  • The "FE" is used on tail numbers below 700. "FD" is used on tail numbers 700 and up, except for a few Feeders with tail numbers in the 900s which use "FX".

  • What about the B 787-8F? Anyword about Fedex making orders for tha particular aircaft that just dosn't see a production data yet???

  • @Skippy585 there is no conversion for a freight model aircraft on the 787 dreamliner, but possibly an aftermarket addon, so we will see

  • @tweak2487

Right, Well I believe I meant 747-8 LOL. Of course the 787 would make a better freighter due to is size and fuel Efficiency if you compare it to the 767 or smaller 2 engine aircaft

  • nice... so why are they FD's and not FE's anymore.. ?

  • @FullMetalJackSquat seems like the 777-757-a300-a310 are FD. dc10-md10-md11 and some a300/310 are FE's. i can't figure it out

  • @mikey69up Yeah its been while but I did actually find out that with all the small feeder aircraft they own or operate...ALL the FE's are used up!. Some feeders use FX...so all the new fleet 757's & 777's will be FD's.

  • @FullMetalJackSquat

    What about 767's?

  • @Skippy585 --FedEx has ~0~ (none) 767. Never had and never will. The just ordered 20+ 777's.!

  • @BigBearVids

So I'm wondering why they did not make an investment in the 767-4F??? Now, according to Airways; ( magazine) they bought a few 757's on wet lease. So if you want a large two engine feighter; then in my opinion it would have made since too by something like a 767. But that would be unnessary with the orders of the T7's.

  • @Skippy585 I read FDX did NOT need another widebody type aircraft. They needed to replace the very old fleet of 727's. the 757 was the fit...and so are the 777's →leaving the 'inbetween, less fuel efficient' 767.... on the tarmac-- in VCV.

As far as they know they have the older DC-10's or MD-10 and 11's. I remember they had orders for the flying warehouse (A-380); favored the T 7's instead. I myself think that's a good choice. Imagine the all the dents in the runways due to 885 thousand pounds hitting it every day.

  • @Skippy585 ya they are trying to phase out the md-10s but all of the md-11s will stay in flight

  • @BigBearVids yes they have replaced all of the 727-100s for favor of the 757 for more carrying capicity and fuel, they were thinking about buying a380s but after airbus was slow to deliver on all of its orders fedex choose to go with the lamborgini of the freight market, the b777f

  • fedEx for life.
