Link excels at ground based fighting. If you can keep doing what you did 0:05 - 0:40 you'll be fine, but after that it was just disaster after disaster. You probably lost your grove and rage quit. This video is basically a cry for attention.

Link doesn't suck. You just need to be good at timing your massive range and keep near the center, where you cannot be destroyed. A good link is also good at recovery, but is generally weak in this area. A bad link will always fail at edge recovery.

Why so many dislikes? Link DOES suck. I use him as my secondary and the fact is, his recovery is too much of a crippling factor to his usage. I mean, take a look at the video. The Link player was doing pretty damn well. Didn't have a scratch on him for nearly the whole time, but Marth gets him off stage once and his stock is done. Link would NOT have been able to do the same to the Marth. Link is sadly garbage, and has been for all three games. Hopefully Smash 4 will change things.

He sucks due to horrible recovery, too few standard combo options, and too much lag time both before and after some of his best attacks.

But, regardless, he can be MADE into an excellent character when you learn to recognize his weaknesses, and most importantly, ACCEPT THAT HE HAS THEM.

Your gameplay will advance when you start looking for ways to improve your playstyle despite character weaknesses.
