You have to think about the situation in a more logical way than that, though. In basically every situation (legal, philosophical, etc.), the one who bears the burden of proof is the one making the claim. So, it's actually up to the religious believers to prove that their religion is true. Atheists, funny enough, are correct by default by not assuming anything, because they have no reason to assume that there is a God.

ok this is a song and songs are kind of like poetry in that they use literary devices like irony, simile, plays on words, and metaphors. it is a play on words when he says God who'd wanna be such an asshole is a play on words that is meant to describe God as an asshole as illustrated in a bukowskian world view. thats why he says things like why would anyone wanna be such a control freak. and if god takes life he's an indian giver. the song is paying respect to bukowski and not God.
