those fucking shit kids that started from Guitar Hero.

This isn't a difficult piece, and PLEASE understand that if you were born around this time you would probably think this guy and Karate Kid was awesome...

    Ignorant punks

  • omg...shut up...you clearly have no idea what your talking about...seriously...I started play guitar way before guitar hero and I play both...this is a difficult piece for begginer or intermediate...not advanced because youll know all the arpeggios

  • Umm... Steve Vai is one of the best guitarists in the world.

  • this is a movie!!

steve Vai is Better than Ralph!!

    hahaha...!!!

  • does the karate kid (don't remember his name) play himself in this movie??

  • he doesn't play guitar, steve vai plays both pieces and the other person, Ralph Machio or something i think, mimes playing it

  • this is good but heres an interesting fact. The final note at 1.08? the bottom 2 notes of the triad are overdubbed. Its hte only part of the song that is.

  • first great solo I ever heard, in Total Guitar magazine :) made me realise just how shit I was haha

  • karate kid fails from his fakeness

  • This is one of my favorite guitar solo's way up there with eruption. It's just magnificent.

  • EVH FTW!!

  • @ThaJoker71 It's Paganini's actually.:(

  • @ThaJoker71 The solo's a cover of an italian violonist paginini's caprice no. 24. incredibly breathtaking nonetheless

  • @noobiepro1234 not just a cover, steve rewrote it.

  • Pass domani va alla messa di pasqua con cranio

    apprezzo

  • yo guitaridol206 i cant fuckin believe u think ur better then eugene in the video wtf

  • Everyone disregard that last comment. This is my all time favorite video and some one with the youtube account AlMoStSk8r9 hacked my account. If you need to waste your time--send some garbage to him. I would tell you all his name--but i dont know if thats legal, so I wont. O yea--I am learning this peace and it is deffinitely more than "a few chords"

  • whoa....guitaridol.....you went from an annoying person to somebody with a mind. Weird

  • i like penis any1 got a prob with that lol o yea this mutherfucker sucks im 10 times better than this faggit omg he can play a few chord im inpressed

  • This is write by Steve Vai, Ry Coorder write another theme

  • Ry Cooder wrote the blues part of this scene. It was in the clips before this too, where Steve Vai freakin kicked ass.

  • Ry Cooder wrote that you damn idiots not Vai

  • actually Paganini did study up dude

  • paganini wrote it but cooder arranged it

  • all i knew, the "trick bag" part originally played by the Vai himself

  • the black guys laugh in the beginning sounds like mufasa from the lion king

  • dont you mean rafiki?

  • q mierda esta tokando sin uñeta.. =O

  • los guitarristas clásicos que estudiamos primero con guitarras criollas no usamos púa

  • heres what I dont understand if vai wrote that, why is "the karatetkid" the one who plays it?

  • because if vai had played it he would have won, which would screw up the whole movie.

  • Steve Vai wrote it for the part of the kid, and the kid is supposed to win.

  • the karate kid ain't got shit on VAI LMFAO

  • I love Steve Vai's talent to play a song he's "never" played before and do "ok" on it. I wish I play something near that good in one sec, but a little more practice and he would've over owned Daniel Son. That lady just never stops DANCING!!

  • at 01 :10 that guy looks scared

  • For Every one who wants to know, Karate Kid is not really playing yet it is not, i repeat NOT Steve Vai's Hands. The Guitar Track was previously recorded and Karate Kid (sorry not sure of his real name, i just had a mind blank lol) went through intensive training to learn how to mimick it with his fretting hand, its not perfect but its damn good acting!

  • Very good acting. His name-from the movie-the old grumpy old hag-jk-called him Daniel Son.

  • its not steve vais hand retard he not even playing it right i can play this song on guitar and it does not match at all

  • First of all its not a Yamaha its a fender, and second, when the kid is shown playing, its actuall vai's hands

  • I doubt about that!

The hands aren't the same, vai has scary long fingers...

It isn't to hard to pretend your playing that piece of music, it takes some practise but that's all...

The hard thing about playing this piece (or whatever piece) is to make it sound good but he's acting and not playing live ;)

  • dude the actor who plays kid can acutally play the guitar

  • Yeah...but not that good. Just awesome acting.

  • No, he cant, he's airguitarring. He was taught guitar for 8 months, and also taught how to finger, not actually play, so it gives the illusion that he is.

  • speed up can u please tell me how does videos speed up

  • paganini

  • No matter how you slice it, that's great guitar, however, just for the record, it sure seems that the Trick Bag is at least a half step higher than standard tuning - in other words, it is sped up ... There are obvious open notes, and the pitch is high ... Vai sped it up ... Still, great stuff ...

  • damn i wanted to see the fat lady at the end

  • Eeeeeeeeee još da mali stvarno i svira pa 'ajde!

  • yeaaaaa flame me

  • eljugador88:

Ry cooder did play the slide part. Look it up, it'll say that anywhere.

  • ry cooder didnt play shit you dont know anything that mother fucker doesnt even have a pick, and i can play the 29th fret on one of the single pickups on my yamaha pacifica, it took me 2 days to learn this song but the only place i can put videos is on myspace my cp always fucks up on youtube uploads?????? dont know why.

  • LOL!!! yamaha pacifica?!?!

  • is he playing the intro on the 2nd 3rd and 4th frets, instead of 2nd 4th and 5th? its the first line on the tab you would have thought the directors could have at least looked that far on the sheet.

  • No one on you tube even comes close to playing eugenes part the way he does clean, it sounds so smooth and has some REAL BALLS!!! Steve Vai is a very admirable player and this is a great example.

  • yes, Ry Cooder did all the slide guitar from the film. when I said it was Vai I was referring to the specific guitar dual seen in the clip.

  • Bare in mind it was Steve Vai that did both parts for this, so technically speaking he beat himself. Look up Vai's The Elusive Light And Sound Vol 1 and read about it for yourself if you think I'm lying.

  • somebody else help the right the slide part i thought... have lights and sunds thank god for ituns.

  • I think he did play some parts, but not that fast. If you look at his head, its moving way too fast for normal, it's actually fast forwarded. Ry Cooder better than Steve Vai, that's something to laugh too.

  • look... he falls at the end bec
