When I first heard this song on my goth station, I cried my eyes out! I recall this song from the 60's, but little Emiliana brings out all the poignance & pain of the beautiful lyrics. She's an amazing singer....all the little emos must really love this one! =0)

I've been listening to versions of this song. I like Cyndi Lauper's version best and now I'm listening to this Emiliana Torrini which has the same delivery of desperation and impending abandonment -- only younger.

My question is : who's emulating whom? Maybe that's not even a concern. I love both but identify with Lauper's tragic angst.
