Im not exactly sure if this will work since it is a pretty different system on my older BMW but some suspension components actually need to be under load of the car to be removed. Like youd have to set the tire back in and lower the jack a bit.
Just my 2 cents, as I said, it could be different from you, but I do know for sure, on most cars some parts need to be under load to be removed.
