  • Mickey and more with Bluesmasters will be in Kissimmee this Saturday, April 30th - Check the link for details:

  • RIGHT ON! This is obviously "We Built This City" is PERFECT POP record, hence why it went to NUMBER ONE! The people who voted this the worst record must be into rap music. STARSHIP made some really enjoyable pop records. "Sara" was an incredible recording. In my book this song is an enjoyable listen and puts me in a good mood!

  • read the jefferson airplane book GOT A REVOLUTION

  • the lighting guy was married to grace.

  • This guy is annointed. He needs to answer Gods call.

  • I will say it again. Yes the original Jefferson Airplane was great but to me there is no rock singer better than Mickey. Got to talk to him at a Vegas Concert and this guy is a great guy. I think Sara, Jane, and all the others were incredible vocally.

  • This guy has a crystal clear rock voice and his range is insane.

  • This guy has been giving me the biggest complex of my life since I could never hit his high notes. It's great to finally meet him here. Thank you for posting.

I have to practice more, there's "No way out"

  • I don't get out much these days but did go with a friend to see a local band's son play. He was great for his age and what was even more amazing was the keyboard player sounded just like Mickey Thomas. They played Fooled Around and I was like damn, this guy has a voice. Just exactly the same range.

  • When Mickey hits the high note at the beginning of Miracles you realize the range of his voice. Is amazing. Balin sounded good, don't get me wrong. But Mickey's voice also does justice to that song.

  • He revitalized Starship and led them to their greatest success in the 80's...good on ya Mickey!...I hear a faint Southern Georgia drawl as well..lol. Rebel Yell!

  • ghoula69, step out of the haze your in and make a sencible statement. Mickey is the best thing that happened to Starship.

  • What?? They were most successful in the 1970's Marty's Miracles was the best. We Built This City sucked. Dragon Fly was a great album.

  • Great interview segment. The story of the new, hard rock Jefferson Starship. Mickey sounds cool.

  • This guy has a heck of a vocal range.

  • "Jane" is still one of the best rock songs ever. It kicks the ass of anything that's come out on the radio in the last 20 years. I'll be listening to that song when I'm in a nursing home!

  • May I ask who performed the song...Count on Me..with Jefferson Starship?

  • Marty Balin.

  • thanks rossialejo..Marty was such a good vocalist..

  • He sucks Marty and Grace were the best. He is ego centric freak who paul Kantner never should of hired. David Freiberg has a better voice. He ruined the group and without them he became a hasbeen

  • give them some credit they recorded some really good music with Mickey. The whole band had a ego trip in those days

  • @ghoula69 And where are Marty, Grace, and Paul?

  • @da324 Grace is retired by choice and doing art shows of her paintings and enjoying life. Paul reformed Jefferson Starship in 1992 has put out albums of new material which is great and still tours with Marty, and David freiberg, as Jefferson Starship, Marty still performs and also paints and does art shows. Mickey Thomas hasn't done shit since Grace left in 1987.

  • @ghoula69

i thought Micky Thomas is in "Micky Thomas Starship"

Marty is in Paul Kanters band.

I ALLWAYS GIVE MARTY AND GRACE EQUAL CREDIT FOR JEFFERSON AIRPLANE!

  • @TEMPmichaelhansen Like I said Mickey has done nothing at least new. Paul and Marty still tour but are always writing new stuff, I have seen Paul many times at shows, I love when he does acoustic and reads poetry between songs. Windows of Heaven is a great album. When Grace left, Starship died and Mickey now tours singing We Built This City Where as Paul and Marty sing Crown of Creation, Blows against the Empire, Shadowlands, etc. I would be proud to sing Crown , not We Built this city, Peace

  • @ghoula69

micky thomas starship just played a free show at santa cruz beach boardwalk

  • Mick and Grace made a good duo!
