  • This was one of my favourite songs when I was growing up. Funny little man.

  • The first time I heard this song was 64-65 while I was in the Army serving in Okinawa. It was a catchy tune then and brings back fond memories even now.

  • I tell my YT friend that my my roof is leaking...and what does he send me??? - THIS!

    LOLOLOL......gotta laugh!..and gotta love my friend's ahem...sense of humour!!!

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 LOL! Your friend sounds like a real jerk! With friends like him who needs enemies? If you asked me I'd have to say he's all wet! ; )`

  • Their only other hit was "Beans In My Ears" also on the Phillips label from around the same time. Both are catchy folk type songs.

  • The uploader's comments could have been written by me, too.

  • One person disliked this song? Must be a Vulcan. They ruin everything._ Had the record as a kid, played it to ruin, still sing it around the house, mostly when my wife is asleep or not home, lest she wonder if my good sense is wobbling.

  • i heard it while on tdy in vietnam with the 8th fighter wing. lived in tents in monsoons...dont let the rain fall down indeed

  • One of my favorites for a couple years anyway. lol I remember listening to it on my transistor radio in the 60's. I was 5 when it came out. That's a couple years ago,,, right? lol

  • This was always playing on the radio when it rained Mum would make breakfast and then off to school,.,..Dad had their album and I nearly played it to death .Great time to be alive !!, no laptop ,blackberry , cell , beeper ,calculator and only pencil and paper ..we did everything on scratch paper the rest in our heads .We even had a boogie man called the Communist and we went on not affraid!,now theres a new boogie man and everybody is balled up in fear ..Funny how things change isnt it ?

  • My mum had the radio on every morn before school ,.,It seemed every time it rained this song was being played .I ask dad to buy the 45 and i nearly wore it out .

God it brings back memories of mum and dad , they are gone now but it was a great time to be alive .We actually had to do math without a laptop, only call home from the office ( no cell phones) no beepers ,no blackberrys,,no calculators ,,just pencils and lost of paper and what we had in our heads ..Yup ..

  • oh man, my fourth grade teacher made us learn this song, and suddenly it came back to me, and i remember it word for word, and it might have helped that there's about 15 different words in the entire song. CROOKED!

  • @dustindo

Could be worse...it could have been "The Cat Came Back"

  • this is on my dad's cd of his favorite songs. whenever we're on a road trip I say " let's play don't let the rain come down!" ahh, memories.

  • beautiful! i start with singing this from time to time and my sweetie laughs. i don't think she's actually ever heard this recording and suspect she'll love it when i play it for her. thanks for sharing it :)

  • This is exactly like the guys from "A Mighty Wind"! (You can decide whether or not that's a good thing!)

  • @josiemax how dare you doubt the power of A Mighty Wind.

  • Wonderful song...it brings back tons of memories!!!!

  • LOVE IT FROM MY CHILD HOOD , AN I WAS BORN IN 59,

  • It's such a sweet and innocent song. The sad thing is, however, if this song came out today, it wouldn't be considered politically correct.

  • This song fascinated me when I was 5 years old -- I think it came out in 1975. I remember hearing it on the radio and telling my mother I liked it. She brought the 45 home for me one day, and I thought it was the most amazing thing to be able to hear my favorite song on a record whenever I wanted to.

  • @jeopardy60611 Actually, this recording was released in 1964, but you could have purchased a 45 rpm of it for many years after that....Nocaro

  • ERSEL Hickey did pen a number of songs like the Top Ten hit “Don’t Let the Rain Come Down,” co-written with Eddie Miller,That same year Ersel Hickey bumped into Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, who advised him to write his own songs. “Bluebirds Over the Mountain” was written that night.
